You make a great point about that roster spot. Haywood’s a major trade asset, indeed (I wrote about that a while back here: link to hoopsrumors.com…, but they couldn’t combine Haywood with that trade exception. Whoever they acquire with that exception has to have a salary that’s no more than $100K greater than what Bogans is making this season.
Thanks for the clarification re: combining players with a TPE. Could they absorb a player with a non-guaranteed deal (like Haywood) using that exception and then combine those two players to acquire a single player with a higher salary?
Just seeing this now, Adam, but to answer your question, yes, they could use the exception to acquire another non-guaranteed deal and then package that deal together with Haywood in a trade. Easier said than done, of course, but it’s possible.
