<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>Considering the rumblings that <strong>Pistons</strong> GM <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/d/dumarjo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Joe Dumars</a></strong> had his sights set on either <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/mcmilna01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Nate McMillan</a></strong> or <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/cheekma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Maurice Cheeks</a></strong> as the team&#39;s next head coach, along with the notion that Dumars had apparently hoped to make a hire before the start of last week&#39;s NBA Pre-Draft Camp in Chicago, <a href="http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/9305351/nba-phil-jackson-power-play-detroit-pistons" target="_blank">ESPN&#39;s Chris Broussard</a> wonders if the hold up with regards to a coaching decision gives any indication that <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/jacksph01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Phil Jackson</a>&#0160;</strong>- recently tabbed as an adviser for the head coaching search -&#0160;could soon be running Detroit&#39;s front office (Insiders only). According to popular thought around the league, <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/shawbr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Brian Shaw</a></strong> would be Jackson&#39;s first choice, and while some insist that Dumars is still in charge as the general manager, Broussard suggests that their next coaching hire will be a strong indicator of how much control the Pistons legend still has of the franchise. Here are more notes out of the Eastern Conference tonight:&#0160;</p>
<ul>
<li>Jackson - a member of two championship <strong>Knicks</strong> teams as a player - spoke with <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/24/sports/basketball/teams-need-help-but-phil-jackson-stays-on-the-perimeter.html?ref=sports&amp;_r=2&amp;" target="_blank">Harvey Araton of the New York Times</a> about the current makeup of his former team and how he compares them with their cross-town rival <strong>Nets</strong>: <em>&quot;(The Knicks)&#0160;still have to find some accommodating group of guys that know how to play ball together, move the ball, play the game the right way...With Brooklyn, if you’ve got a point guard and a solid center, or a good point guard and a great center, you’ve got two of the pieces that you want to have toward a champion.”</em></li>
<li>According to an&#0160;<a href="http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/netsblog/realistic_nets_goals_totally_winning_hRqf0vSDhmq5IO0IeBTetL?utm_medium=rss&amp;utm_content=%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20Nets%20Blog#axzz2UAHmcbVc" target="_blank">NY Post report</a>&#0160;(via the Associated Press), former Nets coach&#0160;<strong>P.J. Carlesimo</strong>&#0160;is interested in remaining as an ESPN analyst just through the postseason and would consider a coaching opportunity if it presented itself afterward.&#0160;</li>
<li><strong>Celtics</strong> big man <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/sullija01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Jared  Sullinger</a></strong> tells <a href="http://greenstreet.weei.com/sports/boston/basketball/celtics/2013/05/23/jared-sullinger-ill-be-100-percent-by-september/" target="_blank">Ben Rohrbach of WEEI.com</a> that he should be 100% healthy by September or October.&#0160;</li>

The source also said that after the <strong>Clippers</strong> released <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/d/delnevi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Vinny Del Negro</a></strong>, the feeling in Mavs camp is that <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/paulch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Chris Paul</a></strong> would likely stay in Los Angeles considering he&#39;d be given significant control over the next coaching hire. With that being said, <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/howardw01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Dwight Howard</a></strong> continues to be the team&#39;s top priority. Here are few more miscellaneous notes from around the league:</p>
<ul>
<li>Though the future of&#0160;Grizzlies&#0160;coach&#0160;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/hollili01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Lionel Hollins</a></strong>&#0160;still remains uncertain, the impending free agent coach says that he&#39;s not worried about an extension or heading elsewhere and is currently focused on the playoffs,&#0160;<em>&quot;I have a job...I&#39;m happy with where we are and excited about what we&#39;re doing. That&#39;s my only concern. Everything else is irrelevant&quot;&#0160;</em>(<a href="http://www.nba.com/2013/news/05/23/hollins-not-focused-on-contract.ap/index.html?rss=true" target="_blank">Teresa M. Walker of NBA.com</a>).&#0160;</li>
<li><strong>Erik Spoelstra</strong> was pleased about <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/jonesja02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">James Jones</a></strong>&#39; decision to not opt out at the end of this year and thus return to the <strong>Heat</strong> next season, says Chris Tomasson of FOX Sports Florida (<a href="http://sulia.com/channel/miami-heat/f/093182b6-fe57-495e-833f-c5154570da6e/?source=twitter" target="_blank">Sulia</a> link). Spoelstra:&#0160;<em>&quot;It&#39;s great news...J.J. is a Miami Heat guy. (He and <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/hasleud01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Udonis Haslem</a></strong>), they&#39;re special. All of our guys are special in this organization, but they&#39;re Miami-bred guys. They&#39;re Miami true and blue.&quot;</em></li>
<li>Ken Berger of CBS Sports <a href="https://twitter.com/KBergCBS/status/337693658017050624" target="_blank">tweeted</a> that <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/hornaje01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Jeff  Hornacek</a></strong> interviewed with the <strong>Bobcats</strong> today and that <strong>Steve Clifford</strong> is headed for his next interview with the <strong>Suns</strong>, respectively.&#0160;</li>
<li>If there&#39;s any coach that isn&#39;t confident about his team making significant improvements next season, it&#39;s definitely not <strong>Wizards</strong> head coach <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/wittmra01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Randy Wittman</a></strong>, who told CSN Washington: <em>&quot;It doesn&#39;t matter with the No. 3 pick. If we could stay healthy and come together as we did last year, have a full season right from the start, we should put ourselves in that (playoff) position...It doesn&#39;t matter if we pick eighth, third or 30th&quot;</em>&#0160;(<a href="http://www.csnwashington.com/basketball-washington-wizards/talk/wittman-wiz-are-playoff-team-without-no-3-pick" target="_blank">J. Michael of CSN Washington</a>).</li>
<li><a href="http://www.ridiculousupside.com/2013/5/23/4360492/nba-d-league-champion-mike-singletary-currently-playing-well-overseas" target="_blank">Keith Schlosser of Ridiculous Upside</a> sheds some light on <strong>Mike Singletary</strong> (not to be confused with the current NFL assistant coach), who has been making waves for his standout play overseas. The 6&#39;6 swingman, who recently won the NBDL title with the <strong>Rio Grande Valley Vipers</strong>, has been playing for <strong>Barako Bull Energy Cola</strong> - a PBA team currently participating in a tournament in Dubai. With his solid production in the D-League (10.1 PPG and 4.9 RPG along with 41% shooting from long range in 49 games) and his experience with competitive international play, Schlosser thinks that the next step would involve an NBA summer league invite and is curious to see what kind of opportunities Singletary could find heading up to the start of NBA training camp in the fall.&#0160;</li>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>Coming into the Conference Finals, the Grizzlies were viewed by many pundits and observers as a decent bet to knock off the Spurs. Memphis had won eight of its last nine games against two top-five teams in the Western Conference - the Clippers and Thunder - and the Grizzlies&#39; 2011 upset of the Spurs was still fresh in most fans&#39; minds.</p>
<p>On the other hand, not many of us gave the Pacers much chance against the defending champion Heat. The presence of <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/jamesle01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">LeBron James</a></strong> and Indiana&#39;s lack of depth had most prognosticators taking Miami in five or six games.</p>
<p>So far, neither the Grizzlies or Pacers have managed to win a game in their respective Conference Finals, but there&#39;s reason to believe there&#39;s still hope for a comeback on each team&#39;s part. The Grizzlies are heading back home coming off a tight overtime loss, while the Pacers were a buzzer-beating LeBron layup away from stealing Game One in Miami.</p>
<p>With the Grizzlies down 2-0 and the Pacers down 1-0, there&#39;s a good chance neither team will complete a comeback. But if you had to bet on one of the two, which underdog do you feel has the better chance to pull off the upset?</p>

But now, with Miami just seven wins away from capturing back-to-back championships, Jones tells <a href="http://www.foxsportsflorida.com/nba/miami-heat/story/James-Jones-plans-to-return-to-Heat-next?blockID=904759&amp;feedID=10140" target="_blank">Chris Tomasson of FOX Sports Florida</a> that he&#39;s no longer considering retiring. According to Tomasson, Jones will pick up his $1.5MM player option and return to the Heat.</p>
<p><em>&quot;Unless something crazy happens, I’ll be back,&quot;</em> Jones confirmed.</p>
<p>Jones, 32, played an extremely limited role for the Heat in 2012/13. His 5.8 minutes per game were the fewest he&#39;s seen since he averaged 4.3 MPG in six contests during his rookie season in &#39;03/04. However, Tomasson speculates that Jones could see the court a little more next season, depending on a pair of roster decisions on the team&#39;s other shooters. <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/allenra02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Ray Allen</a></strong> has a player option for next year that he may or may not exercise, while the Heat could use the amnesty provision to cut <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/millemi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Mike Miller</a></strong>.</p>
<p>As for his next career move when his contract with the Heat expires in the summer of 2014, Jones was unwilling to commit to anything quite yet: <em>&quot;I got one more year, and we’ll see where it goes from there.&quot;</em></p></div>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>The <strong>Nets</strong>&#39; win in Chicago last night ensured that we&#39;ll get at least one Game Seven in the first round of this year&#39;s playoffs, but if we&#39;re lucky, we could do a lot better than that. With four Game Sixes on tap for tonight, including two more Eastern Conference series, there&#39;s a chance this year&#39;s first round could break the NBA record for most Game Sevens in a single playoff round. According to ESPN.com&#39;s Marc Stein (<a href="https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine/status/330375801080004609" target="_blank">via Twitter</a>), there has never been more than three in a round. However, Winderman adds that a defensive third-string point guard like Beverley could have come in handy for Miami, and &quot;it&#39;s not as if there wasn&#39;t roster space to try to make it work.&quot; The Heat signed Beverley to a guaranteed two-year deal in 2010, but cut him shortly thereafter.</li>

Here are a few highlights from his piece:</p>
<ul>
<li>The <strong>Lakers</strong> will be able to offer <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/howardw01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Dwight Howard</a></strong> over $30MM more than any other team, as I <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/03/max-contract-scenarios-for-2013-free-agents.html" target="_blank">outlined here</a>, but that doesn&#39;t mean he&#39;s a sure bet to be back. As Kyler notes, money and market are usually deciding factors, but L.A. will have to convince Howard that he won&#39;t be signing up for five more years as bad as 2012/13.</li>
<li><strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/pachuza01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Zaza Pachulia</a></strong> will be recovering from a partially torn Achilles, raising significant questions about his next contract. The <strong>Hawks</strong> are unlikely to bring him back for more than the minimum, according to Kyler.</li>
<li>With Pachulia out in Atlanta, <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/petrojo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Johan Petro</a></strong> has improved his stock recently and could be in line for a new deal with the <strong>Hawks</strong>, particularly if the team strikes out on higher-profile targets.</li>
<li>Despite a <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/04/nuggets-will-tender-qualifying-offer-to-mozgov.html" target="_blank">report suggesting</a> the <strong>Nuggets</strong> will extend a qualifying offer to <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/mozgoti01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Timofey Mozgov</a></strong>, Kyler is skeptical that Denver will really make such an offer (one year for nearly $4MM), since Mozgov could accept it. A two-year deal from another team is the most likely scenario for Mozgov, in Kyler&#39;s view. There has been enough reported interest for Mozgov that it wouldn&#39;t surprise me if the Nuggets retained him and considered him a trade asset going forward.</li>
<li>Kyler hears from sources that when <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/d/dalemsa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Samuel Dalembert</a></strong> worked out for the <strong>Heat</strong> prior to the 2011/12 season, the team decided he had put on too much weight, and passed. As such, it&#39;s probably unlikely that Dalembert ends up in Miami this offseason.</li>
<li>Although <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/biedran01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Andris Biedrins</a></strong> is viewed as a lock to opt in to the final year of his contract, worth $9MM, Kyler wonders if the <strong>Warriors</strong> could convince him to opt out if it meant adding an extra year to his deal. For instance, the team could re-sign him to a two-year, $10MM pact to reduce his cap hit for 2013/14. I&#39;d be surprised to see that happen though.</li>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>Ever since rapper Jay-Z announced that he would be making a foray into sports representation with his Roc Nation company, there has been speculation that he could sign longtime friend <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/jamesle01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">LeBron James</a></strong>. &#0160;However, there is no reason to believe that James will abandon Klutch Sports to sign on with Jay-Z, a source tells <a href="http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/2013/04/27/lebron-james-jay-z-worldwide-wes-creative-artists-agency-klutch-sports-bill-simmons/2116647/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+UsatodaycomNba-TopStories+%28Sports+-+NBA+-+Top+Stories%29" target="_blank">Sam Amick of USA Today</a>.</p>
<p>The theory that James would hook on with Jay-Z&#39;s company centers around the star&#39;s relationship with William &quot;Worldwide Wes&quot; Wesley. &#0160;Wesley is a part of CAA Sports, the company that has partnered with Jay-Z but also lost James as a client in September when he left for the newly formed Klutch Sports, captained by former CAA agent Rich Paul. </p>
<p>However, James has long since moved on from the &quot;Worldwide Wes&quot; chapter of his life and according to one source, the two hardly, if ever, speak these days. &#0160;Without that bridge, there&#39;s little reason to believe that James would consider a reunion with CAA. &#0160;Even if that connection was still in place, it would still be a stretch for him to come back to his old agency less than a year after parting ways.</p>

If it&#39;s up to him, his stay in Miami will extend beyond this season, as agent Mark Bryant told Chris Tomasson of FOX Sports Florida (<a href="http://sulia.com/channel/miami-heat/f/d04db773-0b72-4f21-9193-f6dfb8a41ac9/?source=twitter" target="_blank">Sulia link</a>).</p>
<p><em>&quot;We’re certainly hopeful,&quot;</em> Bryant said of the possibility of Andersen
 re-signing with the Heat. <em>&quot;But he’s going to finish this task first (of
 trying to win a title with Miami). But, absolutely, he has embraced
(being with the Heat).&quot;</em></p>
<p>Andersen is in his first year with the Heat, which means, somewhat ironically, that the Birdman only has Non-Bird rights. Because he&#39;s on a minimum-salary contract with Miami, the team&#39;s ability to offer him a raise next year is limited. The Heat could elect to use all or some of its mid-level exception, which will have a starting salary of $3.183MM, on Andersen, but the club figures to explore outside options as well with that exception.</p>
<p>Given the Heat&#39;s recent success, there will likely be several veteran players interested in that mid-level exception in free agency this summer. Earlier this week, <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/04/samuel-dalembert-has-interest-in-heat.html" target="_blank">we heard</a> that <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/d/dalemsa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Samuel Dalembert</a></strong>, whose Bucks are currently facing the Heat in the playoffs, has interest in signing with Miami for next season.</p></div>

Sports</a> tackles that subject in his latest column, so let&#39;s round up the highlights....</p>
<ul>
<li>One former Cavs staffer told Wojnarowski that <em>&quot;the way Mike had to bend for LeBron weakened him as a leader. They&#39;d be crazy to put him
 through that again. It&#39;s pointless.&quot;</em></li>
<li>One league source tells Wojnarowski &quot;there are still some scars&quot; when it
 comes to Brown and the Cavs, primarily centered on the coach&#39;s
relationship with Dan Gilbert, who fired him in 2010.</li>
<li>Agent Rich Paul has created anticipation for LeBron&#39;s possible return to the Cavs in 2014, but according to Wojnarowski, <em>&quot;the idea of returning as the conquering hero is probably much more romantic than reality.&quot;</em> Wojnarowski suggests that it&#39;s &quot;unfathomable&quot; that James would trade Miami, <strong>Erik Spoelstra</strong>, and <strong>Pat Riley</strong> for a return to Cleveland.</li>
<li>According to Wojnarowski, the Cavs have privately pitched the idea of trading young players and draft picks to the Trail Blazers for <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/aldrila01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">LaMarcus Aldridge</a></strong>.</li>
<li>Such a deal with Portland is unlikely to ever happen, says Wojnarowski, since the Cavs value their young players like <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/t/thomptr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Tristan Thompson</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/waitedi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Dion Waiters</a></strong> more than other teams around the league do.</li>

If he does see action during Milwaukee&#39;s first round series though, he may be auditioning for his next team. The free-agent-to-be told <a href="http://www.foxsportsflorida.com/nba/miami-heat/story/Dalembert-interested-in-joining-Heat-nex?blockID=894773&amp;feedID=3720" target="_blank">Chris Tomasson of FOX Sports Florida</a> that &quot;the Heat will definitely be an option&quot; when he searches for a new contract this summer.</p>
<p><em>&quot;I love that option,&quot;</em> Dalembert said of Miami&#39;s proximity to Haiti, where he was born. <em>&quot;That’s an option to move back and forth… I
have a lot of family (in South Florida) and we have a lot of
concentrated Haitian population here.&quot;</em></p>
<p>The Heat have had interest in Dalembert in the past, having explored signing him for their $3MM mini mid-level exception prior to the 2011/12 season. The big man had reservations about signing for that amount, and eventually landed a two-year, $13MM+ deal with the Bucks, while the Heat used their MLE on <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/battish01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Shane Battier</a></strong>.</p>
<p>Whether or not Miami will pursue Dalembert again this summer remains to be seen, and could depend on whether the team decides to re-sign <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/anderch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Chris Andersen</a></strong>, as Tomasson notes. As for Dalembert, he&#39;ll be looking for a chance to compete for a championship, and the Heat are a good bet to start next season as title favorites once again.</p>
<p><em>&quot;It’s up to them and seeing what’s going to be out there,&quot;</em> Dalembert said. <em>&quot;But at this
point you want to be with a contending team. You don’t want to go
backwards, so you want to chase that promised land.&quot;</em></p></div>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>Yesterday was the first day since 1974 that two pro basketball teams held playoff games in New York, and the <strong>Knicks</strong> and <strong>Nets</strong> made the most of it. We&#39;ll round it up here:</p>
<ul>
<li>Riley suggested the team may need a new, high-dollar local television contract to absorb the tax hit necessary to keep <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/jamesle01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">LeBron James</a></strong>, <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/wadedw01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Dwyane Wade</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/boshch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Chris Bosh</a></strong> together beyond 2014, when they can all opt out and become free agents. A <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2012/06/southeast-notes-hennigan-heat-wizards-bobcats.html" target="_blank">report</a> last summer suggested the team was in talks with Fox Sports about a deal that would pay them $80MM-$100MM per season, but both the team and Fox denied it.&#0160;</li>
<li>Riley thinks keeping the team together is &quot;doable&quot; and said the front office has already begun to craft its plan for doing so, but said it&#39;s ultimately up to Micky Arison to decide how much he wants to shell out.</li>
<li>Coach <strong>Erik Spoelstra</strong> was the driving force behind the team&#39;s midseason acquisition of <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/anderch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Chris Andersen</a></strong>. <em>&quot;If I got another text from (Spoelstra) about getting Chris Andersen, I was going to put my hands around his neck,&quot;</em> Riley quipped.</li>
<li>Riley declined comment on Spoelstra&#39;s contract, which runs out after next season.</li>
<li>The team believes Wade can handle point guard duties in case <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/chalmma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Mario Chalmers</a></strong> or <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/coleno01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Norris Cole</a></strong> goes down, and that&#39;s why they didn&#39;t seek more depth at the position this season.</li>
<li>It doesn&#39;t seem as though the Heat will fully embrace analytics anytime soon, as Riley said proponents of advance metrics &quot;make me squeamy a little bit,&quot; Haberstroh <a href="https://twitter.com/tomhaberstroh/status/325337682458853377" target="_blank">tweets</a>.</li>
