International Notes: Vujacic, Hayward, Holiday

Guard Sasha Vujacic is working out hard in Los Angeles in hopes of relaunching his NBA career, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.com (Twitter links). In fact, the 29-year-old is determined to hold out for an NBA deal rather than return to Europe, where he'd surely find a lucrative offer. According to one witness, Vujacic was a hit in the Lakers' gym last week and has been looking sharp in pickup games in the L.A. area after his time in Turkey with Anadolu Efes.

Over parts of seven seasons in the states, mostly with the Lakers, Vujacic averaged 5.6 PPG and 1.3 APG in 15.9 minutes per game. He also showed that he can fill a stat sheet during a run with the Nets in 2010/11 where he put up 11.4 PPG and 3.3 RPG in 28.5 minutes per contest. Italian club Reggio Emilia is looking to make a final roster addition with Lazar Hayward and Justin Holiday as the two main targets, according to Emiliano Carchia of Sportando. If they can't land either player, Cory Higgins is their third option. Hayward, a standout at Marquette, spent last season with the L.A. D-Fenders of the D-League averaging 15.9 PPG and 8.1 RPG. Justin Holiday was with the 76ers for nine games and with the D-League's Idaho Stampede for 47 games, where he put up 17.3 PPG.
Italian club Sidigas Avellino officially announced that they have signed Jarvis Hayes, according to Emiliano Carchia of Sportando (via Twitter). It was reported last week that the longtime NBA forward struck a deal with the club after spending last season with Israel's Elizur Ashkelon.
Former Knicks big man Jerome Jordan has officially signed with Italian club Virtus Bologna, according to Carchia (on Twitter).

Former 10th overall pick Jarvis Hayes, who spent time in the NBA with the Wizards, Pistons, and Nets, is set to sign with Italy's Sidigas Avellino, according to Enea Trapani of Sportando. The 32-year-old forward played for Israeli team Elizur Ashkelon last season.
Yakhouba Diawara has signed a one-year deal with BCM Gravelines in France, and the contract doesn't include an NBA out, says Shams Charania of RealGM.com. Charania had reported earlier this week that the former Nugget would work out for the Heat and Magic, but was still expected to sign overseas. Diawara played in Italy last season.

Commissioner David Stern told WCCO radio in Minnesota that he expects the NBA to introduce blood testing for HGH by next season, according to Ben Golliver of SI.com.
Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson hopes to have a detailed plan to attempt to keep the Kings in Sacramento in place by the end of the month, according to Ryan Lillis and Dale Kasler of the Sacramento Bee.
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich acknowledged that French forward Mickael Gelabale, currently with the Timberwolves, is a player that's interested San Antonio in the past. "He's somebody we thought about a lot over the last couple of years," Popovich said. "We just never really had a position there" (Twitter links via Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News).

Israel's Elizur Ashkelon has signed former NBA veteran Jarvis Hayes, according to the team's website (translation via Emiliano Carchia of Sportando). Hayes, who last played for the Nets in 2009/10, was drafted 10th overall in 2003.
