10:30 PM: The Knicks have discussed adding Ricky Rubio in talks with the Wolves, Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com reports (video link). Windhorst adds that Minnesota has had discussions with the Pistons regarding a Ricky Rubio-Reggie Jackson swap, but the Wolves are not interested in bringing Jackson aboard. A three-way trade that sends Rose to Minnesota, Rubio to Detroit and Jackson to New York could be in play, Windhorst adds. He notes that Rubio and Jackson are two of the players most likely to be traded before the deadline.
Minnesota doesn’t necessarily view Rose as a long-term fit, as the team wants to clear space for Kris Dunn and would like to get out of Rubio’s deal. The Spanish point guard has three years remaining on his contract, while Rose will be a free agent after the season.
10:14 PM: Several teams have reached out to the Knicks regarding a Derrick Rose trade, Ian Begley of ESPN.com reports. Begley adds the Wolves are among the teams to have discussions with the franchise.
It’s unclear what the Knicks would receive in return should they send Rose to Minnesota. New York acquired the point guard in the offseason with the hope that he would help the team get to the playoffs this season. The team is currently 23-34 after losing seven of their last 10 games and it appears the franchise will have a hard time achieving that goal.
Rose is averaging 17.7 points per game this season and he hasn’t missed any games because of the knee issues which plagued him over the past few years. He previously played for Wolves executive/coach Tom Thibodeau in Chicago for seven seasons.

Don’t understand the hate for drose. It’s not his fault people are overating kp. And melo is well melo. The Knicks are bad because they don’t have a bench. Noah and Lee has been terrible and hornacek has used horrible lineups almost every game. He’s terrible.
The hate for Rose is because he is a decent bench player at best at this point of his career. He cannot shoot, doesn’t distribute well enough for a PG, and plays horrible defense. His only attribute is that he is still decent at finishing at the rim, but no where near what he use to be.
He is a decent scorer off the bench at this point, but I am sure he still thinks he is a max player. He is going to find out the hard way this summer.

DRose is more of a ballhog than Melo… avgs like 4 assists /game, yet always puts up 10 or more shots..

Granted, his game has fallen off some, but he can still get to the hoop, and can still score.
Yes, the defense needs a little work, but if he went with Thibodeau, you can bet your rear end that he’ll be playing better defense.
Lee is avg his 2nd highest rebounds in his career, his highest ast avg and his 3rd highest ppg right now. So he has not been terrible by any means. He has been one of the better players for the Knicks this year.
Ya Courtney Lee has been hands down the knicks best player lately..

The hate for DRose goes back to his choosing to sit out instead of playing when the doctors released him after his knee injury. I don’t hate the guy for choosing his well being over the team, but I surely lost all respect I had for him after that.
Agree 100%. Willis Reed is a god, MJ played with a fever, and Rose was scared to play when healthy.
If the Wolves trade for him it better not be Rubio! That man is class and he makes every player on the team better!
The incentive for the Wolves is that they get out of Rubio’s long term contract since Rose is a FA at the end of the year. Gives them plenty of money in the offseason to add a veteran backup PG and some depth on the wings.

Couple of things.
One. Ricky Rubio isn’t white. He’s Spanish. From Spain.
Second. Since you’ve been following basketball since before I was swimming in my daddy’s nutsack. You should realize that for the triangle to be a productive offense you need a PASS first guard. That Rubio is. Rose is an attacking guard who needs to drive to make an impact.
Third. I,don’t seem to remember any white player being heralded as the savior for the team if anything it’s whenever they get anyone with any star power. IE starburry, melo, rose. Maybe they did that with Lin but again. He’s not white. He’s Asian.

Rose can score and could probably be among the best PG’s in the league still. But he doesn’t pass and is terrible on defense.
If h can’t pass or play D he certainly is NOT “…among the best pg’s in the league…”. It’s sad but he’s done. Might be an ok dude at the end of the bench for ref season minutes.

He is also tentative at times. When he actually attacks consistently, he still shows some of that old explosiveness. He doesn’t go all out all the time, likely an issue mentally from the previous injuries
That being said, the knicks main issue is playing so many bigs at once and clogging the lanes. Not enough space for Rose, Melo, or Porzingis, and it clearly hurts them offensively.
Always defense it’s team effort not one player ? So we can’t criticize one player & all team don’t play defense ! So who to blame ? 1st -Phil 2nd coaching stuff stinks , 3rd -the triangle don’t work on this players period !
Why would the Pistons do that when they already have an issue with their shooting? Rubio doesn’t fit the knicks either. Honestly, the best fit for him, in my opinion is brooklyn.

Luol Deng and Jimmy Butler were always the guys who played the most minutes for the Thibs-era Bulls teams, their ACLs are fine. That’s hardly a “wear and tear” injury and more of a unfortunate landing/planting of the foot injury. Rose tore his ACL on a layup I believe (or a drive to the basket), a play he has done both before and after his injury probably a million times.
No, Rose had a TERRIBLE trainer in Chicago. However, he was the star and he was the one that picked her. It was a bad move on his part. She was a glorified yoga instructor — totally not kidding. She was literally a yoga instructor that they made the director of strength and conditioning.
Every year, Wolves want to trade Rubio to Knicks for anything to get out from under his contract…. I’ll believe it when I see it. I hope I don’t see it

Rose coming off the books is the only thing that will provide significant cap space for the Knicks this off season. If they take back salary beyond this year, it has to be someone they want longer term or can flip. Rubio I can see (he’s actually been a plus defender and obviously an elite passer, two things the Knicks could use). But then flipping him for Jackson (another tunnel vision guy), I can’t. Might as well keep Rose and see if he can be signed for less or his Bird rights have value.
