Although the Heat remain engaged with the Suns on forward Kevin Durant, John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 stated during a radio appearance on Monday that Miami’s offer isn’t where it needs to be to seriously entice Phoenix.
“I have to preface this by saying that offers change. (But) right now, this is what I know, this is as of today. Miami wouldn’t be able to get a deal done today,” Gambadoro said (Twitter video link). “Deals change. You go back to the table, you go back to the drawing board. If you want the guy really bad, you then take guys out (of the offer) and add other guys, or add more draft capital.”
Gambadoro went on to say that the Suns probably aren’t very interested in taking back Andrew Wiggins, who is coming off a down year and is owed more than $58MM over the next two seasons (Twitter video link). He also suggested he’s not sure how much Kel’el Ware would move the needle for Phoenix, though he acknowledged that Miami would be improving its chances of landing Durant by adding the young big man to its offer.
For what it’s worth, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic wrote today that the Suns are struggling to gain leverage in their trade negotiations due to Durant’s age, contract situation, and desire for a fresh start with a new team. Phoenix may have to lower its asking price in order to get a deal done, according to Rankin.
Here’s more on the Heat:
- While Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro are obviously off limits in the Durant trade talks, no one on the Heat’s roster should be considered entirely untouchable for the right player, draft asset, or combination of both, says Ira Winderman of The South Florida Sun Sentinel. Winderman runs through the players currently under contract with Miami, evaluating their trade value and considering what sort of scenarios it would take to move them.
- In two more stories for the Sun Sentinel, Winderman explains why Durant having the Heat on his wish list only means so much and argues that Miami should set a self-imposed deadline to either acquire Durant or move onto other pursuits.
- During an appearance on Tuesday at a Miami-area basketball camp, veteran guard Alec Burks said he remains focused on re-signing with the Heat this offseason and would love to reach an agreement with the team before the end of the month, as Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald relays. “I just like being here,” Burks said. “I like the city. The city shows me a lot of love and my family, I like the organization, everybody I work with. It’s just a great place to be for this stage of my career. I like being here.” Playing on a minimum-salary contract in 2024/25, Burks averaged 7.3 points in 17.6 minutes per game across 49 outings, with a career-high 42.5% mark on three-point tries.
Why do I get the feeling teh Suns will opver play their hand and end up taking a lesser offer for Durant in the end.
KD-Jimmy, 1-for-1. It’s the best possible deal for both sides. I have been posting this for months at this point…
And you have been wrong for months it’s not happening move on
I’m New hear, is Davey.J a parody account?
Nope. It’s “here” btw.
`Because you’ve been here long enough to know how the sausage is made even if you cant quite put it into words yet
KD will decide where Kd goes thus that will cripple the package in the end
*You guys had a deal for him in place bolted down and he KD rejected it just 4 months ago
KD absolutely will make Jimmy-KD 1-for-1 the only deal that all parties can agree on. You are not wrong.
Suns will want more but they will not get more from warriors.
If Suns are looking for the same deal that has [pssed he has only 1 year left. Raptors and Rockets have better players to deal for. Even Heat can make a better deal than the warriors.
KD is getting a 2 yr ext wherever he goes upon arrival
Your trading for 3 yrs of KD or nothing
No team is extending him though. That’s wishcasting by him.
If anything OKC should trade for him now to try and get him another ring next year anyway, to prove they were better than him all along. lol
Sure Davey…..he will have a 2/122 tacked on by July 4th (unless he’s feeling nice) to his new team (whoever that is) .
We will meet back up then to discuss….
to discuss what? How stupid whatever team signs a 39 year old KD to $60M a year is? That is an objectively stupid move. I am correct.
It might be stupid, thats debatable, but its happening, so you saying above no team is extending him is not correct whatsoever and that’s the discussion.
You should really read what you write more
To be a tad more relative
Green, Jabari Smith, Aaron Holliday, and Cam whitmore will cost abouts 60 M next year as well . Pick your poison, its ok to disagree but not understanding the underworkings of the NBA is never going to help your POV’s evolve
cap is correct he will want an extension for a trade. That is why its taking more time. KD has always been about him. Suns also want to cut payroll so they don’t want Butler since he has 2 years left.
Cap and crunch. Correct 100%
So sick of hearing about this guy. Can not wait till he retires.
Yeah, having one of the greatest players to ever live adding excitement on and off the court is just…. awful
Its because KD is a poster as well an all-timer. So his fellow posters are obviously going to be mad an all-timer is also a poster online like they are. They’re supposed to be offline mostly.
He’s done – get over it. It happens. He is destroyer of teams
Based on the reports, it appears no team is offering anything with much value, at least on the player front. Expiring deals don’t drive a deal when the target player also has an expiring deal. Multi-year deals only have value if they’re not below water. A MIA offer without Ware? A a SAS offer that merely off loads Vassell, Barnes and Johnson? These aren’t offers, they’re threats.
PHX was delusional if they ever thought they were getting a big haul of assets, but they should at least get some positive return. Unless things are being misreported, that’s not happening. In no way would I take any multi-year contract that I don’t like without consideration coming back. I’d rather keep the expiring KD contract.
Honestly GSW should extend Kuminga then trade him 1-1 for KD in January.
Kuminga’s value is just as likely to be negative as positive under an extension. Depends on the extension terms, and how well he plays prior to the trade. And its just those two things. Nobody, other a few people who post online, care much about the scouting reports on him at the time of the 2021 draft. Even the scouts who wrote them, it’s trivia at this point. If it were more than that, the player would have already been traded when he was making very little and easy to trade.
Kuminga, even still as a development piece, knowing full well Kerr screwed him every single chance he could, is still a nice piece to trade for if the team is rebuilding. Not sure if that’s the Suns, but it well could be.
Kuminga is one “light bulb” moment away from being a superstar in this league. He has done everything a little bit already, as stated he needs to be consistent, which he cant do with a terrible HC like Kerr running the team.
LOL. One light bulb moment from finding the vision, touch and basketball IQ needed to be a superstar? OK, believe what you will. But even if you’re right, its still true that if you extend him on the hope that you’ll get a haul for him in a subsequent trade, then the trade can’t happen until after that light bulb moment occurs and he’s played a sufficient stretch of season thereafter to establish to the rest of the league that it occurred.
Hope Heat cut a deal with Warriors for Kuminga… I hope they don’t get Durant. 60M a year, 37 yr old injury prone… Go get kuminga…
Historically all signs would point to DXC being right on nose
Only spec of light for GSW is
1- They might be able to squeeze the number down a tad more than traditionally w historically low cap avail in the market
2- GSW always seems to rub 3 nickels outta a dime whenever they decide to covert strike the market
But yea thinking your gonna make a killing on a JK trade is looney tunes (S&T or in January)
Why did you use the phrase “make a killing” here? It makes no sense. JK isn’t a scrub, you are acting like he is. He’s been good, he’s been bad, he’s been hurt, he’s had poor developing by Kerr. None of these mean he is bad at NBA hoops. Kuminga isn’t getting traded for Alec Burks 1-1. Yeah sure GSW will likely use him in a package deal, but youre talking like he is worthless, which isnt true. He plays bad when there are bad players around him. Kerr chose to play overrated nepo scrub GP2 over him. Not his fault. GSW is playing in the Finals right now if Kerr doesn’t do that.
GSW are contending now, they aren’t trying to “win” any trades by getting lots of draft picks and players. They are trying to find that “1 guy” who glues the team together and can put up 30-40 on the regular when Steph is not there. They would move anyone to find him, they are trying to make that “death blow” trade, which historically do not reflect well on the team making them. Nothing to do with Kuminga’s prospect status.
Why did I use the word killing here?
Well hmmmm
you started by saying
Davey J • 37 mins ago
Honestly GSW should extend Kuminga then trade him 1-1 for KD in January.
Do you read what you write?
How is 1 year of KD vs how many YEARS of whatever extension JK signs “a killing”? KD is old and injury prone, you act like its 2014 right now. It’s not.
Trading JK for KD is in no way, shape or form, a “killing”. Unless its 2014.
He’s a FankenStein lol. He doesn’t care what he writes. Just goes unts and screams ..
If Vassell and Keldon Johnson and Wiggins and Jalen Green are all so valuable, then they should trade for each other and just not involve Durant
Spurs should just pay Desmond Bane price for Jalen Green since he’s so great. Or maybe Michael Porter Jr.
Translation of the Spurs situation. We don’t want him but if you trade him for nothing we’ll take him. Then next season they will flip him for draft picks
@ Davey J bahahahaha hahahahaha hahahahaha
Best trolling for hits of seen and you’ve had so many no.1 hits lol. Kuminga for KD, lol. That’s awesome.
Do we have any clarification on what the suns are asking for specifically from each team? The only thing I’ve seen reported that seems to have been confirmed on a deal with specific players was Toronto. Everything else I’ve seen is just speculation on what they are asking for.
Any Rockets, Spurs, Heat, Twolves fans heard from your local insiders that cover the team what the suns specifically are asking for?
All just speculation
Whats been floated
Tor- RJ and Poetle light draft capital
Hou- Green Jabari Whitmore filler + 1 first
SAS – Vasell and keldon or Barnes ,14 pick this year + 1 meh first later
TWolves- Complicated but probably Randle DDV 17th pick centric
Heat 2 rumors
A- Can expire Roz Duncan Love mucho draft picks (likely 20 pick this year and there last 2 tradeable firsts in 2029 and 31 – * Find this unlikely
B- Wiggins Duncan Novic 18 pick
Thats probably ALL top end offers tho, perhaps they can net one of them, dont see the bidding getting much higher but theres some solid offers there. I like the Tor one most , if Tor puts 9 pick on top of that this year Im jumping out my boots on it if Im Phx . Id even throw um back whatever late 20s pick Phx has this year to get that done
Burks come back to New York. He should have been signed instead of Payne. Come back!!!!
I heard Real Madrid are interested, As are the Sydney kings and Shanghai Sharks. And get this, anonymous sources say there is mutual interest.
OK back to reality….KD is going where KD wants and he will be extended on arrival 100%.
Finally PHO might start lowering their price… I hate seeing teams wanting the sun and the moon for a guy that they no longer want!
At the end of the day the league is a business and as such, sellers never set the price, buyers are the ones who decide what they want to pay… then the sellers can take it or not!
Just take whatever they give you for KD and move on, is not about getting the most out of him.
Losing KD for nothing is like 2.5x better than giving him for Jalen Green or Devin Vassell. Those are terrible players that will cost another 2 first round picks to dump like KCP.
Hah, Jalen Green went from the next star guard to a terrible player overnight… okay. 😳
He was never that guy and 9 points per game in 6/7 playoff games will do that.
Jayson Tatum, Devin Booker, Donovan Mitchell, Fox, basically every good guard performed well in their first playoff series
Jalen Green was Kevin Huerter. Kevin Huerter’s playoff games look a lot like Green. I don’t know how you can consider that a value, especially given a player option with guarantees the least team friendly outcome (either he’s worth more and will opt out or is not worth it and will opt in).
We will end up spending another two firsts just to dump them, so why bother?
Well sometimes you can generate a bidding war but that’s when it’s not a 37 year old player. The Suns need to lower their expectations.
It’s not about high expectations. It’s about actual value and not taking bad contracts without compensation
Just cutting KD is more productive than getting below replacement level players likr Vassell.
If they were trading Vassell for Terry Rozier, I would say that the Heat need at least two picks to absorb the next four years of his contract.
If I’m the Heat, I leave this alone. Durant doesn’t make them title contenders, and they should not mortgage their future on making a deal for him. Keep the picks and for the love of god keep Ware. He’s gonna be a stud.
I don’t get KD to Miami at all, Bam, KD and Herro arent a big 3 that’s going deep in the playoffs.
Steph, KD and either Jimmy or Draymond however, that’s a trio that can cook every team…
I think we can all agree KD will be moved ….
No team is giving up assets for a one yr player. So KD will havr ro agree to an extension.
So at 37 yrs old. Who is he worth it to tor 3 yrs. Has to be a team who thinks they can contend next three years. Its not rocket science lols…. Only FankenStein can’t see this. The rest of us know Suns want players and youth.
If I’m Spurs or Rockets I rather go for Giannis. He is there tor over 5 yrs. Whoever looses out to Giannis. May shift to KD. But then teams like Minny, Miami can make better offers. For Heat to make it work. They need Raptors. Wiggins best landing spot at this point in his career is Toronto. And Ingram is a better mix for Suns. Yeah the cap has to be worked out. This trade makes most sense to me.
Spurs didn’t trade for Fox. To wait 3-4 yrs for Harper to develop. I expect the Spurs to move that #2 pick. Even if its not for Giannis.
Draft night will be fun ………..
No one wants Wiggians. Overpaid and lazy. He’s a negative asset
