<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>Echoing an <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/06/draft-rumors-cavs-celtics-ledo-pelle-zeller.html" target="_blank">overnight report</a> from Sam Amico of FOX Sports Ohio, <a href="http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft2013/story/_/id/9398251/2013-nba-draft-chad-ford-mock-draft-50" target="_blank">ESPN.com&#39;s Chad Ford</a> says in his latest mock draft that the <strong>Cavaliers</strong> remain undecided on their first overall pick. While the team appears likely to keep the pick, a number of players are still being considered, including <strong>Nerlens Noel</strong> and <strong>Alex Len</strong>. According to Ford, Noel remains the favorite because he fits the sort of high-upside profile the Cavs typically target, but there are some in the organization who prefer Len.</p>
<p>Here are several more highlights from version 5.0 of Ford&#39;s 2013 mock:</p>
<ul>
<li>Ford hears that <strong>Victor Oladipo</strong> has the upper hand over <strong>Ben McLemore</strong> for the <strong>Magic</strong> at No. 2, though the team would strongly consider Noel if the <strong>Cavs</strong> passed on him.</li>
<li>The <strong>Bobcats</strong> will likely be deciding between <strong>Anthony Bennett</strong> and Len at No. 4, if both players are available, but <strong>Cody Zeller</strong> could be a dark horse, says Ford.</li>
<li>Teams are worried about McLemore after a series of unimpressive workouts, and it&#39;s possible he slips past the <strong>Suns</strong> at No. 5, according to Ford.</li>
<li>The <strong>Timberwolves</strong> appear to have narrowed down their choice at No. 9 to <strong>Kentavious Caldwell-Pope</strong> and <strong>Shabazz Muhammad</strong>.</li>
<li>The <strong>Sixers</strong> figure to target size at No. 11, with Zeller, <strong>Mason Plumlee</strong>, and <strong>Lucas Nogueira</strong> among the possibilities.</li>
<li>Assuming the <strong>Mavericks</strong> don&#39;t trade the 13th pick, though it&#39;s very likely they will, a player like <strong>Sergey Karasev</strong>, who could be stashed overseas for a year or two, is a strong possibility, says Ford.</li>
<li>Karasev also interests the <strong>Cavaliers</strong> at No. 19, though Cleveland likes <strong>Reggie Bullock</strong> as a potential consolation prize, according to Ford.</li>
<li>The <strong>Jazz</strong> appear to be a good bet to target a big man at No. 14 and a point guard at No. 21.</li>
<li>Ford continues to hear that the <strong>Knicks</strong> have a &quot;strong affinity&quot; for <strong>Tony Mitchell</strong>.</li>

We&#39;ll certainly have more for you a little later, but before we do so, let&#39;s delve into the upcoming draft, as we&#39;re less than two weeks away from the big night:</p>

<li>Maryland center&#0160;<strong>Alex Len</strong>&#0160;will be visiting the <strong>Cavaliers</strong>&#0160;next week, according to his agent,&#0160;<a href="http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2013/06/maryland_center_alex_len_will.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&amp;utm_medium=twitter" target="_blank">writes Mary Schmitt Boyer of the Cleveland Plain Dealer</a>. <div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>Earlier this afternoon, I <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/06/poll-who-will-be-drafted-first-overall.html" target="_blank">asked for your thoughts</a> on which prospect would be drafted first overall two weeks from tonight. While I provided five names in the poll, it appears I omitted one more viable option, as <a href="http://www.foxsportsohio.com/nba/cleveland-cavaliers/story/NBA-Draft-Report-Is-Len-rising-to-No-1?blockID=911609&amp;amp;feedID=3724" target="_blank">Sam Amico of FOX Sports Ohio</a> reports that <strong>Anthony Bennett</strong> is also under consideration for the <strong>Cavaliers</strong> at No. 1 overall. While several opposing GMs tell Amico that they don&#39;t believe Cleveland would draft Bennett (or <strong>Alex Len</strong>) first overall, the Cavs aren&#39;t tipping their hand, so plenty of options still remain in play. Here&#39;s more from Amico&#39;s latest collection of NBA news and notes:</p>
<ul>
<li>One source says that the Cavs have been working on &quot;something major,&quot; but no details were given due to the magnitude. While that may not reveal much, Amico relays from the same source that Cleveland has talked to one particular team several times about the number one pick, although discussions have only been exploratory at this point (<a href="https://twitter.com/SamAmicoFSO/status/345317323609096193" target="_blank">Twitter</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/SamAmicoFSO/status/345318041808142336" target="_blank">links</a>).&#0160;</li>
<li>Amico also&#0160;<a href="https://twitter.com/SamAmicoFSO/status/345321035131920385" target="_blank">tweets</a> that the Cavaliers are lukewarm at the idea of taking <strong>Victor Oladipo</strong> or Anthony Bennett with their first overall pick and are going back and forth between <strong>Nerlens Noel</strong> and <strong>Ben McLemore</strong>. &#0160;</li>
</ul>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Earlier updates:</span></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>The <strong>Sixers</strong> are high on <strong>Michael Carter-Williams</strong>, who they believe could contribute at both guard positions, according to Amico. With Carter-Williams drawing some interest from teams in the top 10, it remains to be seen whether he&#39;ll be available for the Sixers at No. 11.</li>
<li>While the <strong>Magic</strong> have explored trades involving the second overall pick, they&#39;re &quot;far from desperate&quot; to move it.</li>
<li>Depending on how their pursuit of <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/howardw01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Dwight  Howard</a></strong> goes, the <strong>Rockets</strong> may be interested in making a bid for trade candidate <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/grangda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Danny  Granger</a></strong>.</li>
<li>The <strong>Bucks</strong> and <strong>Bobcats</strong> have engaged in discussions involving Milwaukee&#39;s 15th overall pick, says Amico.</li>
<li>If <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/couside01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">DeMarcus Cousins</a></strong> was available at one point, he isn&#39;t any longer. New <strong>Kings</strong> coach <strong>Michael Malone</strong> is excited about working with the young big man.</li>

Wolfson&#39;s usual look at Minnesota sports is heavy on Timberwolves content this time around, so let&#39;s dive in and round up a few highlights....</p>
<ul>
<li>Team president <strong>Flip Saunders</strong> will head to Washington, D.C. to meet with <strong>Victor Oladipo</strong> tomorrow morning. Considering the Wolves draft at No. 9, and Oladipo isn&#39;t expected to make it past the top five, it appears his camp has some level of confidence that Minnesota could trade up.</li>
<li><strong>Gorgui Dieng</strong> and the T-Wolves are trying to figure out a workout time, but it doesn&#39;t look like <strong>Alex Len</strong> will visit with the team before the draft. Len is unlikely to be around by the time the Wolves pick anyway.</li>
<li>Re-signing <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/pekovni01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Nikola Pekovic</a></strong> remains a high priority for the T-Wolves, though it&#39;s still not clear if the club will be willing to pay $12MM+ annually to retain him.</li>
<li>Minnesota is one of a few NBA teams talking to the D-League&#39;s Iowa Energy about a possible one-to-one affiliation. This past season, the Energy served as the D-League affiliate for the Bulls, Nuggets, Pelicans, and Wizards. The Wolves lost their own affiliate when the Sioux Falls SkyForce <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/06/heat-enter-single-affiliation-partnership-with-d-leagues-skyforce.html" target="_blank">entered into</a> a single affiliation partnership with the Heat.</li>
<li>While Wolfson wonders if a reunion between the Wolves and <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/garneke01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Kevin Garnett</a></strong> would be possible if the Celtics enter rebuilding mode, a source close to KG shoots down the idea, telling Wolfson it would &quot;never happen.&quot;</li>
<li>Although the Wolves&#39; director of player personnel, <strong>R.J. Adelman</strong>, is expected to remain with the organization, it&#39;s possible he could join <strong>Sam Hinkie</strong>&#39;s front office with the Sixers.</li>

Noel is unable to work out for teams while he recovers from his ACL injury, but he&#39;ll meet with the <strong>Wizards</strong>, who have the third overall pick, says Lee. Here are a few more notes out of the Eastern Conference:</p>
<ul>
<li><a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sixers/20130611_Denver_assistant_Melvin_Hunt_interests_the_Sixers.html" target="_blank">John N. Mitchell of the Philadelphia Inquirer</a> echoes a similar report from <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/06/david-fizdale-melvin-hunt-on-sixers-radar.html" target="_blank">ESPN.com&#39;s Marc Stein</a>, writing that the <strong>Sixers</strong> have interest in <strong>Nuggets</strong> assistant <strong>Melvin Hunt</strong> for their head coaching opening. <li><strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/millemi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Mike Miller</a></strong> <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/06/odds-ends-team-usa-wolves-rivers-bulls.html" target="_blank">talked this week</a> about wanting to play a few more seasons in the NBA, but it remains to be seen if he&#39;ll remain with the <strong>Heat</strong> for the duration of his current contract. In his latest mailbag, <a href="http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miami-heat/heat-blog/sfl-miami-heat-mike-miller-s061113,0,7521672.story" target="_blank">Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel</a> discusses the possibility of Miami amnestying Miller.</li>
<li>Now that the Sioux Falls Skyforce have <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/06/heat-enter-single-affiliation-partnership-with-d-leagues-skyforce.html" target="_blank">entered a one-to-one affiliation</a> with the <strong>Heat</strong>, the <strong>Magic</strong> will need a new D-League affiliate, as <a href="http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/blogs/magic-basketblog/os-mbb-orlando-magic-d-league-affiliate-20130610,0,1381299.post" target="_blank">Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel</a> explains.</li>

<p>One Houston-based source said president <strong>Sam Hinkie</strong> &quot;will probably find a coach after the draft.&quot; The source also said that Hinkie believes that the coach &quot;is secondary in the process because [Hinkie] will have an idea of what type of players&quot; the Sixers will need to take in the draft.</p>
<p>The source added Hinkie would probably not be interested in hiring the recently fired <strong>George Karl</strong>. &#0160;Even though Karl, 62, is a great coach, the source belives that the club is seeking someone younger to fit a younger team.</p>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p><strong>Maurice Cheeks</strong> is <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/06/cheeks-a-frontrunner-for-pistons-coaching-search.html" target="_blank">said to be the frontrunner</a> for the Pistons&#39; head coaching job, and the openings with the Clippers, Nets, and Nuggets appear to be turning into a game of musical chairs featuring <strong>Brian Shaw</strong>, <strong>Lionel Hollins</strong>, <strong>George Karl</strong>, and others. Since <strong>Sam Hinkie</strong> was hired in Philadelphia though, we haven&#39;t heard a whole lot about the Sixers&#39; head coaching targets.</p>
<p>According to ESPN.com&#39;s Marc Stein (<a href="https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine/status/343028113170644994" target="_blank">via Twitter</a>), a pair of assistant coaches are on the 76ers&#39; radar: <strong>David Fizdale</strong> of the Heat and <strong>Melvin Hunt</strong> of the Nuggets. Fizdale had been <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/latest-on-pistons-coaching-search.html" target="_blank">mentioned as a candidate</a> for Detroit earlier in the Pistons&#39; process, and actually was <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/coaching-rumors-bucks-pistons-bobcats-76ers.html" target="_blank">said to be</a> on the Sixers&#39; list before Hinkie was hired as well. <p>Besides Fizdale and Hunt, Rockets assistants <strong>Kelvin Sampson</strong> and <strong>Chris Finch</strong> have <a href="http://articles.philly.com/2013-06-05/sports/39743528_1_twitter-jmitchinquirer-sixers-assistant-coach-michael-curry" target="_blank">also been cited</a> as possible candidates for the Sixers&#39; job, while Ronald Tillery of the Memphis Commercial Appeal <a href="https://twitter.com/CAGrizBlog/status/342347777554141185" target="_blank">tweeted</a> earlier this week that Philadelphia appears to have interest in Grizzlies assistant <strong>Dave Joerger</strong>.<a href="http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-triangle/post/_/id/64692/a-brief-history-of-george-why-karl-is-out-in-denver-and-where-he-may-be-headed" target="_blank"></a></p>

<p><strong>10:11am:</strong> 2012/13&#39;s NBA Coach of the Year will not return to his team&#39;s bench next season, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports. Wojnarowski reports that the Nuggets have parted ways with <strong>George Karl</strong>, informing him this morning that he won&#39;t be retained for the final year of his contract (<a href="https://twitter.com/WojYahooNBA/status/342659045926268928" target="_blank">Twitter</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/WojYahooNBA/status/342659335119331328" target="_blank">links</a>).</p>
<p><a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/clippers-targeting-george-karl-.html" target="_blank">Wojnarowski</a> and <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/06/george-karls-job-status-in-jeopardy.html" target="_blank">Ramona Shelburne of ESPNLosAngeles.com</a> had both reported within the last week that Karl&#39;s status in Denver was unsettled, since the team didn&#39;t seem inclined to pick up his 2014/15 option, which would have left him on an expiring deal next season. According to Wojnarowski (<a href="https://twitter.com/WojYahooNBA/status/342659634567458816" target="_blank">via Twitter</a>), Karl had been pushing for a contract extension, and team ownership wasn&#39;t prepared to give him one.</p>
<p>The move is the latest in an incredibly busy offseason for head coaching
 turnover. 11 NBA teams have now parted ways with the head coach with
whom they finished the season, and there could be more changes on the
way, including <strong>Lionel Hollins</strong> in Memphis. Karl had been the <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/06/longest-tenured-coaches-in-the-nba.html" target="_blank">third-longest-tenured coach</a> in the NBA, behind only <strong>Gregg Popovich</strong> and <strong>Doc Rivers</strong>.</p>
<p>With Karl out of the picture and <strong>Masai Ujiri</strong> now running the Raptors, the Nuggets will be in the market for both a new coach and general manager in the coming weeks. Wojnarowski <a href="https://twitter.com/WojYahooNBA/status/342661650190565376" target="_blank">tweets</a> that the Nuggets believe they can attract an elite coach, given their roster, and that they preferred to take that chance rather than moving forward with an unhappy Karl.</p>
<p>As for Karl, Chris Mannix of SI.com rightly points out (<a href="https://twitter.com/ChrisMannixSI/status/342660849850281984" target="_blank">via Twitter</a>) that his presence on the market figures to change the thinking of some teams still searching for a new head coach. Based on the fact that he had been seeking an extension with the Nuggets, it appears Karl still wants to keep coaching. We&#39;ve already heard his name <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/clippers-targeting-george-karl-.html" target="_blank">linked to</a> the Clippers&#39; search and Grantland&#39;s Zach Lowe (<a href="https://twitter.com/ZachLowe_NBA/status/342660994394374144" target="_blank">Twitter link</a>) wouldn&#39;t be surprised if the Sixers called him as well. ESPN.com&#39;s Marc Stein reports (<a href="https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine/status/342668821846425602" target="_blank">via Twitter</a>) that the Grizzlies also intend to reach out to Karl.</p>
<p>Still, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer cautions (<a href="https://twitter.com/rick_bonnell/status/342661174418108416" target="_blank">via Twitter</a>) not to rule out the possibility of Karl sitting out the season or coaching overseas, given how much he enjoyed his previous experience in Europe. Personally, I&#39;d think the former is more likely than the latter.</p></div>

While we wait to see if they&#39;re right, here&#39;s more from around the NBA:</p>
<ul>
<li>The <strong>Grizzlies</strong> rebuffed the<strong> Nets</strong> when they asked for permission to interview <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/hollili01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Lionel Hollins</a></strong> the day after the Western Conference Finals ended, but Memphis would likely grant that permission now if Brooklyn inquired again, TNT&#39;s David Aldridge hears (<a href="https://twitter.com/daldridgetnt/status/342430941823791104" target="_blank">Twitter link</a>).</li>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>As I noted yesterday when examining the <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/06/longest-tenured-coaches-in-the-nba.html" target="_blank">longest-tenured coaches in the NBA</a>, four teams - the <strong>Pistons</strong>, <strong>76ers</strong>, <strong>Nets</strong>, and <strong>Clippers</strong> - are still in the market for a new head coach, while a couple other positions could open up later in the offseason. In addition to those head coaching openings, plenty of assistants are being hired, or moving from one NBA team to another. Here are today&#39;s rumors on those head coaching searches and the assistant coaching carousel:</p>
<ul>
<li>Although the <strong>Clippers</strong> have asked and received permission to speak to <strong>Lionel Hollins</strong>, the <strong>Nets</strong>&#39; initial request to speak to Hollins was turned down, according to Ronald Tillery of the Memphis Commercial Appeal (<a href="https://twitter.com/CAGrizBlog/status/342346018219773952" target="_blank">Twitter</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/CAGrizBlog/status/342346205361217536" target="_blank">links</a>). Tillery adds that Brooklyn has yet to make another request since being denied on the day after the <strong>Grizzlies</strong>&#39; season ended.</li>
<li>No teams have requested permission yet to speak to <strong>Grizzlies</strong> assistant <strong>Dave Joerger</strong>, but the Sixers are believed to have interest, <a href="https://twitter.com/CAGrizBlog/status/342347777554141185" target="_blank">tweets Tillery</a>.</li>
<li>A report yesterday <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/06/nets-sixers-have-contacted-larry-brown.html" target="_blank">indicated</a> that the <strong>Nets</strong> and <strong>Sixers</strong> were among the teams that have contacted <strong>Larry Brown</strong> about their head coaching openings. Brown threw cold water on that report today though, according to <a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/deep-sixer/Larry-Brown-on-coaching-Sixers-hypothetical.html" target="_blank">John N. Mitchell of the Philadelphia Inquirer</a>, saying he&#39;s happy at SMU. <a href="http://www.csnphilly.com/basketball-philadelphia-sixers/source-sixers-contacted-brown-who-wants-run-team" target="_blank">CSNPhilly.com</a>, meanwhile, reports that Brown would likely have interest in returning to the NBA if it meant running a franchise. I&#39;d be surprised if anything came of this.</li>
</ul>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Earlier updates:</strong></span></p>
<ul>
<li>Less than 24 hours after ESPN.com&#39;s Marc Stein and Chris Broussard <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/06/nets-seriously-considering-brian-shaw.html" target="_blank">reported</a> that <strong>Brian Shaw</strong> was a &quot;serious target&quot; for the <strong>Nets</strong>, <a href="http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/story/_/id/9343666/brian-shaw-indiana-pacers-los-angeles-clippers-no-1-choice-coach" target="_blank">Ramona Shelburne of ESPNLosAngeles.com</a> reports that Shaw also appears to be the <strong>Clippers</strong>&#39; top choice at this point. Since no official interviews have been conducted yet, the situation remains fluid, but the Clippers are intrigued by Shaw&#39;s youth, championship experience, and developmental skills, according to Shelburne.</li>
<li>Talks between <strong>Jeff Van Gundy</strong> and the <strong>Clippers</strong> have cooled, and the team has yet to ask permission to speak to <strong>Nuggets</strong> coach <strong>George Karl</strong>, though he remains a possible target. <strong>Lionel Hollins</strong>, <strong>Byron Scott</strong>, and <strong>Alvin Gentry</strong> also remain under consideration for Los Angeles, says Shelburne.</li>
<li><a href="http://www.latimes.com/sports/sportsnow/la-sp-sn-clippers-brian-shaw-20130604,0,7499978.story" target="_blank">Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times</a> provides the same list of contenders for the <strong>Clippers</strong>&#39; job, though he&#39;s even more bearish on the likelihood of the team hiring Van Gundy, writing that he&#39;s essentially &quot;out of the running.&quot; Shaw, meanwhile is gaining momentum for the position, according to Turner.</li>
<li>Although the <strong>Pistons</strong>&#39; search appears to have been narrowed down to <strong>Nate McMillan</strong> and <strong>Maurice Cheeks</strong>, there&#39;s no guarantee a decision happens this week, sources tell <a href="http://www.mlive.com/pistons/index.ssf/2013/06/detroit_pistons_coaching_profi.html" target="_blank">David Mayo of MLive.com</a>.</li>
<li>Following up on a report from <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/knicks-great-ewing-join-charlotte-staff-article-1.1357180?localLinksEnabled=false" target="_blank">Frank Isola of the New York Daily News</a> last week which suggested <strong>Patrick Ewing</strong> could be hired as an assistant in Charlotte, <a href="http://www.csnnw.com/article/ewing-meet-bobcats-possibly-kings-lead-assistant-position" target="_blank">Chris Haynes of CSNNW.com</a> says Ewing is interviewing for the <strong>Bobcats</strong>&#39; lead assistant job today. The former Knicks big man has also received interest from the <strong>Kings</strong>, writes Haynes.</li>
<li>Newly-hired <strong>Kings</strong> head coach <strong>Michael Malone</strong> is also talking to Ohio State assistant <strong>Chris Jent</strong> about joining his staff in Sacramento, <a href="https://twitter.com/WojYahooNBA/status/342140259263471617" target="_blank">tweets</a> Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.</li>
<li>Yet another <strong>Lakers</strong> assistant coach appears to be on his way out of L.A., as <strong>Darvin Ham</strong> will talk to the <strong>Bobcats</strong> and <strong>Hawks</strong> about a spot on their respective staffs, according to <a href="http://www.dailynews.com/lakers/ci_23390557/lakers-assistant-coach-darvin-ham-will-talk-atlanta" target="_blank">Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News</a>.</li>

<content type="xhtml" xml:lang="en-US" xml:base="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/">
<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>With two teams still standing in the 2013 NBA playoffs, most of the Association&#39;s franchises have turned their attention to this month&#39;s draft. We&#39;re probably still a week or two away from seeing any draft picks change hands via trades, but prospects continue to jockey for draft position, working out for teams, or perhaps pulling out of workouts in the case of at least one international prospect. Here are Wednesday&#39;s latest draft-related items:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Sergey Karasev</strong> has returned to Moscow and plans to remain in Russia until the draft, fueling speculation that he has been given a first-round promise, writes <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--sergey-karasev-will-stay-in-russia-until-nba-draft-051750941.html" target="_blank">Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports</a>. With agents Andy Miller and Justin Zanik telling teams their client won&#39;t be available for predraft workouts, Wojnarowski think Karasev probably received a guarantee from a team between Nos. 14 and 24.</li>
<li>Appearing on the <a href="http://www.heinnews.com/basketball/nba/taking-the-charge-podcast-episode-38-croatia-star-dario-saric-spurs-beat-writer-matthew-tynan-of-48minutesofhell-com/" target="_blank">Taking the Charge podcast</a>, Croatian forward <strong>Dario Saric</strong> said he still may withdraw his name from this year&#39;s draft, though he expects to be selected in the first round. If he stays in the draft and is selected, he still plans to play in Europe for at least one more year, <a href="http://www.heinnews.com/basketball/nba/saric-may-pull-name-out-of-nba-draft-will-definitely-stay-in-europe-if-selected/" target="_blank">according to HeinNews.com</a>.</li>
<li>The <strong>Suns</strong> have yet to confirm the participants of today&#39;s workouts, but it appears they&#39;ve brought in a star-studded group that includes <strong>Ben McLemore</strong>, <strong>Victor Oladipo</strong>, <strong>Cody Zeller</strong>, <strong>Rudy Gobert</strong>, and <strong>Shabazz Muhammad</strong>, as <a href="http://www.azcentral.com/insiders/paulcoro/2013/06/05/now-this-is-a-suns-draft-workout/" target="_blank">Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic</a> outlines.</li>
<li>It&#39;s unclear where Muhammad will land in the draft, since his stock seems to be on the decline, says <a href="http://www.latimes.com/sports/sportsnow/la-sp-sn-nba-draft-shabazz-muhammad-20130604,0,656496.story" target="_blank">Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times</a>.</li>
<li><strong>Peyton Silva</strong>, <strong>Archie Goodwin</strong>, and <strong>Scootie Randall</strong> worked out for the <strong>Sixers</strong> on Tuesday, according to <a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sixers/20130605_Sixers_work_out_Randall__Siva__Goodwin.html" target="_blank">John N. Mitchell of the Philadelphia Inquirer</a>. None of those prospects are likely to land in the lottery, so Philadelphia appears to be weighing its second-round options.</li>
<li>Working out for the <strong>Jazz</strong> today, according to <a href="http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865581159/Utah-Jazz-Shane-Larkin-among-projected-first-rounders-at-Jazzs-pre-draft-workout-Wednesday.html" target="_blank">Jody Genessy of the Deseret News</a>: <strong>Shane Larkin</strong>, <strong>Tony Mitchell</strong>, <strong>Reggie Bullock</strong>, <strong>Lorenzo Brown</strong>, <strong>Amath M&#39;Baye</strong>, and <strong>Malik Story</strong>.</li>
<li>The <strong>Bucks</strong> officially announced (<a href="https://twitter.com/BucksPR/status/342277124205457408" target="_blank">via Twitter</a>) that they&#39;ll be working out the following prospects today: <strong>Trent Lockett</strong>, <strong>D.J. Stephens</strong>, <strong>Dewayne Dedmon</strong>, <strong>Jack Cooley</strong>, <strong>Korie Lucious</strong>, and <strong>D.J. Seeley</strong>.</li>
<li><a href="http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/celtics/post/_/id/4705394/add-plumlee-to-first-round-watchlist" target="_blank">Chris Forsberg of ESPNBoston.com</a> and <a href="http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/celtics/2013/06/04/northeastern-guard-jonathan-lee-works-out-again-for-celtics/StZ0x9xDLqfk3ly0zMJ6kJ/story.html" target="_blank">Baxter Holmes of the Boston Globe</a> have the details on yesterday&#39;s Celtics workout, which included <strong>Mason Plumlee</strong>, <strong>Reggie  Johnson</strong>, <strong>Ian Clark</strong>, and <strong>Jonathan Lee</strong>. It was the second workout with the C&#39;s for Lee.</li>

<li>With <strong>Masai Ujiri</strong> <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/06/eastern-notes-raptors-bucks-pacers-hawks.html" target="_blank">introduced in Toronto</a> this morning, Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun <a href="http://www.torontosun.com/2013/06/04/new-raptors-gm-masai-ujiri-clearly-the-boss" target="_blank">reports that the one thing</a> made clear was that Ujiri is the main man in charge of basketball decisions for the <strong>Raptors</strong> right now.&#0160;&#0160;</li>
<li>Meanwhile, Mike Ganter, also from the Sun, <a href="http://www.torontosun.com/2013/06/04/hiring-masai-ujiri-as-raptors-gm-sign-mlse-means-business" target="_blank">writes that</a> landing the NBA&#39;s Executive of the Year is a coup for the <strong>Raptors</strong>, and a sign that their ownership group is intent on shedding their mediocre label.&#0160; </li>
<li>Ian Begley of ESPN New York <a href="http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/knicks/post/_/id/45426/implications-of-j-r-s-free-agency" target="_blank">provides a primer</a> to the free agency of <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/smithjr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">J.R. Smith</a></strong>, who <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/06/jr-smith-to-decline-option-likely-to-re-sign.html" target="_blank">earlier today</a> we heard will decline his player option with the <strong>Knicks</strong>, but will likely re-sign with the team.&#0160; Begley points out that Smith will have plenty of suitors, and spells out the ramifications of whether or not Smith re-ups in New York.&#0160;&#0160;</li>
<li>The <strong>Sixers</strong> will work out Kentucky&#39;s <strong>Archie Goodwin</strong>, Louisville&#39;s <strong>Peyton Siva</strong> and Temple&#39;s <strong>Scootie Randall</strong>, <a href="http://www.csnphilly.com/basketball-philadelphia-sixers/report-sixers-work-out-goodwin-siva-randall?utm_source=t.co&amp;utm_medium=referral" target="_blank">writes Nick Menta</a> of CSN Philly.&#0160; Since the Sixers pick No. 11, they could only be looking at this trio via trade in the first or with one of their two second round selections (No. 35 and No. 42).</li>

Brown has coached all four franchises.</p>
<p><em>“If one of those teams offered him I think he would [take it] but I don’t think they’re going to offer him,”</em> the source said.&#0160; Brown has been constantly linked to the Nets and has a good relationship with general manager <strong>Billy King</strong> from their days in Philly, but their top choice seems to be <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/shawbr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Brian Shaw</a></strong>.&#0160; Meanwhile, the Sixers hire of GM <strong>Sam Hinkie</strong> <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/sixers-rumors-turner-brown-hinkie.html" target="_blank">was supposed to eliminate any chances</a> of Brown&#39;s return to Philly, so the source close to Brown is probably right that his return to the NBA is a long shot.&#0160; </p></div>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>ESPN.com&#39;s Chad Ford has released <a href="http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft2013/story/_/id/9340518/2013-nba-draft-chad-ford-mock-draft-40" target="_blank">version 4.0 of his 2013 mock draft</a> (Insider-only link), and as usual, the piece is chock-full of rumors and rumblings he&#39;s heard from GMs, scouts, and other league sources. Let&#39;s dive in and round up some of the highlights from Ford&#39;s latest....</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Nerlens Noel</strong> remains the default pick at No. 1, but the <strong>Cavaliers</strong> still haven&#39;t made a decision. <strong>Otto Porter</strong> and <strong>Alex Len</strong> would be the best bets to supplant Noel.</li>
<li>The <strong>Magic</strong>&#39;s decision at No. 2 is still extremely wide open, with nine players still under consideration, according to Ford.</li>
<li>If Porter and <strong>Anthony Bennett</strong> are still on the board at No. 3 for Washington, it will be a tough decision, since the <strong>Wizards</strong>&#39; front office is split over which player it likes better.</li>
<li>The <strong>Pelicans</strong> will consider point guards with the sixth overall pick, but the team hasn&#39;t given up on <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/riverau01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Austin Rivers</a></strong> as its point guard of the future, so it may go in a different direction.</li>
<li>Ford is &quot;hearing with increasing frequency&quot; that the <strong>Pistons</strong> could target a point guard with the No. 8 pick.</li>
<li><strong>Dario Saric</strong> appears to be a lottery pick, with Ford identifying the <strong>Blazers</strong> at 10 and the <strong>Sixers</strong> at 11 as real possibilities for the Croatian prospect, who is a &quot;hot name&quot; right now.</li>
<li><strong>Shane Larkin</strong>&#39;s workout in Milwaukee was a &quot;wow&quot; for the <strong>Bucks</strong>, according to Ford, who has the point guard going at No. 15 to Milwaukee.</li>
</ul>
<p>In addition to Ford&#39;s latest mock, there are plenty of other draft updates to pass along this afternoon. Here are a few of them:</p>
<ul>
<li>Speaking to <a href="http://journaltimes.com/sports/basketball/bucks-beat-schr-der-has-eyes-on-first-round/article_2793aa84-ccd3-11e2-af77-001a4bcf887a.html" target="_blank">Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times</a>, <strong>Dennis Schroeder</strong> and his agent downplayed reports that he has received a first-round guarantee from an unknown team, <a href="http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/05/celtics-rumors-schroeder-kg-millsap-rivers.html" target="_blank">perhaps the Celtics</a>. <em>&quot;I don’t know where that came from,&quot;</em> agent Alex Saratsis said. <em>&quot;I don’t know anything about that.&quot;</em></li>
<li>The <strong>Knicks</strong>&#39; workout on Wednesday will feature the following prospects, according to Al Iannazzone of Newsday (<a href="https://twitter.com/Al_Iannazzone/status/341949585729675265" target="_blank">via Twitter</a>): <strong>Isaiah Canaan</strong>, <strong>Brandon Triche</strong>, <strong>Deshaun Thomas</strong>, <strong>Murphy Holloway</strong>, <strong>A.J. Matthews</strong>, and <strong>Norvel Pelle</strong>.</li>
<li>The <strong>Pistons</strong> will bring in <strong>Ray McCallum</strong> for a workout, <a href="https://twitter.com/Vincent_Ellis56/status/341895701116108800" target="_blank">tweets</a> Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press.</li>
<li>After recently working out for the <strong>Jazz</strong>, <strong>Cody Zeller</strong> will work out for the <strong>Suns</strong> next, <a href="https://twitter.com/SamAmicoFSO/status/341930217356533761" target="_blank">tweets</a> Sam Amico of FOX Sports Ohio. Amico adds in <a href="https://twitter.com/SamAmicoFSO/status/341930046321225729" target="_blank">another tweet</a> that <strong>Mark Lyons</strong>, who averaged 24.3 PPG in three NCAA tournament contests in March, is working out for the <strong>Nuggets</strong>.</li>
<li><strong>Ricky Ledo</strong> has already worked out for six teams, including the <strong>Nuggets</strong>, <strong>Bulls</strong>, <strong>Rockets</strong>, and <strong>Spurs</strong> (<a href="http://www.nba.com/2013/news/06/04/ledo-draft-sixth-team.ap/index.html" target="_blank">link via NBA.com</a>).</li>
<li>Ledo will work out for his seventh team on Wednesday, when the <strong>Grizzlies</strong> hold a session that will also include<strong> <em>
</em>Jud Dillard</strong>, <strong>Carrick Felix</strong>, <strong>Solomon Hill</strong>, <strong>Angelo Sharpless</strong>, and <strong>Tony Snell</strong>, according to a team release.</li>

There are plenty of other news items and rumors floating around the web this morning, relating to the Knicks and their Atlantic rivals, so let&#39;s round up the latest out of the division:</p>
<ul>
<li>After announcing his retirement yesterday, <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/k/kiddja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Jason Kidd</a></strong> told ESPN Radio (link via <a href="http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/pg_leaves_solid_knicks_core_RoDqX0YxfvpxL2AmQEhXwN" target="_blank">Marc Berman of the New York Post</a>) that he thinks the <strong>Knicks</strong> have a &quot;solid foundation,&quot; though the team may have to make a couple upgrades this summer.</li>
<li>According to both <a href="http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/more_sports/nets_savior_knicks_sage_calls_hall_TDEsh3l8BxInPEh53aLcON" target="_blank">Berman</a> and <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/04/sports/basketball/jason-kidd-announces-retirement-from-nba.html" target="_blank">Nate Taylor of the New York Times</a>, Kidd will forgo the final two years and $6.18MM remaining on his contract. Assuming that&#39;s true, it&#39;s a nice break for the <strong>Knicks</strong>, considering teams often agree to buyouts with retiring players. It likely won&#39;t give New York any additional cap flexibility, since the team is still in the tax, but at the very least it will reduce that tax bill.</li>
<li><a href="http://bostonherald.com/sports/celtics_nba/boston_celtics/2013/06/miami_s_shane_larkin_celtics_might_be_match_at_pg" target="_blank">Mark Murphy of the Boston Herald</a> explores whether <strong>Shane Larkin</strong> may be a fit for the <strong>Celtics</strong> at No. 16 in this month&#39;s draft.</li>
<li>Although <strong>Michael Malone</strong> was on the <strong>Sixers</strong>&#39; wish list back when <strong>Tony DiLeo</strong>, rather than <strong>Sam Hinkie</strong>, was running the team&#39;s coaching search, <a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sixers/20130604_Sixers_coaching_pool_shrinks__Kings_hire_Mike_Malone.html" target="_blank">John N. Mitchell of the Philadelphia Inquirer</a> points out the Kings&#39; hiring of Malone further diminishes Philadelphia&#39;s pool of head coach targets.</li>
<li>Over at Philly.com, <a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sixers/SBNation_20130603_Josh_Smith_Rumors__Sixers_Interested__For_Real_.html" target="_blank">Michael Levien of SBNation.com</a> is skeptical of a rumor linking the <strong>Sixers</strong> to free-agent-to-be <strong><a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/smithjo03.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com" target="_blank">Josh  Smith</a></strong>, writing that he&#39;s &quot;very confident&quot; Philadelphia won&#39;t be the team that gives the forward a big-money, long-term contract.</li>
