With this year’s trade deadline just three weeks away, Nuggets forward Wilson Chandler is hoping to be moved before the deadline, two sources with knowledge of the situation tell Sam Amick of USA Today. According to Amick, Chandler has grown frustrated with his inconsistent role in Denver.
Chandler, 29, is having perhaps his best year as a pro, averaging a career-high 15.4 PPG and 6.8 RPG in 44 games for the Nuggets. The former DePaul standout is also averaging slightly over 30 minutes per game on the season, but his playing time has been somewhat up and down, and he hasn’t been in Denver’s starting lineup since January 12.
Although Chandler is not believed to have formally requested a trade, the Nuggets are aware of his concerns and will explore the trade market for the veteran leading up to the February 23 deadline, says Amick. Denver has no shortage of potential trade candidates, with Danilo Gallinari, Kenneth Faried, Jameer Nelson, Will Barton, Jusuf Nurkic, and Emmanuel Mudiay among the players whose names have been mentioned at least once or twice in trade rumors this season. But finding a taker for Chandler looks to be a priority.
Owed a salary of $11.233MM this season, Chandler is under contract for two additional years, though 2018/19 is a player option. He’s on the books for a guaranteed $12MM+ salary in ’17/18. That price tag may have looked substantial when Chandler first signed his contract, but based on the spending spree we saw last summer, it seems reasonable for a player of his caliber.

I’ve alwasy like wilson chandler as a player he is a great shooter and can slash to the basket if the spurs can somehow trade for him this would be a great trade!!! we might have to trade another player to make the salary work but i feel letting go kyle wont be a huge lost for the spurs…i know kyle has grown as a player but the spurs need to get more athletic if they want to keep up with other teams in the west…chandler will definitely boost up our bench
As for the nugget they get a good decent shooter and a floor general high basketball iQ baller in anderson he is slow but i feel kyle just needs more playing time and the nuggets can really use his ability better then the spurs will…
The Spurs don’t have a lot of minutes to give anyone at the F position. It would also put them in the Luxury tax. Not to mention the whole reason Chandler wants to leave is so he can start somewhere.
Thats why i said maybe put a package deal toether so they wont go over the luxury tax!!!! and for the starting position for chandler he wont mind coming off the bench if it mean having a chance to get to the finals..trust me i know he is only 29 but being coached by pop and playing along side kawhi and lamarcus you really want to pass that up??? Thier is alot of nba vet who never even been in a nba finals just ask tmac when he finally was in the finals with the spurs 2013 before he retire….i know theirs alot of teams in the west that has a shot but if you think about it?? who in the west have a better shot at the warriors??? Rockets ehh they wont take it to a game 7…clippers ehh they dont have a bench…okc ehh not a chance!!!! The spurs are the only real threat to the warriors real talk..

I agree that OKC doesn’t have a chance and the Clippers can’t even match up against the Warriors, but the Rockets can. And the Jazz are a sneaky team to watch out for as well. Also, the Grizzlies seem to be the Warriors best competition as they are consistently good against them.
Yea thats true the spurs have not been in the west finals for the past years but the warriors have not seen the spurs in the playoffs in awhile as well..in a 7 game series the spurs will out coach the warriors and not to mention the spurs bench is way better then the warriors.. i think when it comes down to it the spurs will out rebound and score down low because the warriors lack of big men and a defender down low. The spurs expose that in game 1 of the regular season facts…durant will get his and curry and clay but in the end the spurs will not even take it to a game 7 i say spurs in 5 cause if you dont remember the spurs play way better on the road then at home!!
Look I’m a huge Spurs supporter, but a Spurs-Warriors goes to 7 games. Pop is a better coach than Kerr, but Kerr is still an amazing coach and probably top 5 in the league. Spurs probably have a slightly deeper bench, but the Warriors can also afford to keep at least 2 of their big 4 out at a time. Durant and Klay, especially, have roasted bench units at the start of the 2nd and 4th quarters. Also, the Spurs don’t have the 3pt scoring to keep up with the Warriors’ shooting. Also, playing big probably won’t work against the Warriors because they can throw out a lineup of Curry-Klay-Iggy-Durant-Green, who will out shoot whoever the Spurs throw out. Pau is terrible defensively so the team is going to suffer if he’s out there for long stretches of time. Game 1 of the regular season means squat. And for as good as the Spurs play on the road, the Warriors play just as good at home.
I hear you on the warriors being a great shooting team..but what u need to know and any true spurs fan should know is… the spurs know how to close out on three point shooters better then any other team..they are discipline when it comes close out and you said the spurs doesn’t have three point scorers? well you need to watch more spurs game!!!Becasue we have alot of them pop has never been a fan of the three point game bit he has use his players to their ability mills,green,simmons,bertans,ginobli,kawhi, and gasol can all shoot high percentage threes and having bigs down do make a deference cause it makes it that more difficult if your having a bad shooting night as you saw in game 1 of the regular season…and that game shows how much the warriors miss guys like bogut and Speights…you can disagree but the spurs are a little better then the warriors right now the spurs are 1 trade away of becoming a complete team maybe another bench star maybe a guy like jeff green or jamal crawford…
You don’t know how to manage a roster if you think they can just come up with a package that works. There’s no combo of spurs players to match wilson’s 11mil salary. Anderson is 1mil. And you’re high if you think every player values a bench role(especially during their best season and ESPECIALLY when minutes and a bigger roll is his gripe) and a ring over bring the guy and improving chances of a big deal in a couple years, which is his last chance at another big deal. There’s not a lot of 29 year old ring hunters.
I doubt they are considering it. All they said was his name was mentioned in a rumor. That rarely means much. Send Chandler to the Nets, let that dude cut loose.

That’s actually not a bad idea. Although one of LeBron/Gallinari/Chandler would basically be playing all their minutes at the 4 (probably LeBron or Chandler).
I remember rumors of clippers and nuggets possible trades for Blake griffin, Blake is crazy good but I still would have traded him for chandler, galinari, and 2 first rounders, and who knows back then nuggets might have thrown in jokic before they knew he was really good. I’d love to see chandler on the clippers filling that small forward spot and playing big games in playoffs and helping them against warriors, the problem is reddick though, he can’t do anything against the Warriors switching defense or anything against someone with length guarding him, and he can’t finish driving to the basket so if he isn’t getting open and shooting it well he is a big hole. He looks so small and un athletic against the teams they need to beat. Of course he usually hits shots and plays well, gets attention of defense, but I would trade him and Wes Johnson for chandler in a heartbeat. I’ve always though chandler would be perfect for that sf spot on clippers. I want warriors clippers 7 game series in playoffs. Clippers usually play them tougher than anyone except for the last couple times. How did I make this about the clippers?! Galinari is one of most underrated players too, I’d love to see him play meaningful playoff games, he is 6’11” can shoot, drive, finish, get to the line, and he is a surprisingly good defender.
I could see Denver having pieces for a potential Butler deal, if he does in fact get moved.

That’s a lot to give up but a core of Butler and Jokic is very appealing

That means whichever PG that stays, Gary Harris, Butler, Gallinari, Jokic…Chandler, Gibson, Jameer, etc… and they still have Malik Beasley and Hernangomez to develop
I think you’d have to pull a guard out of Chicago to do that. Maybe Rondo? I’d also think Wilson Chandler instead of Faried or Barton. And does Gary Harris have any trade value? I don’t follow Denver closely enough to know.
Taking Faried is part of why the bulls would get the extra draft pick in that scenario. Barton gives the bulls a wing they need. I don’t think Denver would trade Gary Harris, despite his injury issues.
