Warriors, Bobcats Interested In J.J. Hickson

5:37pm: The Warriors are the frontrunners to sign Hickson, Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld writes.

1:05pm: The Bobcats have also expressed interest in Hickson, according to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer (via Twitter).

MONDAY, 12:14pm: A source tells Sam Amico of FOX Sports Ohio (Sulia link) that it's "hard to envision" Hickson signing with anyone but the Warriors. Golden State tried to sign Hickson after he was waived by the Kings, and is making a serious push for him now, says Amico.

SUNDAY, 11:22pm: The Warriors are in the early stages of discussions for free agent forward J.J. Hickson, league sources tell Marcus Thompson of the Contra Costa Times.  The Warriors could use their mid-level exception to sign Hickson, who was not given a qualifying offer from the Blazers on Friday.

Hickson would provide Golden State with badly needed frontline help to in support of starters Andrew Bogut and David Lee.  The Warriors hoped to sign the 23-year-old after he was waived by the Kings late last season but the Blazers beat them to the punch.  Hickson averaged 15.1 points and 8.3 rebounds in 19 games with Portland.

The Blazers still have interest in bringing Hickson back but apparently opted against extending him a qualifying offer in order to avoid a $5.9MM cap hold this summer.  In addition to Golden State and Portland, Thompson writes that four other clubs are in the mix for Hickson.
