A <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/02/knicks-maintain-plans-to-sign-chris-smith.html" target="_blank">report in February</a> indicated the Knicks still plan to sign Chris Smith. Berman expects <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/smithjr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">J.R. We rounded up <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/knicks-notes.html" target="_blank">more</a> on the Knicks earlier today, and here&#39;s the latest on their division rivals:</div>
<ul>
<li>One NBA executive tells <a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sixers/20130520_Lots_of_chatter_about_upcoming_Sixers_decisions.html" target="_blank">Bob Cooney of the Philadelphia Daily News</a> that he isn&#39;t sure new <strong>Sixers</strong> GM <strong>Sam Hinkie</strong> can handle the team&#39;s basketball decisions. <em>&quot;I don&#39;t think they are leaning on <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/t/thornro01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Rod Thorn</a></strong> as much as they should or he wants and I heard there still might be changes to the front office,&quot;</em> the exec said. Another rival executive tells Cooney the Sixers have put their coaching search on the backburner.</li>
<li>Hinkie was part of a <strong>Rockets</strong> front office that was aggressive in making moves that allowed the team to acquire a star player, and he says he&#39;ll bring that approach to the <strong>Sixers</strong>, notes&#0160;<a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sixers/20130520_Expect_lots_of_turnover_if_Sixers_follow_the_Rockets_model.html" target="_blank">Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer</a>.</li>
<li><strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/o/odengr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Greg Oden</a></strong> is drawing <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/odds-ends-hornacek-oden-celtics-thunder.html" target="_blank">rave reviews</a>&#0160;for his workouts of late, but <strong>Celtics</strong> president of basketball operations <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/aingeda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Danny Ainge</a></strong> doesn&#39;t give the impression that signing the erstwhile No. 1 overall pick is high on his to-do list, observes <a href="http://bostonherald.com////sports/celtics_nba/boston_celtics/2013/05/fab_review_from_ainge_on_melo" target="_blank">Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald</a>. <em>&quot;We’ll look into Greg still,&quot;</em> Ainge said. <em>&quot;He wasn’t ready to play when we saw him last. He wasn’t ready to work out — I mean, not like a real workout. We’ll probably check into that some time this summer.&quot;</em></li>
<li>Bulpett hears that <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/riverdo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Doc Rivers</a></strong> isn&#39;t high on 2012 first-rounder <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/melofa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Fab Melo</a></strong>, but Ainge disputes the idea, pointing out that Rivers didn&#39;t get much of chance to see the former Syracuse center who spent much of his rookie season in the D-League.</li>
<li><strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/walkebi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Bill Walker</a></strong>, who split five NBA seasons between the <strong>Knicks</strong> and <strong>Celtics</strong>, has signed to play in Venezuela with Trotamundos de Carabobo, while <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/collima01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Mardy Collins</a></strong>, a first-round draft pick of the <strong>Knicks</strong> in 2006, has joined Guaros de Lara, another Venezuelan team, as Sportando&#39;s Emiliano Carchia passes along in a <a href="http://www.sportando.net/eng/world/america/55820/trotamundos-de-carabobo-sign-bill-walker-summers.html" target="_blank">pair</a> of <a href="http://www.sportando.net/eng/world/america/55843/guaros-de-lara-sign-mardy-collins.html" target="_blank">reports</a>.&#0160;</li>

In a summer of discontent for 29 NBA teams (and the city of Seattle), there are still plenty of question marks, like Hornacek, with uncertain, yet bright futures. Like the next item on our list...
</p>
<ul>
<li><strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/o/odengr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Greg Oden</a></strong> continues to impress those who have seen him workout, with the latest being predraft workout partner and former Ohio State forward, <strong>Deshaun Thomas</strong>, who told the <a href="http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/index.ssf/2013/05/shabazz_muhammad_among_trail_blazers_interviewees.html" target="_blank">The Oregonian&#39;s Jason Quick</a> the former number one pick, &quot;looks unbelievable.&quot; We&#39;ve already shared <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/eastern-notes-2.html" target="_blank">Mary Schmitt Boyer&#39;s assessment</a>&#0160;that Oden looks terrific. A <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/free-agent-stock-watch-greg-oden.html" target="_blank">number of Eastern Conference teams</a> have already targeted the rehabilitating center and it appears only a matter of time before he&#39;s back in the league.&#0160;</li>
<li>Speaking of comebacks, what are the <strong>Celtics</strong> going to do this offseason? <a href="http://bostonherald.com/sports/celtics_nba/boston_celtics/2013/05/execs_split_on_c_s_chances" target="_blank">Steve Bulpett at the Boston Herald</a> did an informal survey of general managers at the predraft combine in Chicago on Friday, and they were as undecided as most observers. Some believe the Celtics may make another go of it with <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/piercpa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Paul Pierce</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/garneke01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Kevin Garnett</a></strong>, while others think they could blow the whole thing up and trade their franchise mainstays since the summer of 2007 for younger players and draft picks.&#0160;</li>
<li>The <strong>Thunder</strong> aren&#39;t undecided; they&#39;re title contenders now, and&#0160;<a href="http://newsok.com/oklahoma-city-thunder-the-time-has-come-for-okcs-young-players/article/3826866?custom_click=rss" target="_blank">Barry Tramel writes at the Oklahoman</a>&#0160;that&#0160;the Thunder are unlikely to make any splashy moves this offseason with about $66.12MM in salary for 10 players next season. The time for the young team to win is now.</li>
<li>Also, the Oklahoman&#39;s staff answered four different questions about the <strong>Thunder</strong>&#39;s 2012/13 season, the most tenuous one being: <a href="http://newsok.com/four-burning-questions-was-the-thunders-season-a-failure/article/3826848?custom_click=rss" target="_blank">was the Thunder&#39;s season a failure</a>?</li>

<p>The Celtics apparently have resolution to one of their offseason question marks, with president of basketball operations&#0160;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/aingeda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Danny Ainge</a></strong>&#0160;confirming that&#0160;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/riverdo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Doc Rivers</a></strong>&#0160;<a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/ainge-rivers-to-return-as-celtics-coach.html" target="_blank">will be back</a>&#0160;as the team&#39;s coach. There wasn&#39;t much doubt about that, but Rivers&#0160;<a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/odds-ends-celtics-wolves-blazers-hunter.html" target="_blank">wavered</a>&#0160;at the end of the season, and his name surfaced in&#0160;<a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/nets-contact-jackson-like-brown-and-shaw.html" target="_blank">rumors</a>&#0160;about the Nets. Much larger decisions remain, with uncertainty surrounding the futures of&#0160;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/piercpa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Paul Pierce</a></strong>&#0160;and&#0160;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/garneke01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Kevin Garnett</a></strong>.</p>
<p>Boston has an unusual opportunity with Pierce&#39;s contract. The team can save more than two-thirds of his $15MM+ salary if it waives him by June 30th, the day before the NBA&#39;s calendar flips over to 2013/14. That would require cutting ties with the player who&#39;s scored more points than anybody in Celtic green except&#0160;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/havlijo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">John Havlicek</a></strong>. Pierce, at 35, might not be all he once was, as demonstrated by a decline in free throw attempts to his lowest per-game rate since his rookie season, but most of his numbers this season were consistent with recent years. Recognizing a need to help out a team that was weak on the boards, Pierce averaged 6.3 rebounds, his most since 2005/06.&#0160;</p>
<p>Father time appears to be closer to catching up with Garnett, who turns 37 tomorrow. He played just 29.7 minutes per game this season, the fewest since he was a rookie. He still gets it done on the defensive end, where the Celtics give up just 96.2 points per 100 possessions when he&#39;s in the game. His rebounding is tailing off, though, as he grabbed 9.4 boards per 36 minutes, his lowest rate since 1997/98.&#0160;</p>
<p>Alas, it would be much easier for the C&#39;s to part ways with Pierce than with Garnett, who has a guaranteed contract with one of the league&#39;s few no-trade clauses. They could try to goad KG into accepting a trade by unloading Pierce and demonstrating that they&#39;re in full-scale rebuilding mode, but I don&#39;t think Ainge is ready to move on from the &quot;Big Three&quot; era quite yet, if only because there aren&#39;t many other intriguing options.</p>
<p>The Celtics could try to trade Pierce, whose contract expires after next season, but that doesn&#39;t seem appealing. The cap space the C&#39;s can create with Pierce off their books in 2014, when several marquee free agents could be available, is probably more valuable than anything they might get in return for him. Ainge could also dangle&#0160;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/rondora01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Rajon Rondo</a></strong>&#39;s team-friendly deal, likely the team&#39;s best asset. That could net them draft picks and promising young players, and clear more cap space for a run at one of those&#0160;<a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2012/08/201415-nba-free-agents.html" target="_blank">summer of 2014 free agents</a>. Boston, despite its rich basketball tradition, has never been a preferred destination for top free agents, however, and that would require Ainge to hit home runs with the youthful assets he would acquire for Rondo, who appears destined to stay put.</p>
<p>The four-year, $36.24MM contract that&#0160;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/greenje02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Jeff Green</a></strong>&#0160;signed with the Celtics last summer looks like much less of an albatross for the team than it did in the middle of the season. Green&#39;s scoring average in games after the All-Star break (17.3) was a whopping seven points higher than it was through the first half of the season. Still, he&#39;ll need to show consistency if other teams are to find him an attractive trade asset.&#0160;</p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/bassbr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Brandon Bass</a></strong>&#0160;regressed after a career year in 2011/12, while&#0160;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/t/terryja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Jason Terry</a></strong>&#0160;and&#0160;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/l/leeco01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Courtney Lee</a></strong>, the two shooting guards the team ostensibly brought in to replace&#0160;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/allenra02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Ray Allen</a></strong>, went through significant declines as well. None of them look like strong trade candidates.&#0160;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/bradlav01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Avery Bradley</a>&#0160;</strong>returned from his shoulder injury to play top-notch perimeter defense again, but he regressed offensively and proved incapable of taking over as the team&#39;s primary ball-handler in&#0160;Rondo&#39;s absence. That likely limits his trade value, though Ainge probably isn&#39;t giving up a starting guard on a rookie contract.</p>
<p>The Celtics are in line to pay the luxury tax unless they waive Pierce, and they&#39;d still be well over the cap even if they save that $10MM+ on him. The team&#39;s best bet to upgrade is likely through the mid-level exception. It will be hard to find quality big men on the cheap, particularly if the team is limited to the $3.183MM taxpayer&#39;s mid-level instead of the standard $5.15MM exception. Still, someone who can shore up the team&#39;s rebounding will no doubt be a priority for Ainge and his staff, which lost assistant GM&#0160;<strong>Ryan McDonough</strong>&#0160;<a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/suns-hire-ryan-mcdonough-as-gm.html" target="_blank">to the Suns</a>. The Heat were the only team to grab fewer rebounds than the Celtics this season, and Boston doesn&#39;t have the kind of all-world talent that Miami can call upon to overcome that kind of flaw.</p>
<p>Barring massive improvement by rookies&#0160;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/sullija01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Jared Sullinger</a></strong>&#0160;and&#0160;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/melofa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Fab Melo</a></strong>, or midseason acquisitions&#0160;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/randosh01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Shavlik Randolph</a></strong>&#0160;and&#0160;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/whitedj01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">D.J. White</a></strong>, the Celtics could also use an inside player to take pressure off Garnett, whose minutes may decline again next season. Ainge&#0160;<a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/ainge-on-pierce-rivers-garnett-barbosa.html" target="_blank">acknowledges</a>&#0160;that the Celtics probably need to add more than a single piece if they&#39;re to become a championship contender again. Nonetheless, the clearest path back to the top appears to involve spending the summer on minor changes, rather than an overhaul.</p>

<li>Zeller has interviewed with 10 teams at the combine, and the&#0160;<strong>Sixers</strong>&#0160;are one of them, reports&#0160;<a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sixers/20130518_Sixers_interview_Indiana_s_Cody_Zeller_at_NBA_draft_combine.html" target="_blank">Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer</a>.</li>
</ul>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Earlier updates:</strong></span></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Nerlens Noel</strong>&#0160;told Andy Katz of ESPN that he&#39;s interviewed with the <strong>Celtics, Magic, Bobcats, Suns, Pelicans and Cavaliers, </strong>as <a href="http://zagsblog.com/articles/nerlens-noel-interviews-with-6-teams-takes-heat-for-weight/" target="_blank">Adam Zagoria of SNY.tv</a> passes along. Katz also hears <strong>Gorgui Dieng</strong> and <strong>Jamaal Franklin</strong> are hopeful they&#39;ll be healthy enough to work out before the draft. <strong>Alex Len</strong> won&#39;t be ready to hit the court until August, but he&#39;s planning to talk with 15 teams at the combine, according to Katz.</li>
<li><strong>Dennis Schroeder</strong> is one of a pair of international prospects rumored to have&#0160;<a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/draft-combine-updates-thursday-afternoon.html" target="_blank">received a promise</a>&#0160;from a team, and he said following an interview with the<strong> Bucks</strong> at the combine that Milwaukee could be a fit for him, notes&#0160;<a href="http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/207921311.html" target="_blank">Charles F. Gardner of the Journal Sentinel</a>. Schroeder also sees a chance for playing time with the <strong>Jazz</strong>.</li>
<li>The <strong>Magic</strong> interviewed <strong>Otto Porter</strong> during the combine, and scheduled a meeting with <strong>Kelly Olynyk</strong> as well, reports Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel (<a href="https://twitter.com/JoshuaBRobbins/status/335486762782687232" target="_blank">Twitter</a>&#0160;<a href="https://twitter.com/JoshuaBRobbins/status/335514719400124416" target="_blank">links</a>).</li>

<li><a href="http://www.freep.com/article/20130517/SPORTS03/305170108/1051/sports03" target="_blank">Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press</a>&#0160;adds&#0160;<strong>Brandon Paul</strong>&#0160;and<strong>&#0160;Tony Mitchell</strong>&#0160;to the list of <strong>Pistons</strong> interviewees. Paul has a workout with the team scheduled for later this month.</li>
<li><a href="http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/index.ssf/2013/05/trail_blazers_interview_highly_touted_guards_at_nb.html" target="_blank">The Oregonian&#39;s Jason Quick</a> looks at the prospect interview process the <strong>Trail Blazers</strong> employ, and adds that GM <strong>Neil Olshey</strong> flew to Europe this spring to scout <strong>Rudy Gobert</strong> and <strong>Dario Saric</strong>, who aren&#39;t taking part in the combine.</li>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>A Northwest Division team has appeared in the Western Conference Finals four of the last six seasons, but with the top-seeded <strong>Thunder</strong> on early summer vacation after their loss to the <strong>Grizzlies</strong>, that trend has come to an end. The focus now shifts to offseason movement, and we&#39;ve got the latest on a pair of Northwest teams here:</p>
<ul>
<li>New <strong>Timberwolves</strong> executive <strong>Flip Saunders</strong> served as an adviser to <strong>Celtics</strong> coach <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/riverdo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Doc Rivers</a></strong> last year, but even if Boston elects to waive <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/piercpa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Paul Pierce</a></strong>, a source downplays the notion that Pierce could join the Wolves, according to <a href="http://www.1500espn.com/sportswire/The_Scoops_Raise_for_Jerry_Kill_still_on_Teague_Gophers_agenda051613" target="_blank">Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN Twin Cities</a>.</li>
<li>Wolfson, in his roundup of Minnesota items, hears that former <strong>Wolves</strong> GM <strong>David Kahn</strong> told friends he thought he&#39;d assume the same position with the<strong> Sixers</strong>, who instead <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/sixers-to-hire-sam-hinkie-as-gm.html" target="_blank">hired</a> <strong>Sam Hinkie</strong> as their new GM.</li>
<li>The minimum salary contract of <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/johnsch03.html" target="_blank">Chris Johnson</a></strong>, the backup big man the<strong> Wolves</strong> signed when they were short on bodies this season, is fully guaranteed for next season, according to Mark Deeks of ShamSports (<a href="https://twitter.com/MarkDeeksNBA/status/335555546436493312" target="_blank">Twitter link</a>).</li>
<li><strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/martike02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Kevin Martin</a></strong> hesitated before issuing the standard player line about wanting back with his team next season, and&#0160;<a href="http://newsok.com/several-factors-come-into-play-on-whether-kevin-martin-returns-to-thunder/article/3823446/?page=1" target="_blank">Jenni Carlson of The Oklahoman</a>&#0160;interprets that as a sign he&#39;s ready to move on. She thinks the <strong>Thunder</strong> would be hard-pressed to bring him back on even half of his $12.4MM salary from this season.&#0160;</li>
<li>Of course, the <strong>Thunder</strong> wouldn&#39;t have a decision to make on Martin if they hadn&#39;t pulled the trigger on the <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/hardeja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">James  Harden</a></strong> deal, a move <a href="http://www.sheridanhoops.com/2013/05/17/sheridan-harden-trade-will-haunt-okc-for-a-long-time" target="_blank">Chris Sheridan of SheridanHoops.com</a> chalks up as a blunder.</li>

Chris Haynes of CSNNW.com adds (<a href="https://twitter.com/ChrisBHaynes/status/335453770098020352" target="_blank">via Twitter</a>) that the Blazers met with Ledo yesterday.</li>

<li>Sam Amico of FOX Sports Ohio <a href="https://twitter.com/SamAmicoFSO/status/335473088135303169" target="_blank">tweets</a> that there&#39;s some speculation at the combine that this could finally be the year the No. 1 pick is traded.</li>

<p><strong>11:44am:</strong> It took us <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/draft-combine-updates-thursday-morning.html" target="_blank">multiple</a> <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/draft-combine-updates-thursday-afternoon.html" target="_blank">posts</a> yesterday to round up all the tidbits trickling out of Chicago, where the NBA is holding its draft combine this week. We&#39;ll see if today is as busy, but in the meantime, here are the latest updates on the 2013 draft:</p>
<ul>
<li>Some NBA executives believe that it&#39;s possible <strong>Shabazz Muhammad</strong> falls out of the top 10 and perhaps even the lottery on draft night, writes <a href="http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2013/05/16/another-hit-to-muhammad-draft-stock/" target="_blank">Scott Howard-Cooper of NBA.com</a>.</li>
<li>In an Insider-only piece, <a href="http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft2013/story/_/id/9284003/2013-nba-draft-draft-measurements-noel-muhammad-concern-some-gms" target="_blank">ESPN.com&#39;s Chad Ford</a> passes along the official measurements on the players in Chicago, and provides a few thoughts on the results.</li>
<li>Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News (<a href="https://twitter.com/timkawakami/status/335425251108347904" target="_blank">Twitter link</a>) hears from an NBA source that the <strong>Warriors</strong> believe they can acquire either a first- or second-round pick in this year&#39;s draft, if they so choose. Kawakami adds in a <a href="https://twitter.com/timkawakami/status/335425545909194752" target="_blank">second tweet</a> that a pick would mostly just cost money, but I&#39;m skeptical that the Warriors could pick up a first-rounder without giving up anything of value, or that they&#39;d even want to add a rookie-scale salary, given their proximity to the tax.</li>
<li><strong>Alex Len</strong> met with the <strong>Bobcats</strong> last night and will meet with the <strong>Cavaliers</strong> today, according to tweets from <a href="https://twitter.com/rick_bonnell/status/335427543211601920" target="_blank">Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer</a> and <a href="https://twitter.com/JasonLloydABJ/status/335426071803600896" target="_blank">Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon-Journal</a>. David Mayo of MLive.com <a href="https://twitter.com/David_Mayo/status/335427144673013760" target="_blank">tweets</a> that Len has nothing set up with the <strong>Pistons</strong> and &quot;wasn&#39;t too enthused&quot; when asked about them -- perhaps that would change if Detroit jumped into the top three in next week&#39;s lottery.</li>
<li>The <strong>Pistons</strong> will meet with <strong>Rudy Gobert</strong> today, <a href="https://twitter.com/Keith_Langlois/status/335427952768581632" target="_blank">tweets</a> Keith Langlois of Pistons.com.</li>
<li><strong>Steven Adams</strong> interviewed with the <strong>Magic</strong> last night, according to Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel (<a href="https://twitter.com/JoshuaBRobbins/status/335426529892921345" target="_blank">Twitter link</a>). Chad Ford heard that Adams was <a href="http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/blog/_/name/nba_draft/id/9285282/2013-nba-draft-notes-day-1-draft-combine" target="_blank">the big winner</a> on the first day of the combine, with &quot;GM after GM&quot; impressed by his showing.</li>
<li><strong>Kelly Olynyk</strong> has met with the <strong>Bucks</strong>, <a href="https://twitter.com/GeryWoelfel/status/335430268737449984" target="_blank">tweets</a> Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times.</li>
<li><strong>Myck Kabongo</strong> met with the <strong>Knicks</strong> and <strong>Trail Blazers</strong> earlier in the week, says <a href="http://thestar.blogs.com/raptors/2013/05/the-combines-like-a-festival-of-basketball.html" target="_blank">Doug Smith of the Toronto Star</a>. <strong>Mason Plumlee</strong> also expects to meet with the Blazers, <a href="https://twitter.com/jwquick/status/335432630675836928" target="_blank">tweets</a> Jason Quick of the Oregonian.</li>

<li><strong>Knicks</strong> GM <strong>Glen Grunwald</strong> is hoping to re-sign <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/copelch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Chris Copeland</a></strong> this summer, but one source tells <a href="http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/copeland_improves_his_stock_Gf8APA5BHWbnv30SVRxzqJ" target="_blank">Marc Berman of the New York Post</a> that the restricted free agent may seek &quot;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/n/novakst01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Steve Novak</a></strong> money&quot; (four years, $16MM), which would put him out of New York&#39;s price range. I think if the Knicks were to offer their mini mid-level exception to Copeland, they could re-sign him, but that would rule out the pursuit of many outside free agents.</li>
<li>When <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/t/thomaku01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Kurt Thomas</a></strong> underwent right foot surgery toward the end of this season, it was widely assumed that he may have played his last NBA game. Thomas remains undecided on his future though, suggesting to <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/thomas-won-rule-returning-year-age-41-article-1.1346696?localLinksEnabled=false" target="_blank">Frank Isola of the New York Daily News</a> that there&#39;s a chance he could return.</li>
<li>Asked about <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/atlantic-rumors-sixers-sampson-howard-kidd.html" target="_blank">yesterday&#39;s report</a> that the <strong>Sixers</strong> had received permission to interview <strong>Rockets</strong> assistant <strong>Kelvin Sampson</strong>, GM <strong>Sam Hinkie</strong> replied, <em>&quot;I&#39;m not even there yet. I won&#39;t confirm or deny, but I will say I don&#39;t know where that came from&quot;</em> (via <a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sixers/20130517_Hinkie_knows_his_basketball.html" target="_blank">Bob Cooney of the Philadelphia Daily News</a>).</li>
<li>Citing word out of Toronto, Sam Amico of FOX Sports Ohio hears that this very well could be <strong>Bryan Colangelo</strong>&#39;s last week as the <strong>Raptors</strong>&#39; GM (<a href="https://twitter.com/SamAmicoFSO/status/335252197921136640" target="_blank">Twitter link</a>). The last real updates on the subject <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/latest-on-raptors-bryan-colangelo.html" target="_blank">came on Monday</a>, when reports were mixed on whether or not Colangelo would be back.</li>

Here&#39;s more out of the Eastern Conference tonight:&#0160;</p>
<ul>
<li><a href="http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2013/05/16/ainge-confirm-that-doc-rivers-will-return-celtics/oBSd2NhEzMbm1DhJiYY09K/story.html" target="_blank">Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe</a> writes that even though <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/piercpa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Paul Pierce</a></strong>&#39;s future in Boston is yet to be determined, one source says that Pierce&#39;s family is already preparing for possible relocation while anticipating that the <strong>Celtics</strong> will look to trade him or complete a buyout this summer.&#0160;</li>

While it isn&#39;t likely that Washington would use their lottery pick on Adams, it seems sensible that they&#39;d target the 7-footer with one of their second round picks if he was still on the draft board.&#0160;</li>
<li><strong>Michael-Carter Williams</strong> would relish an opportunity with the <strong>76ers</strong> if they drafted him, notes&#0160;<a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sixers/Michael-Carter-Williams-interested-in-helping-Sixers.html" target="_blank">Keith Pompey of Philly.com</a>.&#0160;</li>

It&#39;s worth noting that despite an offer north of $625MM as well as the $115MM relocation fee that would have been included by the Seattle group, Stern was able to sway the vote in Sacramento&#39;s direction, even though it appeared that more owners were in favor of Seattle&#39;s offer (<a href="https://twitter.com/stevekylerNBA/status/335168044580093952" target="_blank">All</a>&#0160;<a href="https://twitter.com/stevekylerNBA/status/335167836110589953" target="_blank">Twitter</a>&#0160;<a href="https://twitter.com/stevekylerNBA/status/335168682789593088" target="_blank">links</a>).&#0160;Here are a few more miscellaneous tidbits from around the Association tonight:</p>
<ul>
<li>Ken Berger of CBS Sports <a href="https://twitter.com/KBergCBS/status/335149789551411201" target="_blank">tweets</a> that the <strong>76ers</strong> are expected to interview lead assistant coach <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/currymi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Michael Curry</a></strong> for their head coaching job next week.&#0160;</li>

<li>Although potential number one pick <strong>Nerlens Noel</strong> wouldn&#39;t be ready to start the regular season of his rookie campaign, the&#0160;highly touted draft prospect is targeting a debut around Christmas, writes <a href="http://www.ohio.com/blogs/cleveland-cavaliers/cleveland-cavaliers-1.275356/projected-top-pick-nerlens-noel-won-t-be-ready-for-start-of-season-targeting-christmas-1.398309?localLinksEnabled=false&amp;utm_medium=twitter&amp;utm_source=twitterfeed" target="_blank">Jason Lloyd of Ohio.com</a>.</li>
<li>Noel&#39;s injury is just one reason why teams might not be too high in landing the number one draft slot this year, writes Lloyd. In that same piece, Lloyd cites one league executive who thinks that a team might be better off drafting whoever falls to the third or fourth pick rather than handle the risk of drafting first overall.&#0160;</li>
<li>Georgetown&#39;s <strong>Otto Porter</strong> spoke glowingly about being a potential fit for the <strong>Cavaliers</strong>, writes <a href="http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2013/05/georgetowns_otto_porter_jr_loo.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&amp;utm_medium=twitter" target="_blank">Mary Schmitt Boyer of The Plain Dealer</a>.&#0160;</li>
<li><strong>Shabazz Muhammad</strong> opened up about the controversy surrounding his listed age and briefly told <a href="http://www.mlive.com/pistons/index.ssf/2013/05/shabazz_muhammad_who_is_on_det.html" target="_blank">David Mayo of MLive.com</a> about how he&#39;d fare with the <strong>Pistons</strong> if they drafted him.</li>
<li><strong>Warriors</strong> majority owner <strong>Joe Lacob</strong> says that he won&#39;t have a problem finding a replacement for <strong>Vivek Ranadive&#39;s</strong> current share with Golden State once the Sacramento situation is resolved, says Tim Kawakami of the Mercury News (via <a href="https://twitter.com/timkawakami/status/335205760902520832" target="_blank">Twitter</a>). &#0160;</li>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>Celtics GM <strong>Danny Ainge</strong> has confirmed that <strong>Doc Rivers</strong> will return to Boston next year as the team&#39;s head coach, according to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe (<a href="https://twitter.com/GwashNBAGlobe/status/335096717571653632" target="_blank">via Twitter</a>). In making the announcement, Ainge added, <em>&quot;We&#39;ve got a coach everybody would love to have.&quot;</em></p>
<p>While Rivers remains under contract with the Celtics for another three seasons, he cast a little doubt on his future with the club after the Knicks eliminated Boston from the postseason earlier this month. At the time, Washburn reported (<a href="https://twitter.com/GwashNBAGlobe/status/330509612489007104" target="_blank">via Twitter</a>) that Rivers &quot;wasn&#39;t 100% sure&quot; he&#39;d be back with the team next season, and there were also <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/nets-contact-jackson-like-brown-and-shaw.html" target="_blank">rumors</a> that the Nets would pursue the C&#39;s coach if Boston let him out of his contract.</p>
<p>Now that the Celtics know for sure that Rivers will be returning, Ainge and Co. can begin addressing the rest of the questions facing the team. The biggest two question marks involve the futures of <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/piercpa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Paul Pierce</a></strong>, who has a partially guaranteed contract, and <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/garneke01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Kevin Garnett</a></strong>, who may end up considering retirement.</p></div>

<p><strong>11:09am:</strong> With a number of reporters in attendance at the NBA&#39;s predraft camp in Chicago, we&#39;re expecting plenty of noteworthy tidbits to trickle in throughout the day. Here&#39;s a round-up of the first batch of updates on 2013&#39;s draft combine participants:</p>
<ul>
<li>According to Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal (<a href="https://twitter.com/JasonLloydABJ/status/335050708636299265" target="_blank">Twitter link</a>), the <strong>Cavaliers</strong> aren&#39;t on <strong>Otto Porter</strong>&#39;s list of teams he&#39;s meeting with this week. That&#39;s a bit of a surprise, given the rumblings that he&#39;s high on the team&#39;s big board, though as Mary Schmitt Boyer of the Plain Dealer <a href="https://twitter.com/PDcavsinsider/status/335063296325582848" target="_blank">tweets</a>, the Cavs drafted a pair of players they didn&#39;t interview last year.</li>
<li>Porter <em>is</em> scheduled to meet with the <strong>Wizards</strong>, who spoke to <strong>Victor Oladipo</strong> earlier this week, <a href="https://twitter.com/MrMichaelLee/status/335054681145499648" target="_blank">tweets</a> Michael Lee of the Washington Post. Porter will meet with the <strong>Pistons</strong> as well, <a href="https://twitter.com/Vincent_Ellis56/status/335056024769794048" target="_blank">tweets</a> Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press. The <strong>Bobcats</strong>, <strong>Thunder</strong>, and <strong>Suns</strong> have already met with Porter, according to Lee (<a href="https://twitter.com/MrMichaelLee/status/335059407228526592" target="_blank">via Twitter</a>).</li>
<li>The <strong>Pistons</strong> are also prepared to meet with <strong>Shabazz Muhammad</strong> today, according to Keith Langlois of Pistons.com (<a href="https://twitter.com/Keith_Langlois/status/335055047232729088" target="_blank">Twitter link</a>). Muhammad interviewed with the <strong>Trail Blazers</strong> yesterday and felt it went very well, <a href="https://twitter.com/ChrisBHaynes/status/335051888397520897" target="_blank">tweets</a> Chris Haynes of CSNNW.com.</li>
<li><strong>Nate Wolters</strong> and <strong>Adonis Thomas</strong> were among the prospects who have met with the <strong>Lakers</strong> so far, says Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld (<a href="https://twitter.com/AlexKennedyNBA/status/334888227225862144" target="_blank">via Twitter</a>).</li>
<li><strong>Glen Rice Jr</strong>., who played in the D-League this past season, has been interviewed by the <strong>Bucks</strong>, <strong>Celtics</strong>, <strong>Warriors</strong>, <strong>Sixers</strong>, and <strong>Spurs</strong>, he confirmed to reporters (<a href="https://twitter.com/cf_gardner/status/335073038691344384" target="_blank">all</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/Paschketball/status/335053150480384000" target="_blank">Twitter</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/GwashNBAGlobe/status/335054103728226305" target="_blank">links</a>).</li>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>We could have a fairly clear idea of the two teams that will play for the Eastern Conference title by the end of tonight. The&#0160;<strong>Heat</strong>&#0160;appear on their way to the conference finals with a 3-1 lead against the&#0160;<strong>Bulls</strong>, and the&#0160;<strong>Pacers</strong>&#0160;can take a 3-1 lead of their own with a win at home against the&#0160;<strong>Knicks&#0160;</strong>tonight. Of course, we won&#39;t know for sure until later this week at the earliest, but if Indiana wins this evening, most of the on-court intrigue will shift to the&#0160;<strong>Spurs</strong>-<strong>Warriors</strong>&#0160;series in the West. All five open head coaching jobs are in the East, however, and there&#39;s news on that along with other notes from around the conference today:</p>
<ul>
<li>The<strong> Bobcats</strong> are interviewing <strong>Rockets</strong> assistant <strong>Kelvin Sampson</strong> for their head coaching vacancy today, and they&#39;ll meet with <strong>Lakers</strong> assistant <strong>Steve Clifford</strong> next week, according to Ken Berger of CBSSports.com (<a href="https://twitter.com/KBergCBS/status/334376069371158530" target="_blank">Twitter</a>&#0160;<a href="https://twitter.com/KBergCBS/status/334379311014498304" target="_blank">links</a>). The team has&#0160;<a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/eastern-notes-hawks-bucks-sampson-nets.html" target="_blank">reportedly</a>&#0160;had&#0160;<a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/coaching-notes-pistons-bucks-canales-obrien.html" target="_blank">interest</a>&#0160;in both.&#0160;</li>
<li>A few days after receiving&#0160;<a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/odds-ends-thompson-ellis-hollins-turkoglu.html" target="_blank">permission</a>&#0160;from the<strong> Lakers</strong> to do so, the Cavs are interviewing L.A. player development coach&#0160;<strong>Phil Handy</strong>&#0160;for a spot on head coach<strong> <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/brownmi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Mike Brown</a></strong></strong>&#39;s staff, reports Marc J. <li>The <strong>Raptors</strong> appear headed for tax territory next season, but the arrival of new executive Tim Leiweke indicates that the team is comfortable paying the tax, writes&#0160;<a href="http://www.hoopsworld.com/where-do-the-raptors-go-from-here-3?utm_source=rss&amp;utm_medium=rss&amp;utm_campaign=where-do-the-raptors-go-from-here-3" target="_blank">Stephen Brotherston of HoopsWorld</a>.</li>

<li>In today&#39;s mailbag, a reader asked <a href="http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miami-heat/heat-blog/sfl-miami-heat-norris-cole-s051313,0,2714561.story" target="_blank">Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sentinel</a>&#0160;if <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/coleno01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Norris Cole</a></strong> is essentially playing his way out of Miami. &#0160;The <strong>Heat </strong>guard is under contract for next season with a club option for 2014/15, but his play could convince Miami that they can safely let <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/chalmma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Mario Chalmers</a></strong> go rather than exercise his $4MM option for next year. &#0160;Alternatively, they could also exercise the option on the KU product and flip him elsewhere.</li>

I wasn’t me, you know what I mean? So I want to come back healthy. I want to come back and be healthy right from the start of training camp,</em>&quot; Wilcox said.</li>
<li>The <strong>Nuggets</strong>&#39; <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/millequ01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Quincy Miller</a></strong> recently had his contract for next season partially guaranteed at $150K, according to <a href="http://data.shamsports.com/content/pages/data/salaries/nuggets.jsp" target="_blank">Sham Sports</a>. &#0160;Miller, who could earn up to $789K next year, had a clause in his deal that gave him a partial guarantee if he was not waived in the week following Denver&#39;s elimination from the playoffs.</li>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>After spending 17 years playing professional basketball in Europe, <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/prigipa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Pablo Prigioni</a></strong> has enjoyed his first taste of the NBA this season with the <strong>Knicks</strong>. Prigioni will be a free agent at season&#39;s end, but George Bass, who represents Prigioni, tells <a href="http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/knicks/post/_/id/44041/agent-prigioni-interested-in-knicks-return" target="_blank">Jared Zwerling of ESPNNewYork.com</a> that his client is interested in re-signing with the Knicks.</p>
<p><em>&quot;Pablo really enjoyed himself here, and he has interest in playing again
 next year,&quot;</em> Bass said. <em>&quot;He&#39;s fallen in love with New York, there&#39;s no
doubt. The Knicks are just a first-class organization, so it&#39;s been good
 all the way around.&quot;</em></p>
<p>Here are a few more updates from around the Eastern Conference:</p>
<ul>
<li>With <strong>Bojan Bogdanovic</strong> expected to sign with the <strong>Nets</strong> this summer, <a href="http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/netsblog/what_bojan_signing_would_mean_for_rK1yYz0vdP5EBxLMYkyTcK#axzz2SuH4GsDV" target="_blank">Tim Bontemps of the New York Post</a> examines what ramifications such a move would have for Brooklyn.</li>
<li>There&#39;s no timetable for the <strong>Bobcats</strong>&#39; coaching search, which figures to be lengthy and include plenty of candidates, <a href="https://twitter.com/SpearsNBAYahoo/status/332719612510760960" target="_blank">tweets</a> Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports.</li>
<li>Before he makes a decision in free agency in July, <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/redicjj01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">J.J. Redick</a></strong> plans to consult with <strong>Mike Krzyzewski</strong>, his former coach at Duke, as <a href="http://www.foxsportswisconsin.com/nba/milwaukee-bucks/story/Redick-faced-uphill-battle-in-crowded-ba?blockID=900613&amp;feedID=5066" target="_blank">Andrew Gruman of FOX Sports Wisconsin</a> writes.</li>
<li><a href="http://www.csnne.com/blog/celtics-talk/potential-celtics-targets-nba-free-agency" target="_blank">A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.com</a> identifies a few possible offseason targets for the <strong>Celtics</strong>.</li>
<li>Over at Bulls.com, <a href="http://www.nba.com/bulls/news/ask-sam-sam-smith-opens-his-mailbag-05102013.html" target="_blank">Sam Smith&#39;s latest mailbag</a> focuses primarily on the current <strong>Bulls</strong>/<strong>Heat</strong> series, but also looks ahead to the summer. Asked about <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/robinna01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Nate Robinson</a></strong>&#39;s value on the open market, Smith predicts Robinson will be looking at an annual salary in the $3MM neighborhood.</li>

<ul>
<li>It&#39;s not clear what&#39;s holding up MLSE&#39;s decision on whether or not to pick up <strong>Raptors</strong> GM <strong>Bryan Colangelo</strong>&#39;s 2013/14 option, says <a href="http://sports.nationalpost.com/2013/05/07/raptors-need-to-make-a-quick-decision-about-bryan-colangelos-future/" target="_blank">Eric Koreen of the National Post</a>. As ownership weighs the Colangelo decision, it&#39;s possible that his potential replacements are being courted by other teams, according to Koreen.</li>
<li>The <strong>Nets</strong> may not be able to bring back all of their productive bench players, with <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/blatcan01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Andray Blatche</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/watsocj01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">C.J. However, as <a href="http://basketball.realgm.com/blog/227580/Chemistry-Consistency-Key-To-Future-Of-The-Nets" target="_blank">Michael Scotto of RealGM.com</a> writes, Brooklyn&#39;s starting lineup is under contract for multiple years, so the team should get a chance to continue developing chemistry and consistency next season.</li>
<li>Former <strong>76ers</strong> coach <strong>Larry Brown</strong> is coaching college ball at SMU, but tells <a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sixers/20130510_Could_Larry_Brown_be_in_Sixers__future_.html" target="_blank">Bob Cooney of the Philadelphia Daily News</a> that he still lives in Philadelphia and that <em>&quot;I&#39;d love to be a resource [for the Sixers] any way I can.&quot;</em> The Sixers are currently seeking a new head coach, and could also be exploring hiring a new general manager.</li>
<li>The <strong>Celtics</strong>&#39; ability to contend over the next several seasons will hinge on <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/garneke01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Kevin Garnett</a></strong>&#39;s future, writes <a href="http://greenstreet.weei.com/sports/boston/basketball/celtics/2013/05/10/kevin-garnetts-future-determines-celtics-ability-to-be-competitive-next-few-seasons/" target="_blank">Justin Barrasso of WEEI.com</a>.</li>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p><strong>Stan Van Gundy</strong>&#39;s name has been linked to the head coaching search in Milwaukee and the potential opening in Los Angeles, should the <strong>Clippers</strong> part ways with <strong>Vinny Del Negro</strong>, but it doesn&#39;t appear he&#39;ll be targeted by the <strong>Nets</strong>. ESPN.com&#39;s Chris Broussard reported <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/nets-contact-jackson-like-brown-and-shaw.html" target="_blank">earlier this week</a> that Van Gundy wasn&#39;t on Brooklyn&#39;s list, and Chris Mannix of SI.com <a href="http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/blogs/open-mike/os-nets-stan-van-gundy-jeff-van-gundy-20130509,0,168712.post" target="_blank">echoed that report</a> on Mike Bianchi&#39;s Open Mike radio show in Orlando.</p>
<p><em>&quot;I&#39;ve spoken to sources who&#39;ve told me ... Stan Van Gundy is not a
candidate,&quot;</em> Mannix said. <em>&quot;It&#39;s possible that
 <strong>Jeff Van Gundy</strong> could get a call, but from what I understand Stan Van
Gundy is not a top candidate for that job.&quot;</em></p>
<p>Here are a few more notes from around the Atlantic Division:</p>
<ul>
<li>A source tells <a href="http://snynets.com/columns/source-90-95-percent-chance-bojan-bogdanovic-joins-nets-next-season/" target="_blank">Josh Newman of SNY.tv</a> that there&#39;s a 90-95% chance of 2011 second-rounder <strong>Bojan Bogdanovic</strong> joining the <strong>Nets</strong> for the 2013/14 season. Earlier in the week, GM <strong>Billy King</strong> <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/nets-rumors-blatche-shaw-bogdanovic.html" target="_blank">indicated</a> he was hoping to bring Bogdanovic stateside this year.<strong></strong></li>
<li><strong>Sixers</strong> players won&#39;t be deciding on the team&#39;s next head coach, but if they did have a vote, it sounds as if it would go to current assistant <strong>Michael Curry</strong>. As <a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sixers/20130509_Sixers_should_promote_Curry__Holiday_says.html" target="_blank">John N. Mitchell of the Philadelphia Inquirer</a> writes, both <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/holidjr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Jrue Holiday</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/t/turneev01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Evan Turner</a></strong> endorsed Curry for the position.</li>
<li>Most of the interviews conducted by the <strong>Sixers</strong> as they search for a new coach will take place during or after next week&#39;s predraft camp in Chicago, according to <a href="http://www.phillyburbs.com/sports/sixers/most-interviews-unlikely-until-after-predraft-camp/article_31fddd53-3694-5aee-be6b-3721adb0c7d2.html" target="_blank">Tom Moore of PhillyBurbs.com</a>.</li>
<li>Will the long-rumored <strong>Celtics</strong>&#39; rebuild finally get underway in earnest this summer? <a href="http://www.hoopsworld.com/celtics-should-wait-until-2014-to-reload" target="_blank">Stephen Brotherson of HoopsWorld</a> makes a case for why the C&#39;s should let things ride with <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/piercpa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Paul  Pierce</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/garneke01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Kevin  Garnett</a></strong> for one more year.</li>
<li>In an <a href="http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/9258927/nba-chris-broussard-ranks-all-nba-coaching-options" target="_blank">Insider-only piece for ESPN.com</a>, Broussard spoke to one of the NBA&#39;s top assistant coaches about the most desirable current or potential head coaching jobs this summer. The unnamed assistant ranked the <strong>Nets</strong>&#39; job as the top option, with the <strong>Raptors</strong> and <strong>Sixers</strong> coming in at fifth and sixth, respectively.</li>
