Shan Foster Rumors

Odom To Clips, Williams To Jazz In 4-Team Deal

June 29 at 7:44pm CST By Chuck Myron

The four-team deal between the Jazz, Mavericks, Clippers and Rockets that sends Lamar Odom to the Clippers and Mo Williams to Utah has been finalized, according to a release by the Mavs.

The Mavericks will send Odom to the Clippers and the draft rights to Shan Foster, taken in the second round in 2008, to the Jazz.  The Jazz send the draft rights to Tadija Dragicevic, also a second-rounder from 2008, to the Mavericks. The Clippers send Mo Williams to the Jazz and Furkan Aldemir, the 53rd overall pick in last night's draft, to the Rockets. The Rockets send cash to the Mavericks. The Mavs will also inherit the trade exception the Jazz gained when they traded Mehmet Okur to the Nets in December, valued at $8.9MM.

The deal brings an end to a turbulent year for Odom in Dallas, which acquired the former Sixth Man of the Year from the Lakers before the season began. Odom and the Mavs parted ways in April, when the the power forward was in the midst of his worst season, putting up career lows in points (6.6) and rebounds (4.2) per game as well as PER (9.2). The Mavs sent him away from the team but kept him on the roster in the hopes they could trade him rather than waive him and be on the hook for the $2.4MM guaranteed portion of his $8.2MM contract for next season.

Marc Stein of ESPN.com initially reported interest in a deal between the Clippers and Mavs, and Stein and ESPN colleague Chad Ford added that the Jazz were involved in the discussions as well. Eddie Sefko of The Dallas Morning News first broke the news of an agreement between the Clippers, Mavs and Jazz. Brian T. Smith of The Salt Lake Tribune had word that Mo Williams agreed to pick up his $8.5MM option for next season, clearing the way for the deal. Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times reported the Rockets' involvement.

Odds & Ends: Shaw, Bower, Claver

June 14 at 10:21pm CST By Ryan Raroque

A handful of tonight's coaching search updates came in the form of tweets. TNT's David Aldridge reported that Brian Shaw had an interview in Charlotte today, but was not offered the job. Yahoo's Marc Spears also confirmed that no offer was made, adding that Portland and Orlando are still on Shaw's radar. Sam Amick of Sports Illustrated, who broke the news about Sloan's withdrawal from Charlotte's head coaching race, thinks the Trail Blazers have a better chance of landing Shaw than the Magic do.

We've got more on Orlando's GM search and highlights from HoopsWorld chats with Mark Nugent and Tommy Beer...

  • Ken Berger of CBS Sports tweeted that Jeff Bower will meet with the DeVos family and that the Magic are expected to hire a new GM next week.
  • Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio mentions that the Trail Blazers are expected to add Victor Claver to the team next season. Claver was the team's 22nd overall selection from the 2009 NBA Draft.
  • Jason Quick of The Oregonian dissects the current mindset of Portland GM Neil Olshey, who already acknowledges the pressure of a fan base that is eagerly looking for answers.
  • Mark Nugent of HoopsWorld had his weekly chat with fans tonight. Nugent thinks that the Pacers will match any offer sheet for Roy Hibbert, Tyreke Evans is safe in Sacramento, and commented on hypothetical trade scenarios. Tommy Beer of HoopsWorld also exchanged thoughts with fans in a chat of his own, most notably saying that Ray Allen will most likely leave Boston and seek a $5 MM per year deal, a $7 MM per year offer sounds reasonable for Kevin Garnett, offered a few trade scenarios for Amare Stoudemire, and entertained the fans' trade ideas. Also, in case you missed it earlier, be sure to check out this afternoon's chat with our very own Luke Adams.
  • Mark Deeks of Sham Sports reported (via Twitter) that the Mavericks have renounced their rights to Shan Foster
