LeBron James is expected to return before the end of the regular season, Lakers coach Darvin Ham told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin and other media members on Sunday.
James hasn’t played since Feb. 26 due to a tendon injury in his right foot. He was averaging 29.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists prior to the injury.
“We anticipate him coming back at some point,” Ham said.
Los Angeles had gone 5-5 since James was sidelined, entering its home game against Orlando. The Lakers have 10 games remaining after Sunday’s contest.
The Lakers were 11th in the Western Conference standings prior to their game against the Magic but trail Minnesota and Utah by just a half-game.
James is expected to have his foot reevaluated by Lakers medical staff this week. He shed his walking boot a week ago.
It stands to reason James will only return if the team is still in the playoff hunt.
“I think Bron, him being out has revealed that we have a lot of different weapons that are very capable players on both sides of the ball that can help us achieve the goal that we’re trying to achieve,” Ham said. “And when he comes back, he’s just going to add to it.”

Why is Tristan Thompson coming in for a workout with the Lakers????
He used to be teammates with Bron and they won a championship together back in 2016.
I am aware of that …. Tristan Thompson was completely washed as a player for the past 3 years he was in the league. What changed???
It’s because beggars can’t be choosy, The options at the free agent market is currently limited. I mean just look at the Milwaukee Bucks (Signed Meyers Leonard) and the Miami Heat (Signed Cody Zeller)
He got the scoring record so what does he care
Personally, I would like Dwight Howard to return to the lakers. I know his already in the end stage of career. But he is better than those 2 guys mentioned. Plus his playing great over there in Taiwan with the big numbers his putting up at 38 years old. His body is still incredible and in NBA shape and he looks ready to be back in the NBA. I’m not that sure Tristan is in great shape to play for the NBA. If I were the lakers I would get in phone call with Dwight and get him back to the united states
For what it’s worth, half of this board could put up numbers in Taiwan
Let’s just send all the professional, paid scouts home. Niko’s done the hard work for us. Thanks bud.
Lakers play better without Lebron. Don’t get me wrong, scoring 30 points a game is no easy task and Lebron is a top 3 basketball player of all time. His problem is that hes getting slower at age 38, injurys are taking their toll, defense is non-existent, poor shot selection, high volume scoring, too ball dominate which stagnates the offense, and hes getting paid way too much money for the Lakers to improve the team
How does a guy who shoots 50% fg have a bad shot selection ?
@The Human Rain Delay he shoots wayyyyy too many 3s. Hes a high volume 3 point shooter that is barely shooting 30%. Thats not good enough
