Top prospect and projected No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg is entering the 2025 NBA draft, according to an announcement from Duke’s men’s basketball program (Twitter link) and a video posted to Flagg’s Instagram account.
The 6’9″ forward submitted one of the most impressive seasons by a college freshman in recent memory, averaging 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks in 30.7 minutes per game across 37 outings (all starts) for the Blue Devils.
Flagg posted a shooting line of .481/.385/.840 and led Duke to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and a berth in the Final Four. He was a consensus first-team All-American and was named the ACC Player of the Year, as well as the Naismith College Player of the Year.
While Flagg isn’t necessarily viewed as a generational prospect like Victor Wembanyama was in 2023, he’ll be the clear-cut top choice for whichever NBA team wins the draft lottery next month.
The Jazz, Wizards, and Hornets each have a 14% chance to land this year’s first overall pick, followed by the Pelicans at 12.5%, the Sixers at 10.5%, the Nets at 9%, and the Raptors at 7.5%.
Flagg is the third Duke underclassman to declare for the 2025 NBA draft this spring, joining teammates Kon Knueppel and Tyrese Proctor.
You can’t pass to bring no.1.Hope the Jazz win the lottery.
The Jazz need and deserve this one
NO WAAAAAY!!!! I’m stunned. I didn’t see this one coming at all.
Love to see the Nets land him. It’s going to be one of top 3 who lands him. Rather see him go to Washington.
I can see Flagg being the next #1 pick to flop.
Davey I can honestly see that happening easily too. I’m glad you said it
Same I’m glad Davey said that as well. We don’t get along and he’s muted me for spitting facts but I believe Flagg will be a good player but everyone has him as a franchise changing talent already. Let the kid show up in the fall and see what’s he about.
Yeah I don’t always get along with Davey with certain topics. He probably muted me too. I don’t see Flagg as a franchise guy either but this era loves tweeners. His final moments in college was a letdown too
Exactly, like majority of his post game damage and mid range was against smaller wings. Let’s see how he does against the bigger physical wings in the league. I’m eager to see that.
If you don’t believe in Flagg. It’s cause you can’t see talent. First off he’s a true SF with size. That is who he is in NBA. He is clearly yrs ahead of every college player. As far as IQ ball. Understanding the game at hand. He manages the game from a forward position. You never see that. Bron is only other player who came into NBA as ready as Copper is.
To judge him by a team loss. Only says what you think of team ball. The NBA is a TEAM sport. A two way sport. As OKC profoundly showed us on Sunday. Something Cooper excretes whenever he plays.
Cooper is a 2Way talent. A great Team player already. Who has NBA size. Who can play different positions. The only question about him . Is will he be one of best of his generation. The guy is 18. Years away from his peak. There is no doubt he is a future all star. You can’t see he is a definite starting SF in NBA. Then you can’t see talent. And just thrive on the negative culture of the internet…….
Expose yourselfs ……. go ahead.
The future is here!!!
Hopefully he goes to CHA and stays home in NC!
