7:03pm: Pelicans guard Josh Hart has a torn UCL in his right thumb and will be out an extended period, Andrew Lopez of ESPN tweets. The diagnosis was made after he underwent an MRI on Friday.
Hart played through the injury Thursday against Orlando. He’s averaging 9.2 PPG, 8.0 RPG and 2.3 APG this season in 47 games, all but four off the bench. Hart is in his fourth season in the league and will be a restricted free agent after the summer.
The Pelicans are already shorthanded in the backcourt. Lonzo Ball hasn’t played since March 18 with a hip injury. They agreed to sign Isaiah Thomas to a 10-day contract on Friday.
Without Hart, New Orleans will have to lean more heavily on Eric Bledsoe, Kira Lewis Jr. and Nickeil Alexander-Walker.

The Pels were pretty much already done this season, but this nails it. Even though Zion has a better supporting cast in Nawlins than LBJ had early on in Cleveland, he’s proven that he’s not even close to being the next LeBron.
I dont see what that has to do with anything, but ya, I had them out of it before the season regardless. They need defense at the 4 behind Zion and on the wing besides Hart. They added James Johnson and Iwundu (which I forgot for a moment), which helps, but a little too late for that. Now they lose arguably their most important player, so that’s probably for sure GG

The Cavs went 42-40 in LeBron’s 2nd season. They went 50-32 in his 3rd season, and I don’t see the Pels winning 50 games next year.

Exactly. Rocketman seems to forget that Zion was the most hyped up prospect SINCE Lebron. He was never labeled the next Bron in terms of what he brings to the court. The closer we got to the draft his NBA comparison was Barkley and that looks to be a solid comp. When you’re scoring efficiency in the paint is only comparable to Shaq stats, you’re doing something right

That said, as well as Hart was playing…not sure him being there helps this team much anyway. They’re destined to finish right outside the play in either way.
Hart is nice backup SG, wing. Pels could really use a SG. Wouldn’t Redick have helped here, just saying. Best thing that could happen to Pels. Is getting 2nd pick in draft. Jalen Green ….. next great 2.
Redick cant defend, doesnt help on the wing, and also hasn’t shot the ball well this year, which isnt even an issue for them at the guard spots
Pels don’t have enough offense. And their D is not consistent. Their guards don’t score enough. Redick is not the answer. But all he’s ever had is offense.

I said Guards. Their guards don’t score, not consistent. That was Lonzo first half, and Bledsoe most of his career. Just look up their stats. Pelicans issues are no scoring in closing out games. Lost 27 games, 14 by ten or less. The rest they’ve been blown out. Not enough offense, when your D is not good. The point is to win gms right. Not stats.
Having Redick is more offense. Even though his stats are down. His career is about offense and shooting. Not even saying he makes a difference. But when you need offense and you move an offense only player. You’d think you would adjust to that, that’s all. I do watch some Pelican gms lol.
