<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>The Eastern Conference Finals resume tonight after a stirring overtime contest in Game One. The <strong>Pacers</strong> will have to find a way to come up with a win in Miami after squandering a chance in the opener. If they don&#39;t, it will soon be open season for teams going after Indiana GM <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/pritcke01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Kevin Pritchard</a></strong> and assistant coach <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/shawbr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Brian Shaw</a></strong>. While we wait to see how the postseason turns out, here&#39;s the latest on what will happen for a few Eastern teams and players in the future:</p>
<ul>
<li>In an interview with&#0160;<a href="http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/knicks/post/_/id/44998/prigioni-eyes-return-but-open-to-options" target="_blank">Jared Zwerling of ESPNNewYork.com</a>,&#0160;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/prigipa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Pablo Prigioni</a></strong> expounds on his&#0160;<a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/pablo-prigioni-could-return-to-spain.html" target="_blank">desire to return</a>&#0160;to the <strong>Knicks</strong> while acknowledging that there could be other options for him this summer. The point guard&#0160;hints that his wife&#39;s desire to return to Europe wasn&#39;t as much of a factor in his decision as had been reported.&#0160;<em>&quot;The most important things for me to decide where I want to play is I feel that I can play and help the team, to feel that the team really wants me,&quot;</em>&#0160;Prigioni said.&#0160;<em>&quot;On this professional level, the place where you go is always nice, and the people always take care of you and your family.&quot;&#0160;</em></li>
<li><a href="http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bulls/post/_/id/14254/forman-faces-a-20-million-question" target="_blank">Nick Friedell of ESPNChicago.com</a>&#0160;looks to the summer ahead for the <strong>Bulls</strong>, as well as what could be a key negotiation in 2014 with former first-round pick <strong>Nikola Mirotic</strong>. The power forward from Montenegro appears to have the most leverage, Friedell writes, making it uncertain whether the Bulls will be able to sign him anytime soon.</li>
<li>While the <strong>Nets&#0160;</strong><a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/steins-latest-clippers-david-west-ujiri-nets.html" target="_blank">appear to have interest</a>&#0160;in<strong> Grizzlies</strong> coach <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/hollili01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Lionel  Hollins</a></strong>, they have yet to ask Memphis for permission to speak with him, USA Today&#39;s Sam Amick reports via&#0160;<a href="https://twitter.com/sam_amick/status/338078855556382720" target="_blank">Twitter</a>.</li>
<li><a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sixers/20130525_Predicting_the_NBA_draft.html" target="_blank">Tyler Tynes of the Philadelphia Inquirer</a>&#0160;tries his hand at a mock draft, predicting that the<strong> Sixers</strong> will come away with <strong>Cody Zeller</strong> at No. 11. Tynes adds that he wouldn&#39;t be surprised to see the team trade down instead.&#0160;</li>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>Considering the rumblings that <strong>Pistons</strong> GM <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/d/dumarjo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Joe Dumars</a></strong> had his sights set on either <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/mcmilna01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Nate McMillan</a></strong> or <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/cheekma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Maurice Cheeks</a></strong> as the team&#39;s next head coach, along with the notion that Dumars had apparently hoped to make a hire before the start of last week&#39;s NBA Pre-Draft Camp in Chicago, <a href="http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/9305351/nba-phil-jackson-power-play-detroit-pistons" target="_blank">ESPN&#39;s Chris Broussard</a> wonders if the hold up with regards to a coaching decision gives any indication that <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/jacksph01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Phil Jackson</a>&#0160;</strong>- recently tabbed as an adviser for the head coaching search -&#0160;could soon be running Detroit&#39;s front office (Insiders only). According to popular thought around the league, <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/shawbr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Brian Shaw</a></strong> would be Jackson&#39;s first choice, and while some insist that Dumars is still in charge as the general manager, Broussard suggests that their next coaching hire will be a strong indicator of how much control the Pistons legend still has of the franchise. Here are more notes out of the Eastern Conference tonight:&#0160;</p>
<ul>
<li>Jackson - a member of two championship <strong>Knicks</strong> teams as a player - spoke with <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/24/sports/basketball/teams-need-help-but-phil-jackson-stays-on-the-perimeter.html?ref=sports&amp;_r=2&amp;" target="_blank">Harvey Araton of the New York Times</a> about the current makeup of his former team and how he compares them with their cross-town rival <strong>Nets</strong>: <em>&quot;(The Knicks)&#0160;still have to find some accommodating group of guys that know how to play ball together, move the ball, play the game the right way...With Brooklyn, if you’ve got a point guard and a solid center, or a good point guard and a great center, you’ve got two of the pieces that you want to have toward a champion.”</em></li>
<li>According to an&#0160;<a href="http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/netsblog/realistic_nets_goals_totally_winning_hRqf0vSDhmq5IO0IeBTetL?utm_medium=rss&amp;utm_content=%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20Nets%20Blog#axzz2UAHmcbVc" target="_blank">NY Post report</a>&#0160;(via the Associated Press), former Nets coach&#0160;<strong>P.J. Carlesimo</strong>&#0160;is interested in remaining as an ESPN analyst just through the postseason and would consider a coaching opportunity if it presented itself afterward.&#0160;</li>
<li><strong>Celtics</strong> big man <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/sullija01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Jared  Sullinger</a></strong> tells <a href="http://greenstreet.weei.com/sports/boston/basketball/celtics/2013/05/23/jared-sullinger-ill-be-100-percent-by-september/" target="_blank">Ben Rohrbach of WEEI.com</a> that he should be 100% healthy by September or October.&#0160;</li>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>Knicks general manager <strong>Glen Grunwald</strong> spoke to the media today, reflecting on a Knicks season that ended with a second-round loss to the Pacers and looking ahead to the team&#39;s plans for the coming summer. A number of New York reporters, including Al Iannazzone of Newsday, Ian Begley of ESPNNewYork.com, Marc Berman of the New York Post, and Adam Zagoria of SNY.tv, passed along a few of Grunwald&#39;s more notable comments, so let&#39;s round them up:</p>
<ul>
<li>The Knicks will focus on continuing to build and add to their core group, but won&#39;t be able to acquire anyone via sign-and-trade, says Grunwald (<a href="https://twitter.com/Al_Iannazzone/status/336857072337555456" target="_blank">Twitter link</a>). That rules out the pursuit of a top free agent like <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/paulch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Chris Paul</a></strong>.</li>
<li>New York will have access to the taxpayer mid-level exception rather than the full $5.15MM MLE, and Grunwald says the club may have to dip into it to match offer sheets for restricted free agents <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/prigipa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Pablo Prigioni</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/copelch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Chris Copeland</a></strong> (<a href="https://twitter.com/IanBegley/status/336862272876077056" target="_blank">Twitter link</a>).</li>
<li>Despite the team&#39;s limited cap flexibility, Grunwald is confident the team can be &quot;creative&quot; when it comes to adding talent, noting that the Knicks &quot;have some ideas&quot; for what can be done (<a href="https://twitter.com/AdamZagoria/status/336856115365158912" target="_blank">Twitter link</a>).</li>
<li>After speaking to <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/k/kiddja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Jason Kidd</a></strong>, Grunwald is confident the veteran point guard will be back next season, as opposed to retiring (<a href="https://twitter.com/Al_Iannazzone/status/336856760453300224" target="_blank">Twitter link</a>).</li>
<li>Grunwald declined to comment on <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/smithjr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">J.R.  Smith</a></strong>&#39;s free agency, but added: <em>&quot;I don’t think you should read that one way or another&quot;</em> (<a href="https://twitter.com/IanBegley/status/336875079952646146" target="_blank">Twitter link</a>).</li>
<li>Although Grunwald was disappointed by the way the Knicks&#39; season ended, he stressed that he likes the team and is excited about its future (<a href="http://sulia.com/channel/new-york-knicks/f/f15c13e0-597b-4a94-9259-ad57ea8da998/?source=twitter" target="_blank">Sulia link</a>).</li>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>The <strong>Raptors</strong> have scheduled a pair of conference calls this morning, one with MLSE president/CEO <strong>Tim Leiweke</strong> and one with <strong>Bryan Colangelo</strong>, who appears to be <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/colangelo-to-take-new-role-with-raptors.html" target="_blank">taking on a new non-basketball role</a> with the franchise. While we await word on Colangelo&#39;s official title, let&#39;s check in on a few other notes related to the Raptors&#39; front office changes and related to one of Toronto&#39;s division rivals....</p>
<ul>
<li>The <strong>Raptors</strong>&#39; top target to replace Colangelo as the head of
basketball operations, <strong>Masai Ujiri</strong>, isn&#39;t going to talk to Leiweke before Wednesday, says <a href="http://thestar.blogs.com/raptors/2013/05/raps-want-to-hit-a-home-run-theyve-got-babe-ruth-here-now.html" target="_blank">Doug Smith of the Toronto Star</a>.
 Smith also suggests that if the Raptors miss out on Ujiri, they should
try to convince current advisor <strong>Wayne Embry</strong> to become the team&#39;s new
president.</li>
<li><a href="http://sports.nationalpost.com/2013/05/20/bryan-colangelo-has-little-to-show-for-tumultuous-tenure-as-raptors-gm/" target="_blank">Bruce Arthur</a> and <a href="http://sports.nationalpost.com/2013/05/20/bryan-colangelo-out-as-raptors-gm-highly-touted-executive-proves-not-to-be-saviour/" target="_blank">Eric Koreen</a> of the National Post each provide retrospectives for Colangelo&#39;s tenure as the <strong>Raptors</strong>&#39; general manager.</li>
<li>A few days after <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/copelch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Chris Copeland</a></strong>&#39;s agent <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/chris-copeland-to-push-for-raise.html" target="_blank">said</a> that money would be an important factor in free agency this summer, Copeland stressed that he&#39;s &quot;never chased the highest bidder,&quot; as <a href="http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/hope_for_cope_FswFVSxPA7imG11AV6HH2K" target="_blank">Mark Hale of the New York Post</a> details. <em>&quot;I love it here [with the <strong>Knicks</strong>],&quot;</em> Copeland said. <em>&quot;The finances play a part, but I have a lot of emotional ties here that it would be harder for me to break.&quot;</em></li>
<li>In his <a href="http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/melo_too_early_to_think_about_opting_twULD1X2ncUtyHXLmhm9RJ" target="_blank">latest piece for the New York Post</a>, Marc Berman touches on the contract situations for a number of <strong>Knicks</strong> players. The highlights: <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/chandty01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Tyson Chandler</a></strong> says he&#39;s not sure whether or not <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/k/kiddja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Jason Kidd</a></strong> will continue his playing career, while <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/anthoca01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Carmelo Anthony</a></strong> expresses a desire to see <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/smithjr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">J.R. We rounded up <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/knicks-notes.html" target="_blank">more</a> on the Knicks earlier today, and here&#39;s the latest on their division rivals:</div>
<ul>
<li>One NBA executive tells <a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sixers/20130520_Lots_of_chatter_about_upcoming_Sixers_decisions.html" target="_blank">Bob Cooney of the Philadelphia Daily News</a> that he isn&#39;t sure new <strong>Sixers</strong> GM <strong>Sam Hinkie</strong> can handle the team&#39;s basketball decisions. <em>&quot;I don&#39;t think they are leaning on <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/t/thornro01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Rod Thorn</a></strong> as much as they should or he wants and I heard there still might be changes to the front office,&quot;</em> the exec said. Another rival executive tells Cooney the Sixers have put their coaching search on the backburner.</li>
<li>Hinkie was part of a <strong>Rockets</strong> front office that was aggressive in making moves that allowed the team to acquire a star player, and he says he&#39;ll bring that approach to the <strong>Sixers</strong>, notes&#0160;<a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sixers/20130520_Expect_lots_of_turnover_if_Sixers_follow_the_Rockets_model.html" target="_blank">Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer</a>.</li>

He wasn’t ready to work out — I mean, not like a real workout. We’ll probably check into that some time this summer.&quot;</em></li>
<li>Bulpett hears that <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/riverdo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Doc Rivers</a></strong> isn&#39;t high on 2012 first-rounder <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/melofa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Fab Melo</a></strong>, but Ainge disputes the idea, pointing out that Rivers didn&#39;t get much of chance to see the former Syracuse center who spent much of his rookie season in the D-League.</li>
<li><strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/walkebi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Bill Walker</a></strong>, who split five NBA seasons between the <strong>Knicks</strong> and <strong>Celtics</strong>, has signed to play in Venezuela with Trotamundos de Carabobo, while <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/collima01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Mardy Collins</a></strong>, a first-round draft pick of the <strong>Knicks</strong> in 2006, has joined Guaros de Lara, another Venezuelan team, as Sportando&#39;s Emiliano Carchia passes along in a <a href="http://www.sportando.net/eng/world/america/55820/trotamundos-de-carabobo-sign-bill-walker-summers.html" target="_blank">pair</a> of <a href="http://www.sportando.net/eng/world/america/55843/guaros-de-lara-sign-mardy-collins.html" target="_blank">reports</a>.&#0160;</li>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>The <strong>Knicks</strong> season ended last night when the <strong>Pacers</strong> defeated them in Indiana to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.&#0160;The <strong>Knicks</strong> were the oldest team in NBA history for the 2012/13 season, and they have a lot of offseason decisions to reach in lieu of their loss to the <strong>Pacers</strong>.&#0160;</p>
<p>The first such decision concerns the 2013 Sixth Man of the Year, <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/smithjr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">J.R. Smith</a></strong>. <strong>Smith</strong> recently <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/atlantic-rumors-amare-prigioni-jackson-rondo.html" target="_blank">reiterated his desire</a> to remain in a <strong>Knicks</strong> uniform next year despite the popular consensus he&#39;ll opt out of the contract that will pay him $2.9MM next season. He tweeted about wanting to return (<a href="https://twitter.com/TheRealJRSmith/status/336245394738667520" target="_blank">Twitter link</a>) today as <a href="http://www.sheridanhoops.com/2013/05/19/tweet-of-the-night-j-r-smith-6/" target="_blank">SheridonHoops.com&#39;s Ben Baroff</a> pointed out. But <strong>Smith</strong> isn&#39;t the only question mark as the <strong>Knicks</strong> head into the offseason after their best playoff performance in more than a decade.</p>
<ul>
<li>Despite a postseason showing that saw them get out of the first round for the first time since the 1999/00 season, <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/20/sports/basketball/for-knicks-already-out-of-playoffs-magic-may-run-out.html?smid=tw-share&amp;_r=0" target="_blank">Howard Beck at the New York Times writes</a> that with very little cap flexbility, the <strong>Knicks</strong>&#39; window for continued postseason magic may have run out.&#0160;</li>
<li><a href="http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/knicks/post/_/id/44660/five-pressing-issues-facing-knicks" target="_blank">Ian Begley at ESPNNewYork.com</a>&#0160;brings readers through five pressing issues the <strong>Knicks</strong> face this summer, including what to do with <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/stoudam01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Amar&#39;e Stoudemire</a></strong>, who didn&#39;t start a single game this season after <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/anthoca01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Carmelo Anthony</a></strong> agreed to play power forward in&#0160;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/woodsmi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Mike Woodson</a></strong>&#39;s small-ball lineup. Begley also discusses whether the Knicks will continue to go small next season.</li>
<li>One of the injuries hampering <strong>Knicks</strong> franchise star&#0160;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/anthoca01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Carmelo Anthony</a></strong>&#0160;this postseason, was his left shoulder. Frank Isola of New York Daily News says Anthony <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/melo-ailing-shoulder-examined-article-1.1348747?localLinksEnabled=false" target="_blank">will have his injured left shoulder examined</a>.&#0160;</li>
<li>Another Eastern Conference team that was eliminated in the conference semifinals, the <strong>Bulls</strong>, are looking to get healthy this offseason while figuring out what to do in free agency, writes <a href="http://www.csnchicago.com/bulls-talk/injuries-free-agency-bulls-mind-offseason-looms" target="_blank">Aggrey Sam at CSNChicago.com</a>. The free agency questions center around their backcourt,&#0160;since <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/robinna01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Nate Robinson</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/belinma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Marco Belinelli</a></strong> are free agents this summer and the <strong>Bulls</strong> are <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/bulls-expected-to-buy-out-richard-hamilton.html" target="_blank">not likely</a> to pick up <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/hamilri01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Richard Hamilton</a></strong>&#39;s $5MM option next year, but will have to pay him the $1MM that&#39;s guaranteed.</li>
<li>Aggrey Sam at CSNChicago.com also writes that the <strong>Bulls</strong>&#39; draft picks, they hold the 20th and 49th overall selections this June, <a href="http://www.csnchicago.com/bulls-talk/bulls-draft-position-could-be-better-expected" target="_blank">could be a lot better than expected</a> in what is considered a down draft year. A lot of players predicted to be selected in the later rounds of the draft performed well in Chicago&#39;s predraft combine this past week.</li>
<li>&#0160;Mike Ganter of the Toronto Sun, says it&#39;s&#0160;<a href="http://www.torontosun.com/2013/05/19/raptors-time-is-right-to-replace-colangelo" target="_blank">time for <strong>Raptors</strong> general manager <strong>Bryan Colangelo</strong> to go</a>, and with reports the <strong>Raptors</strong>&#0160;are <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/raptors-targeting-masai-ujiri-for-front-office.html" target="_blank">pursuing current <strong>Nuggets</strong> general manager <strong>Masai Ujiri</strong></a>, the end appears close for <strong>Colangelo</strong>. The <strong>Raptors</strong>&#0160;are expected to make a decision about their future general manager some time tomorrow after <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/decision-on-bryan-colangelo-due-by-monday.html" target="_blank">Doug Smith of the Toronto Star</a> reported the <strong>Raptors</strong> have until Monday to exercise or decline their option on <strong>Colangelo </strong>for the 2013/14 season.&#0160;</li>

The Journal Times scribe also touches on offseason rumblings from around the league, and we&#39;ll round up the highlights here:</p>
<ul>
<li>Woelfel hears the <strong>Nets</strong> are &quot;honing in on <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/hollili01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Lionel Hollins</a></strong>&quot; for their coaching vacancy. That would appear to be an exercise in futility, since Hollins says there&#39;s <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/lionel-hollins-grizzlies-say-they-want-me-back.html" target="_blank">mutual interest</a> in his return to the <strong>Grizzlies</strong>, the team he&#39;s guided to the Western Conference Finals. Woelfel also mentions <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/skilesc01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Scott Skiles</a></strong> as a candidate, echoing a <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/odds-ends-nets-cs-bennett-pacers-mavs.html" target="_blank">report</a> by Sam Amick of USA Today earlier this month.</li>
<li>Soon-to-be free agent <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/player_search.cgi?search=Mike+Dunleavy&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Mike Dunleavy</a></strong> has piqued the interest of several teams around the league. I examined Dunleavy&#39;s <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/04/free-agent-stock-watch-mike-dunleavy.html" target="_blank">free agent stock</a> last month, figuring he could fit in as a role player with a title contender.</li>
<li>Woelfel passes along a few draft rumors, noting that <strong>Kelly Olynyk</strong> and <strong>Michael Carter-Williams</strong> will work out for the <strong>Bucks</strong>, while the <strong>Magic, Nets</strong> and <strong>Knicks</strong> have shown interest in <strong>Phil Pressey</strong>. The <strong>Nuggets</strong> interviewed <strong>Otto Porter</strong>.</li>
<li><strong>Bucks</strong> interim coach<strong> Jim Boylan</strong> is gone, but his assistant coaches remain. Their contracts are up at the end of June, along with a couple members of the team&#39;s front office staff, but it remains to be seen whether any of them will return.</li>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>Perhaps the most unlikely success this season in the NBA was enjoyed by 29-year-old Knicks rookie <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/copelch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Chris Copeland</a></strong>, who stuck with the team all season after arriving at training camp with no guaranteed deal. His 13 points helped spark New York&#39;s win in Game Five against the Pacers last night, and agent John Spencer is hoping to turn his surprising performance this season into a financial windfall for his client. Spencer said Copeland wants to find a way to stay with the Knicks, but &quot;wants to get paid&quot; as well.</p>
<p>Zwerling hears three teams are interested in negotiating with Copeland when he becomes a restricted free agent on July 1st. A source told&#0160;<a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/atlantic-notes-cs-copeland-thomas-colangelo.html" target="_blank">Marc Berman of the New York Post</a>&#0160;that Copeland may seek a contract similar to <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/n/novakst01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Steve Novak</a></strong>&#39;s four-year, $16MM deal in the offseason, and Spencer says the same to Zwerling, envisioning the 6&#39;9&quot; forward&#39;s value to merit an annual salary between $3.5MM and $5MM.&#0160;</p>
<p>Copeland is on a minimum-salary deal this year, making just&#0160;$473,604, plus whatever his playoff share from New York&#39;s run will be. The Knicks, a luxury tax team, could use his <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/04/non-bird-rights.html" target="_blank">Non-Bird</a> rights to give him&#0160;$988,872, the amount of his qualifying offer. They could also use their <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/mid-level-exception.html" target="_blank">taxpayer&#39;s mid-level exception</a> to give him up to $3,182,700, but, as our Luke Adams wrote today, that would <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/atlantic-notes-cs-copeland-thomas-colangelo.html" target="_blank">preclude the Knicks</a> from signing many free agents from other teams.</p>
<p>As Zwerling notes, the Knicks have plenty of decisions to make regarding free agents this summer, with Sixth Man of the Year <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/smithjr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">J.R. Smith</a></strong> topping that list.&#0160;Knicks point guard <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/prigipa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Pablo Prigioni</a></strong> is in a situation identical to Copeland&#39;s, though his age (36) may make him less attractive on the market. He&#39;s hinted that he may <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/03/prigioni-unsure-of-nba-future-beyond-201213.html" target="_blank">return overseas</a> next season, but the native of Argentina has also <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/eastern-notes-1.html" target="_blank">expressed a desire</a> to re-sign with the Knicks.</p></div>

<li>Sam Amico of FOX Sports Ohio <a href="https://twitter.com/SamAmicoFSO/status/335473088135303169" target="_blank">tweets</a> that there&#39;s some speculation at the combine that this could finally be the year the No. 1 pick is traded.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>11:44am:</strong> It took us <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/draft-combine-updates-thursday-morning.html" target="_blank">multiple</a> <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/draft-combine-updates-thursday-afternoon.html" target="_blank">posts</a> yesterday to round up all the tidbits trickling out of Chicago, where the NBA is holding its draft combine this week. We&#39;ll see if today is as busy, but in the meantime, here are the latest updates on the 2013 draft:</p>
<ul>
<li>Some NBA executives believe that it&#39;s possible <strong>Shabazz Muhammad</strong> falls out of the top 10 and perhaps even the lottery on draft night, writes <a href="http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2013/05/16/another-hit-to-muhammad-draft-stock/" target="_blank">Scott Howard-Cooper of NBA.com</a>.</li>
<li>In an Insider-only piece, <a href="http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft2013/story/_/id/9284003/2013-nba-draft-draft-measurements-noel-muhammad-concern-some-gms" target="_blank">ESPN.com&#39;s Chad Ford</a> passes along the official measurements on the players in Chicago, and provides a few thoughts on the results.</li>
<li>Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News (<a href="https://twitter.com/timkawakami/status/335425251108347904" target="_blank">Twitter link</a>) hears from an NBA source that the <strong>Warriors</strong> believe they can acquire either a first- or second-round pick in this year&#39;s draft, if they so choose. Kawakami adds in a <a href="https://twitter.com/timkawakami/status/335425545909194752" target="_blank">second tweet</a> that a pick would mostly just cost money, but I&#39;m skeptical that the Warriors could pick up a first-rounder without giving up anything of value, or that they&#39;d even want to add a rookie-scale salary, given their proximity to the tax.</li>
<li><strong>Alex Len</strong> met with the <strong>Bobcats</strong> last night and will meet with the <strong>Cavaliers</strong> today, according to tweets from <a href="https://twitter.com/rick_bonnell/status/335427543211601920" target="_blank">Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer</a> and <a href="https://twitter.com/JasonLloydABJ/status/335426071803600896" target="_blank">Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon-Journal</a>. David Mayo of MLive.com <a href="https://twitter.com/David_Mayo/status/335427144673013760" target="_blank">tweets</a> that Len has nothing set up with the <strong>Pistons</strong> and &quot;wasn&#39;t too enthused&quot; when asked about them -- perhaps that would change if Detroit jumped into the top three in next week&#39;s lottery.</li>
<li>The <strong>Pistons</strong> will meet with <strong>Rudy Gobert</strong> today, <a href="https://twitter.com/Keith_Langlois/status/335427952768581632" target="_blank">tweets</a> Keith Langlois of Pistons.com.</li>
<li><strong>Steven Adams</strong> interviewed with the <strong>Magic</strong> last night, according to Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel (<a href="https://twitter.com/JoshuaBRobbins/status/335426529892921345" target="_blank">Twitter link</a>). Chad Ford heard that Adams was <a href="http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/blog/_/name/nba_draft/id/9285282/2013-nba-draft-notes-day-1-draft-combine" target="_blank">the big winner</a> on the first day of the combine, with &quot;GM after GM&quot; impressed by his showing.</li>
<li><strong>Kelly Olynyk</strong> has met with the <strong>Bucks</strong>, <a href="https://twitter.com/GeryWoelfel/status/335430268737449984" target="_blank">tweets</a> Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times.</li>
<li><strong>Myck Kabongo</strong> met with the <strong>Knicks</strong> and <strong>Trail Blazers</strong> earlier in the week, says <a href="http://thestar.blogs.com/raptors/2013/05/the-combines-like-a-festival-of-basketball.html" target="_blank">Doug Smith of the Toronto Star</a>. <strong>Mason Plumlee</strong> also expects to meet with the Blazers, <a href="https://twitter.com/jwquick/status/335432630675836928" target="_blank">tweets</a> Jason Quick of the Oregonian.</li>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>Let&#39;s round up a few Friday morning items out of the Atlantic Division....</p>
<ul>
<li>When <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/garneke01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Kevin Garnett</a></strong> decided to re-sign with the <strong>Celtics</strong> last summer, it made the rest of the team&#39;s decisions easy, GM <strong>Danny Ainge</strong> tells <a href="http://bostonherald.com/sports/celtics_nba/boston_celtics/2013/05/big_decisions_await_celtics" target="_blank">Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald</a>. However, with more factors in play this offseason, Ainge anticipates more difficult decisions and plenty of possible outcomes for the C&#39;s.</li>
<li><strong>Knicks</strong> GM <strong>Glen Grunwald</strong> is hoping to re-sign <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/copelch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Chris Copeland</a></strong> this summer, but one source tells <a href="http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/copeland_improves_his_stock_Gf8APA5BHWbnv30SVRxzqJ" target="_blank">Marc Berman of the New York Post</a> that the restricted free agent may seek &quot;<strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/n/novakst01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Steve Novak</a></strong> money&quot; (four years, $16MM), which would put him out of New York&#39;s price range. I think if the Knicks were to offer their mini mid-level exception to Copeland, they could re-sign him, but that would rule out the pursuit of many outside free agents.</li>
<li>When <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/t/thomaku01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Kurt Thomas</a></strong> underwent right foot surgery toward the end of this season, it was widely assumed that he may have played his last NBA game. Thomas remains undecided on his future though, suggesting to <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/thomas-won-rule-returning-year-age-41-article-1.1346696?localLinksEnabled=false" target="_blank">Frank Isola of the New York Daily News</a> that there&#39;s a chance he could return.</li>
<li>Asked about <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/atlantic-rumors-sixers-sampson-howard-kidd.html" target="_blank">yesterday&#39;s report</a> that the <strong>Sixers</strong> had received permission to interview <strong>Rockets</strong> assistant <strong>Kelvin Sampson</strong>, GM <strong>Sam Hinkie</strong> replied, <em>&quot;I&#39;m not even there yet. I won&#39;t confirm or deny, but I will say I don&#39;t know where that came from&quot;</em> (via <a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sixers/20130517_Hinkie_knows_his_basketball.html" target="_blank">Bob Cooney of the Philadelphia Daily News</a>).</li>
<li>Citing word out of Toronto, Sam Amico of FOX Sports Ohio hears that this very well could be <strong>Bryan Colangelo</strong>&#39;s last week as the <strong>Raptors</strong>&#39; GM (<a href="https://twitter.com/SamAmicoFSO/status/335252197921136640" target="_blank">Twitter link</a>). The last real updates on the subject <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/latest-on-raptors-bryan-colangelo.html" target="_blank">came on Monday</a>, when reports were mixed on whether or not Colangelo would be back.</li>

<li>The <strong>Sixers</strong> have received permission to interview <strong>Rockets</strong> assistant <strong>Kelvin Sampson</strong>, according to <a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sixers/Sixers-get-permission-to-speak-with-Sampson.html" target="_blank">John N. Mitchell of the Philadelphia Inquirer</a>. Sampson had already been on Philadelphia&#39;s list of candidates before former Rockets assistant GM <strong>Sam Hinkie</strong> was hired by the Sixers, but it will be interesting to see whether or not the Houston connection makes Sampson a stronger candidate for the opening.</li>
<li>Mitchell adds in the same piece that Hinkie is believed to be eyeing <strong>Jazz</strong> assistant <strong><strong>Jeff Hornacek</strong></strong> as well.</li>
<li>Hinkie says he&#39;ll look at all options in building his team back up to contention, <a href="http://www.phillyburbs.com/sports/sixers/hinkie-will-consider-all-options-to-make-team-better/article_66181bad-ad30-598a-be8a-5b23207f723c.html" target="_blank">writes PhillyBurbs.com&#39;s Tom Moore</a>.</li>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>Greece&#39;s Olympiacos has won its second straight Euroleague title, and at least one of the club&#39;s players seems to be drawing trade interest from NBA teams. <a href="http://www.eurohoops.net/2013/05/dunks/25324" target="_blank">Rigas Dardalis of EuroHoops.net</a> writes that <strong>Kostas Papanikolaou</strong>, who received the Euroleague&#39;s Rising Star award, has received interest from the Spurs, Mavericks, and Knicks, among other teams.</p>
<p>Papanikolaou was selected by the Knicks 48th overall in the second round of the 2012 draft, but was sent to the Trail Blazers in the deal that brought <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/f/feltora01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Raymond Felton</a></strong> to New York. Although Portland currently holds Papanikolaou&#39;s rights, the small forward doesn&#39;t seem to be in the team&#39;s immediate plans, given the presence of <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/batumni01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Nicolas Batum</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/clavevi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Victor Claver</a></strong> on the roster, according to Dardalis.</p>
<p>The Blazers are expected to be involved in free agency this summer as the team looks to upgrade its bench, but with plenty of cap space and four draft picks, Portland should also have plenty of worthwhile assets at its disposal in addition to Papanikolaou&#39;s rights, if the club decides to explore the trade market.</p></div>
