The Warriors will be without three important frontcourt players on Monday against Utah. In addition to center Al Horford, who will miss at least a week due to right sciatic nerve irritation, and forward Jonathan Kuminga, who has been unavailable since November 12 due to bilateral knee tendonitis, Draymond Green has been ruled out for Monday’s game due to a right foot sprain, per Anthony Slater of ESPN.
Green was listed as questionable before being downgraded to out, which may be a sign that his injury isn’t considered significant. Of course, Kuminga’s knee soreness also wasn’t intially viewed as a cause for much concern, but he’ll miss a sixth straight contest on Monday and his return isn’t necessarily imminent.
The Warriors had hoped he’d be able to practice on Sunday, but that didn’t happen, according to Slater, who adds that imaging on Kuminga’s knees came back clean, showing no structural damage.
“He said he’s not moving that well, so I can’t tell you what the outlook is,” head coach Steve Kerr said on Sunday. “He needs to feel better and be able to move better before we can put him out there.”
We have several more injury updates from around the NBA:
- Mavericks big man Anthony Davis will miss a 14th consecutive game due to a left calf strain on Monday, but head coach Jason Kidd said the plan is for Davis to take part in practice on Wednesday, writes Grant Afseth of Dallas Hoops Journal. Assuming Davis practices without a setback, his return shouldn’t be far off, Afseth notes.
- The imaging results on RJ Barrett‘s sprained right knee “look promising,” according to Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic (Twitter link via Josh Lewenberg of TSN.ca). Barrett is out for Monday’s game vs. Cleveland but seems to have avoided a serious injury and is being considered day-to-day.
- Sixers rookie VJ Edgecombe (left calf tightness) will miss a second consecutive game on Tuesday vs. Orlando, but center Joel Embiid (right knee injury management) has been upgraded to questionable, tweets Kyle Neubeck of PHLY Sports.
- The Bulls are hopeful that Zach Collins (left wrist surgery) will be able to practice with contact this week, according to Joel Lorenzi of The Athletic (Twitter link), who says Collins has a chance to return during the team’s post-Thanksgiving road trip that begins on Friday and runs through next Monday.
- Pacers guards Johnny Furphy (left ankle sprain) and Quenton Jackson (right hamstring strain) could be back in action within the next couple weeks, head coach Rick Carlisle said today (Twitter links via Dustin Dopirak of The Indianapolis Star). Carlisle added that rookie Kam Jones has recovered from his back injury, but is still in the ramp-up process and could play for the Noblesville Boom in the G League before making his NBA debut.
Time and tide wait for no man
The new Warriors promo ads feature Steph, Jimmy and Al = Kuminga and Draymond are goners. They are both going to miss a ton of games before the big trade goes down. Who will it be for? Sabonis, Giannis, Bam, Zubac?
I think they probably shoot for levine
Famously, an elite rebounder
Probably SGA and Ant in a three teamer where the Warriors give up Moody and Kerr’s used socks!
Horford and Kuminga regret signing with GS
Horford should have stayed in Boston. Lol
AD
AD is made of glass. Gimmie Zubac please. The Dubs love a Euro big, whether its Bogut, Zaza or Bjelica.
I’d definitely want them to add Sabonis. As a Celtics fan I hope he ends up there tho.
Sabonis is Euro, he works too (but also is injured)
Zubac is my #1 non-Giannis pick, I think the Clips have to rebuild at this point, and GSW has up to 6 FRPs to trade/pick swap with, along with Kuminga, Dubs have enough to get a nice return for Zubac on the Clippers end.
What do you mean man, the clips are in solid shape all they need to do is sign Uncle Drew next!
Bogut is not a Euro. The Warriors don’t care where they are from.
Bogut was born before Australia became independent from the crown. Lol
Oh look who Kerr started at the 3….GP2…smh…no defense incoming….
Watch the Jazz get out to a massive 1Q lead…its 7:01pm…lets see if I am right…
Jazz went out to an 11-0 start and after 1Q it’s 35-26 Utah. Hmm…maybe I know ball?
What on earth does Kerr see in Payton? Payton has always been an undersized, lesser talent, made of glass, nepo baby. Yet Kerr acts like he is Lebron James. Why? We all can see Will Richard has “the stuff” but Kerr buries him behind Payton, who proceeds to get cooked on both sides? Incompetent rotation use by the head coach.
Payton with 8 ast. Thats what Warriors are lacking. A playmaker a ball handler. Nobody has really been doing it. Payton hasn’t been doing it either except for today. Jazz are terrible so nothing to get excited about. Gotta get healthy lol.
Dude that Will Richard was a great pick. 4 yr player that teams think are done at 22 yrs old. Like the fake fans on here. Solid solid. To find a rotation guy in late second rd. Great pick.
Payton had a -3 in 21 minutes. He stunk. He does not belong in the role Kerr loves to give him. Will Richard had a +29 in 22 minutes. You are right, he is a baller. Why doesn’t Steve play him at the 2/SG? He played bad because he was playing with 2 other guards out there, but when he is out there with Steph and a proper 3, Richard is amazing. They should try him at the point too.
If anything, this game proved both Richard and Post (another 2RP) had a breakout game, Post dominated on both sides +27 in 28 minutes.
Agreed, Jazz are terrible and play no defense and were on the second night of a road b2b, but the Warriors letting them get 117 points proves Payton is terrible and the Dubs defense still has to get better. I cannot believe how much people love Payton that they ignore his +/- is terrible. The Warriors broadcast wouldn’t shut up about him, while ignoring the 2 young bucks showing out. I felt trolled.
Btw, Steph Curry is locked IN. Haven’t seen him play on fire and GSW lose as much as they have. Kerr gotta go for that reason alone. Like, I get if Curry stinks, you likely will lose, but how do you fumble an on-fire Curry?
I will leave this “Game review” post with this:
Gary Payton II is a minimum wage guy who got no other offers from other teams, but anytime Kerr runs into bad play, or gets flustered or is in a late and close game, he views him like he is Lebron James. The Warriors lose all those games. Why? Will Richard destroys Gary Payton. Play Will Richard. Moody does too. Stop playing Payton unless in a 1-off drawn up play.
Payton started vs the Jazz and the Jazz immediately went 11-0 on him. They drew up pregame plans and they worked until Kerr took him out. Payton had a -3 in 21 minutes in a win, and all the commentators glazed him nonstop while ignoring the actual-impressive, winning play by Richard and Post. Bro, I hate my fave teams coach and commentators, why does it have to be like this? Warriors should win the title every year Steph is healthy, just play your 5 best players at once, Kerr’s nonsense moves like believing Moody, Richard, Payton and Podz are bigs and his intense minutes for his 2way guys and 14th and 15th guys are making me insane lol at least win if you’re going to do this crap!!
Plus minus being your go to stat with no actual analysis of what you “saw” on the floor other than being able to read the score board. Obligatory Kerr bashing and Curry suckling.
This is a Davey banger if I’ve ever seen one.
Funny thing about all Davey’s Payton bashing, Curry is the one who lobbied Dunleavy to sign Payton. Obviously, some of Payton’s playing time is because of Curry.
This is for My Buddy the Sixer fan. Who thinks #3 picks are saviors …….. are you counting the games he is missing ???? Are you counting the mins he’s playing.
Godd speed VJ stay well be well ……,
