What are the chances of the Lakers,Magic and Rockets do a 3 team trade with Bynum and Metta going to Magic for D12 and Pau going to LA for picks players. The Rockets also absorb one of Magic’s contracts.
Can somebody explain to me the reasoning behind the NBA moratorium period? Why don’t they simply allow the free agents to sign contracts when free agency period opens?
The moratorium gives the league time to calculate the BRI/cap/tax figures for the upcoming year. For instance, if you want to sign a player for a max contract, you won’t necessarily know what the max will be until all that info is determined (although for the upcoming season it’s expected to stay the same as last year).
Thanks Luke. You’re doing awesome work, by the way. I’ve been a MLB Trade Rumors buff, and just started visiting here this off-season. I’m thrilled that you worked your way into this opportunity on the new sister site. The organization of the posts and insight you add make this 10 times better than your competitor fantasy basketball news sites, that primarily dump player and columnist tweets into a mud puddle.
