Serge Ibaka recently teased a potential return to the NBA, tweeting a black and white picture of himself practicing in an open University of Miami gym with the caption “@nba Comeback.”
The 14-year veteran’s most recent NBA action came in the 2022/23 season, when he appeared in 16 regular season games for the Bucks and averaged 4.1 points and 2.8 rebounds in 11.6 minutes per contest.
Ibaka played the following season overseas with Bayern Munich, with whom he averaged 12.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks while shooting 48.0% from three. He spent last season with Real Madrid, averaging 6.5 PPG and 3.3 RPG during EuroLeague play.
The 36-year-old Ibaka led the league in blocks three times during his NBA career and won the 2019 NBA championship as a key contributor for the Raptors. He rose to prominence as an important member of the Thunder team that, along with Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook, lost the 2012 NBA Finals to the LeBron James-led Heat.

Did you see him in his last year in the league. Bro he is washed. I agree with you on the need this not it. However I loved him when he played. Was great starter. Was the muscle of the team and as much as perk annoys me as a commentator. Him and ibaka was holding it down for OKC
But why was he washed? Maybe he just had a lot of little things accumulate and needed rest? Size doesn’t really age and you see a lot of older guys still hanging around (DeAndre Jordan). What if Iblocka has gotten the rest and feels better than he has in years? He is so much a better option than Seth or GP2. GSW only needs like 10-15 MPG from him too. We need to take as many of the undersized role player guards away from Kerr as possible and replace them with bigs. GSW getting eaten alive every time the opp goes big. Kerr still dying on this hill. Insane. Should cost him his job.

Be probably could play DeAndre Jordan role for GS but thats not need already have a bunch of older vets. He won’t be able to play. Too slow and would get cooked in p&r situations with fast guards. No need for him on GS. Some players age well other don’t. Hartford has and out side and inside game. If he could only play outside it would be hard to play him. He also still guard 5’s at a good rate. Love ibaka but father time won this round.
Those little things accumulated come right back in the nba after about 3 games if you get decent minutes.
If you’re not gonna give him those minutes, no need to sign him.
No they don’t it’s not like riding a bike. We’re not talking about pickup ball. For the greats yes because they have 4-8 things they can do and 1-2 of those things they can come back in do. For a guy who shoots plays Defense if guys are going around you or you don’t have the timing and the spacing to get the shot off you’re going to be ineffective on the floor. That’s why I said if he’s coming back into DeAndre. Jordan role (He doesn’t actually get any minutes. He’s there as a veteran presence) then yes. But why would GS need a player like that? They’re the second oldest team in the league. They don’t need another veteran presence off the bench. They had plenty of vets and experience on the team already

I am not disagreeing on Seth. Another big man is want GS needs. I just think ibaka is done. I went back and just watched some of his last two years. He looks slow, fouling a lot and the lift looks gone on his jump shot. I don’t think he can give the 10-15 minutes and his athletic ability has daminshed. I think you need a athletic big who can catch lobs and finish around the rim. Jordan doesn’t play. He was signed as a veteran presence because No doesn’t seem to know how to build a team.

A 30 yr old Ibaka is exactly what Towns needs next to him starting. Not Mitch or Hart. A defensive stud rebounder 4. That is what is missing.
