There’s a general consensus in the Warriors organization that Jonathan Kuminga has played his final game in their uniform and will be traded before the February deadline, Brett Siegel of Clutch Points reports.
Kuminga has not played over the last nine games, including seven DNP-CDs during that stretch. Part of the reason why is that Kuminga’s representatives don’t want to risk him getting injured, Siegel writes.
There’s apparently a mutual understanding between the Warriors and Kuminga’s representatives that a trade will be reached over the course of the next four weeks.
Kuminga will become eligible to be traded on January 15. He signed a two-year, $46.8MM extension as a restricted free agent at the beginning of October. His cap hit is $22.5MM this season, with a $24.3MM team option in year two. He’ll earn a trade bonus worth about $1.7MM if he’s dealt on the first day he’s eligible to be moved.
The two teams situated at the bottom of the Western Conference standings, the Kings and Pelicans, stand out as franchises that have held a strong interest in Kuminga since the summer, according to Siegel. Another recent report named the Mavericks as a team with some interest. The Bulls and Trail Blazers (per Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo Sports) have also been been linked to the former No. 7 overall pick.
The Warriors remain hopeful they can get at least one player in a Kuminga trade who can immediately impact their postseason aspirations this season. Golden State’s main goal in trade talks involving Kuminga is to find a three-point shooting wing who can also blend with Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green on the defensive end, according to Siegel.
They are willing to package Kuminga’s contract with either Moses Moody or Buddy Hield to achieve that goal of getting an impact wing. Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. is the type of player the Warriors are seeking, but Brooklyn reportedly isn’t interested in Kuminga, Siegel notes.
This is the most annoying basketball situation. Kuminga isn’t even that good. I don’t understand all the drama.
He’s not gonna be the key piece in any star trade ! He will land then a neat role player warriors will be better off for it and Kuminga will begin his trek of playing for 6 teams over the next 8 years as journeyman
Nobody should be expecting a star in a trade for Kuminga unless he is one of multiple pieces for that star. The more it looks like will be role players that fit the warriors need. Who is mavs going to trade to get Kuminga? they are not trading AD. Most of their players are small so unless its for Gafford can’t see any deal happening unless Gafford and Thompson for Kumionga and Heild so Dallas gets rid of Thompson deal but mavs would want a little more. Portland has Grant but why would Portland give him up?
When was he ever worth a star ….. all Warriors have done is lowered his value every year. What did I say !!
His value will never be bigger than it is now. After TWolves series. Be thankful it will be iver soon.
Warriors made some missteps but the biggest reason Kuminga isn’t s star is bc he was never gonna be one and was never meant to be one! He was the modern day Corey Maggette as a prospect and as a player! There’s a place for him in the nba but not the kind of role he thinks he deserves! Maggette acceptef that lets see if kuminga ever does or my prediction he will bounce around hakf the league in his career will be proven correct
I don’t even get the defense for him ! Yes warriors jerk him in and out of the rotation but it’s not without merit! The fool is delusional in thinking warriors should change their system and how they play to accommodate him to run thr offense through him with dead end isolations and when it doesn’t happen let’s it effect his defense
Yeah at 22 it’s all over him …. Don’t go into hiding when he breaks out.
When he doesn’t ever make an all star appearance he won’t even be one of the top 50 most talented players never to do so ! But beyond that factually and accurately stating he’s never gonna be a star isn’t hate it’s living in reality!
H3 just needs to be happy being a role player
Like I said at 22 he might as well retire. Do you understand players didn’t even come into NBA before age 22. You have any idea how long that list is. Use your phone before you post lol.
If you watched tge game tonight. Do you inow who Reid is. McDaniels is. Both still getting better. Reid is 26. Mcdaniels is 25.
Shoot If he was willing to accept a role like McDaniels he Would be in a great spot with the warriors with a lot better contract then the warriors! Mcdaniels doesn’t ridiculously insistent on the offense being run through gim in also! As for the age thing he’s 23 and he has a long career ahead worst caee he’s like a modern day Corey maggatte talented player who never found a long term home! His best case scenario is he finds his niche playing a role like Mcdaniels or og ! Again I don’t think he suck’s u don’t think he’s bad saying hes not a star of future star doesn’t mean he can’t be good
I doubt you know any of that is true. Why make stuff up. Don’t you want to know the truth about players. specifically lottery picks. You talk about McDaniels like you know something. .do you know what scouting reports are before the draft. Not him or Reid had better ones than JK. Difference is they were given a chance to develop. Now at 26 have shown that trust. What does JK have to show for Warriors stay. Yeah its all on him. So why is he still on team. Why is he getting 24 mill. Cause the warriors think like you do.
McDaniels is 25 JK 22. Yet his career is over. Yeah OK
Again factually and accurately stating he’s never gonna be a star is just telling the truth but it doesn’t mean his career is over! He’s gonna be in the league a long time and it’s ok if it’s just as a role! A role player once one finals mvp on the team kuminga currently plays on over curry in 2015! If one thinks being called a role player is an insult that person has problems! There’s a huge gulf between star and scrub several layers
Also the league is littered with young talented lotto picks who didn’t become stars! It happens more often than not!
Why are you talking about stars. JK is not even a rotation player yet. He’s got a long way to go yet.
I don’t want to go all day on hun ! Don’t want to go into percentile of his fault the current situation is! Right now kuminga has a problem that goes beyond just warriors! Right now no team is interested in kuminga in the kind pf role he wants and thinks he warrants they are just not ! For his sake on his next team even out of spite against warriors he does the things for that team he wasn’t interested in doing with warriors! Guarantee if he does it will improve his standing in the league and increase his opportunities! But if he continues to sulk about not being given a star role on offense and let it impact his effort he will hang in the league but he will be constantly changing teams
Cory maggette is wayy better than JK. Not even close. I’m not sure. Kaminga has it in him. You have to think these are apples and oranges maggette didn’t expect 25 million a year JK does. I don’t see a role for him. I bet he bounces around to 2 to 3 teams over the next 5 years guaranteed
Maggatte in his day when the cap was lower got the equivalent of a four year 90 million dollar deal! But you are right he was a better offensive player then jk ! Kuminga offensive game is just like his that’s why I compare him ! Maybe a little Darius miles as well
I think Darius miles is the better comp. Corey mcgetty really has some really good years. Darius miles just never took off and really just uses athleticism and that’s all JK does. He’s going to have to learn how to find a role. He has zero role. Can’t shoot that well. Doesn’t defend that well. Not that great of a rebounder I mean he’s good at all these things but he’s not elite for great at anything
Warriors definitely share some fault but the idea they never gave him a real chance iwc disingenuous! They gave him plenty of opportunities to find his role and niche within their system around curry that’s done them well ! What they didn’t do was give him the exact role he wants and he often ( not always) let it impact his effort!
I agree with this statement. Well said
GS did nothing to enhance his trade value. They have handled this whole thing very oddly.
Well if the only way to build or have built up his value was to change how they play to give him what he wants that’s not a option as there’s other players on the team
All he had to do was be happy playing defense and running the floor and finishing! It’s what his role should be anyways but it’s also how you earn on ball opportunities! His current teammate butler was a example
Agreed, GhostofThomasHamilton. I was really hoping for a sign-and-trade this past summer, and then was relieved he didn’t accept the qualifying offer. But I think any Warriors fan would be lying if they claimed to have known the Kuminga-Dubs saga would play out as it has the last two months.
What did Kuminga do to enhance his value.
If they don’t play him there is not much he can do to enhance his value. Easy to understand.
Like I mentioned earlier to Al the idea they never gave kuminga a chance is a lie! What they didn’t do is change the way they played to accommodate kuminga and the way he wants to play and they shouldn’t have! Kuminga doesn’t warrrant the kind of role he wants with warriors or any team
@GhostofThomasHamilton In your opinion, what should the Warriors have done to increase his trade value? I’ll reiterate what another commentor said below. What has Kuminga done to increase his own value? Warriors overpaid him immensely so they can create a slot that benefits him. He’s lucky to be making $22.5mil. My issue is that they should have traded him a few years ago, when it became clear he was not in it for the team but for himself. But when you have owners who idealize players and coaches who understand the level of their players, that’s the discrepancy in how it was “handled very oddly”
The Warriors could REALLY use Gafford!
Will the mavs trade Gafford is the question.
Now they need a big. You bi-polar.
Could the Sixers acquire Kuminga?
They could use a Power Forward
It would be nearly impossible. They do not have enough expendable salary to match kuminga. Grimes has a de facto no trade clause, so that would leave oubre and Drummond as the next two highest salaries, still not enough to acquire kuminga.
I was gonna say Paul George makes more sense on GS than Phi but no way to match salaries. Oubre + Drummond + Grimes works…
Man Grimes would be major. Doubt Sixers want JK. PG has 4 yrs left.
Oubre is not coming back to the bay. That ship sailed a long time ago; it may have even run into a few icebergs.
Like I said before Oubre is Kuminga’s future. All the talent in the world but so inconsistent that he is nothing more than a bench player.
Kuminga’s too small for a PF
Kuminga’s season went exactly the way Kerr wanted. It was so predictable. Thats why Kuminga didnt want to sign. After the first 12 games, he literally wasnt going to play. What a farce bizarre fiasco.
Very weird the way he’s been treated.
The way he’s been treated? Or the way he’s been playing?…. Let’s not act like JK is still learning how to play the game. He’s struggled because he lacks skills offensively and defensively. Maybe the Warriors don’t have the best development team, but if you’ve watched him play closely, it’s not “the way he’s been treated” as to why he’s not living up to his 7th pick potential. He’s just not good enough
Some guys rise above their circumstances, and some shrink
He’s good enough to get minutes on this mediocre Warrior team. There is no doubt about that whatsoever.
@GhostofThomasHamilton It’s very clear and apparent you don’t watch Warriors games. Kuminga has refused to adapt to the role provided. He adjusted the first few games of the season but quickly regressed to bad habits. He holds the ball on a team that relies on the ball to move quickly to generate open looks. He takes out of rhythm and contested mid-range shots with 14-15 seconds left on the shot and is statistically one of the worst mid-range shooters in the league. If he adjusted to his role, he’d be getting minutes. Please enough of your comments on a situation that you have very little grasp of. We all don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes, but if you don’t watch the games as a fan, then you definitely are just talking out of your ***
Why did they start him then? Why did they sign him to $23-24m per?
Because the other option was let him sign the QO and let him veto trades. His value is certainly above 8 mil so you’re not gonna get anything back in return at that price and certainly not somewhere Kuminga would want to go.
So sign him to a high salary deal he hasn’t earned so you can trade him before the deadline for something at that price range.
But they have screwed themselves by basically admitting that if he plays it’s either going to be ugly for the team or tank his value. Now you have to convince someone to trade someone getting paid 20-26 mil. The only guys whose teams would be willing to get rid of at that price are less than desirable.
Problem was the warriors waited too long and over priced him so there was not much offered for him. They could have traded him before last years draft and probably got a late 1st rounder for him. Warriors over played their hand and after the draft most teams had nothing to offer to stay under the cap.
Kuminga leads the team in rebounds per game. Still.
If he was really going to affect winning, in a positive way, for the Warriors, you don’t think that Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond would have advocated for him to get playing time?
That organization would do anything for Steph, and him asking for a teammate to get some burn wouldn’t be farfetched.
But even those guys know that he doesn’t help.
No NBA head coach is a bigger detriment to his team than Steve Kerr is.
Three yrs late ……..
So what do Warriors need most ?? What is best they can hope for ?? Who are the players available Warriors can get.
D Day has finally arrived ….. so imagine if Warriors had drafted Maxime. Instead of trading him away. This trade would be looking a little better.
I understand why they hung on. Thought he would develop but that didn’t happen. Sure – blame Kerr but Kuminga was not helping the team win when he was on the floor. It will be very interesting to see what the return is. I’m hopeful for a veteran contributor like Norm Powell.
Dream on JBS, Kuminga is tax bill relief and will be dealt accordingly
Raynaud doesn’t play defense. Post does.
Yeah that’s a great answer. When both could be playing …. I remember every player Knicks passed on. Knowledge will set you free.
The Warriors needed a reliable center who is both an offensive and defensive threat. Toohey came highly regarded for his defense, but needed to work on his offense. The Warriors would have done the same thing with Raynaud that the Kings did, send him to the GLeague. He came up because Sabonis is injured. Post has graduated from the GLeague.
Warriors already have a Raynaud in TJD. It would be just more wasted space.
I doubt you know who TJD is. So why are Warriors looking for a center.. the more you talk the less you know. You understand he was your pick. You understand they didn’t take anyone ……. Genius
Horford has been injured. They have actually changed what they are looking for. They might have solved the center problem.
Great
Al once again you proved to be a fool. You think a guy who plays for the worse team in the west would make the warriors a top team. SMH His stats he is a -20 almost every game. Averages 10 pts a game playing 35 minutes barely 10 rebounds. Plays no defense. You can give TJD 20 minutes in a game and he can do what Raynard does in 35 minutes. Why are you here Al when you know nothing about the warriors.
See why is it you think insulting is the way to go.
You have shown your basketball expertise here for yrs. You are clueless. For you agreeing with me is last thing you will do. I only present the facts. You nly have uneducated takes. All personal.
What part of passing on a player is difficult for you. How many answers do warriors fans have. Obviously your team didn’t think he was worth it. Why is it you have more excuses that a ten yr old.
SMH you don’t even know it you talk down to everyone here Al.
You don’t know who TJD is….. put down
the more you talk the less you know…… put down
Come on you just played the vitcim card. Al you only come to talk down to everyone. You must have a huge ego to not know what you are doing.
You don’t know cause you wouldn’t talk about him like you do. First he isn’t a center. Never was never will be. If your going to argue a point. You should know what you are talking about. I’m not here to teach you. Especially when you go against everything I say. You don’t even understand your ignorance lol. I give you facts. And you call me names. Brilliant. Why don’t you explain why Warrior passed on Raynaud …….
link to nba.com
Raynaud’s defense is suspect.
I did explain why warriors passed on him they already had players like him.
So why are there rumors of Warriors looking for a center. Post is a decent guy with upside. But he plays more like stretch 5 now. Warriors are a bad rebounding team. And worse at giving up offensive rebs. All facts you don’t know. Yet argue like you know. The weakest NBA fan can tell you they need a center. The whole NBA knows they need a center.
The storyline has been around for yrs they need a center. They signed Al cause they need a center. Al is not a true center and he is hurt. Do you even read about your team. Cause there are stories by every sports syte they need a center.
The internet is full of stories of them passing on Raynaud a center. Yet you are here on an island clueless of the need for a center. Either you don’t keep up with this tean. Or you really don’t understand this game. And just accept whatever they do. ………… passing on Raynaud is the dumbest move in the draft. And it was done mostly for financial reasons. More info you are unaware of. Yet you will argue just to argue. You are a WAGONEER.
You don’t even have the basketball knowledge to criticize your team. All teams make mistakes. All teams miss on the draft at times. This was just a big miss. Considering they needed a center. And the difference between us. Is I told you that draft night.
Now go and make up a lie about this so you can feel better.
1. Warriors looking for a Center that can set picks and rebounds. Post is still learning but he is a streatch 5 center. many teams are much bigger than the warriors so they need more tall players. Not hard to figure out.
2. warriors are not a bad rebounding team a middle of the pack rebounding team
3. Al is being more used as a PF again the warriors do not have much in tall players and Al can’t play extended minutes
4. Raynaud will never be more than a back up center. There was no experts or warrior fans claiming they blew it for not picking him. You made that up.
5. Why don’t the Knicks trade for raynaud. Oh wait they don’t want him or the other 30 teams. Al you never said anything on draft night. How far down the warriors were picking it was a hail mary to get any good player. Richards got passed over by a lot of team and looking like a good player.
6. You should be more embarassed that the Knicks let Kobe Sanders go. He looks better than Richards or Raynaud and the Knicks gave him away.
Information is out there for all to see. Am I the only who cares about information and facts. If you are going to criticize or hate on a player. You should show him the respect to know who he is. And not just put out reactionary responses. Based on emotions and not facts ………. That’s the difference between us …….. whats the big deal of missing on a draft pick. Happens every draft. Only the weak think it’s something oers …. Hilarious.
Why Didn’t Maxime Raynaud Get Picked in First Round of 2025 NBA …
While it’s too early for definitive regret, the Golden State Warriors, along with many other teams, are facing questions about passing on Maxime Raynaud in the 2025 NBA Draft, as the skilled 7-foot-1 center is quickly emerging as a productive, versatile big man for the Sacramento Kings, showcasing offensive skills and spacing that could have filled a need for Golden State. Warriors fans and analysts have noted the missed opportunity, seeing Raynaud as a potential impact player who could have developed into a strong rotational piece, especially given the ongoing uncertainty at the center position for the Warriors.
Go look him up ……… lmao

I told you on draft night. This was a mistake.
Do you read what you are linking to:
“The 22-year-old does have some limitations. His age lowers his ceiling a bit, and he is not much of a presence defensively. He is not physical, and he is not much of a rim protector in spite of his height.”
“The big man was productive defensively at Stanford, but his ability to guard the perimeter will have to improve at the next level, especially since his offensive profile suggests he’ll have to play more forward than center in the NBA.”
What is it you always say about the Warriors needing a rim protector? Post is a better defender. He also keeps getting better.
@giants74 notice how Al makes up things. He claims fans and analyst said they missed out but he can’t name them. Wouldn’t the real warrior fans like us know about that. i have never heard any analyst or fan say the warriors missed out on him have you?
Can you name those warrior fans and analysts that said the warriors missed out on him? name them because you can not…
The more I think about it, it is definitely “personal” for Kerr. It was TWO years ago when Kuminga spoke out that he lost all faith in Kerr. Kuminga probably also didnt get along with Nick Kerr.
Lacob will fire Kerr.
Speculating about the relationship between Kuminga and Steve Kerr’s son is a window into the baseless, asinine reasoning displayed by the vocal fans of Golden State on this website.
Never heard anything about Nick and Kuminga. Last year Nick was in the G league and Kuminga didn’t play there.
I agree 100% Michol. You see it.
WHY did the Warriors offer Kuminga 5 yr $150m contract after 3 years in 2024?? It was only a year ago, lol. What happened???
No frigginnWarriors writers have guts to dig in… these writers are all a joke… just a mouthpiece for the team.
They didn’t, he would have snap accepted. He had not and still never has produced at an equivalent level to that contract. Stop repeating this BS from the summer, it’s less believable now and still false.
Both things can’t be true. Kerr can’t have ruined his development with a personal grudge and also GSW offer him 5/150. Even you can see why they contradict one another. And you’ve said both in this thread.
Both can be false though, and that’s my opinion. He was never that good and they never offered him that contract because he never displayed being worth it.
Google it, lol.
Kuminga asked for 5/$150 and the warriors offered 4/$100 and Kuminga camp turned it down from reports. Warriors did not feel confortable giving him a max deal he wanted.
Arc, most of us remember it as it being at least $125 and closer to $150m. He was offered 5 yr contract. Regardless, WHY did they offer 9 figure contract to a guy who’s not good enough to play for the team???
I remember it being discussed on radio and the max at that time was 5/$150 and the warriors refused to go that high and went 4/$100 which Kuminga turned down. the discussion they were having is it worth it to get him angry over 1 more year and a little more money.
I’m a Warriors fan, but this has to be one of the most mismanaged player developments in history
It sounds to me that Kuminga wants out as much or more as the Warriors want to move on from him. It’s just a match that didn’t work out. But they both may lose, as the Warriors will have a hard time getting any value for Kuminga, and Kuminga won’t have much control (yet) over where he will land.
He has been DNP’d while being the team leader in rebounds per game, and his team has literally lost 10 games now via going small and ignoring the very idea of a power forward…which is easily defeated…by playing a power forward…
We all talk about how Lebron has ruined team after team before leaving, but Curry constantly begging Lacob to sign Gary Payton II might have been the domino to start all this. GP2 had a freak couple games in the Finals vs the Celtics as a PF, and ever since Kerr has believed this 6’1″ guy can be played regularly at forward in 2026. No other team offers him a contract, just GSW because Curry begs them to. But playing GP2 as a forward, or with Podz, its a trick move that worked in 2022, was stale by 2024 and is just a joke now. Teams are just waiting on Kerr to go small, which he will, and pouncing. The Clippers unit they tore apart, which could have been prevented, was Dray-Moody-GP2-Podz-Curry. It’s literal malpractice to play GP2 and Podz at the same time. Just idiotic coaching that will never work. GSW actually has a good roster, Kerr is just an abomination at every single aspect of his job. We all saw he blamed the teams issues on not having practice…literally its his job to call practice. But that’s why he is “Mr. Half Day”.
I could see Sacramento or Washington making some kind of sense
As a Heat fan, I’ll pass; they already have Wiggins, and the 2 people I compared Kuminga to were Wiggins and Luol Deng; they dont need redundancies. Also, both teams are relatively similar, and have similar needs, and dont match up great in a deal
I think the Warriors would gladly trade Kuminga for Wiggins
Heat would need to take Buddy too for that deal to work.
The Warriors need a 3pt scoring wing that can rebound.
They are out there, but can they be gotten.
Would the Warriors attach a 1st round draft pick
To make it happen?
The team who gets Kuminga will be worse off and will just have him for a half year before they release him.
And the Warriors will be out in the first round, if they make it out of the play in,
Looks like everyone’s sad.
last year they knocked Houston out of teh first round and I bet you cried for weeks after that.
Trade podcast Draymond
Kuminga, Green, Hield, 3 FRP and 3 pick swaps for Giannis and Thanasis.
Kuminga works best with an uptempo team. He is a big SF scorer. Who has to work on his shot. Teams that want a SF for next ten yrs. Should come calling. Nets, Wizards, Grizz, Pels, Bucks all can make it work.
The Nets already said no.
Actually Bucks can make a last-resort trade for Kuminga. Could it convince Gianni’s to stay?
If not, you have quite a good replacement there, to develop with space, shots, playing time, etc.
They have absolutely no assets for any other thing.
Demar for kuminga?
Seems like a Kerr move
Kerr doesn’t make the trades. Dunleavy does.
Warriors do not want to take on bad contracts
Why do they play this game with him? Is it a pride thing that they must get some ideal return value even if it takes years? I just don’t get it. Everybody needs to move in from this stupidity, he barely plays, Kerr doesn’t like him, the relationship with the org.has to be so hostile and resentful ugh
What game? Kuminga’s game is inconsistent. Kinda hard to give a guy lots of minutes if they are up and down.
One of your best in the playoffs last season. You’ve really blown that entire draft and two timeline concept.
warriors had ONLY had 2 top 10 draft picks in the last 12 years and only 1 in top 5 during the worse draft during covid year. So they didn’t blow it because teh % of finding all stars were very limited when only 2 in 12 years.
Him constantly being on the trade market and either not playing or barely playing, but they keep holding out for some great trade return for him, they wouldn’t let him sign with another team as a free agent. It feels like this has been going on for years, is it really worth this much effort and distraction, just get him off the team, they don’t want him. Just move on so he can maybe have a career. This is absurd, what return could they possibly holding out for for a player they don’t even want in their lineup.
The Warriors really should have traded Kuminga during the 2024 off season when it was obvious he didn’t fit Kerr’s system and he wouldn’t be anything special
Actually, he played really well at the of 2024. He struggled the next season.
Nets Receive:
Johnathan Kuminga
Buddy Hield
De’Anthony Melton
Trayce Jackson-Davis
Warriors Receive:
Terance Mann
Ziaire Williams
Cam Thomas
Haywood Highsmith
Warriors don’t have the salary cap to acquire MPJ and gutting their roster of role players wouldn’t be ideal. This trade gives them a 20 ppg scorer off the bench and wing depth. Nets get a slasher to pair with their young core. Could flip in the off-season as part of a package for Giannis.
I assume you’re kidding, right?
Melton is too valuable to the warriors to give him up. melton is the only real ball handler on the team.
The Warriors are literally talking about MPJ and Claxton lmao, you avoided the two guys they actually want, for 4 they don’t. They also have stated they are keeping Melton, so this trade is pure wishcasting from a Nets fan.
I’m a fan of well played basketball, no objectivity in any of these trade scenarios. What the Warriors want vs what they can afford are two totally different scenarios. It’s also reported the Warriors don’t want to move on from Draymond Green and if that’s the case they do not have the cap space to obtain those two players. So they’re either lying about Melton or lying about Draymond lol. Appreciate the feedback.
Trading Kuminga, a player whose game Kerr does not like, for another player that Kerr would not like, Cam Thomas, makes no sense.
Their games are objectively different. Cam Thomas is a shooter vs Kuminga that’s a slasher. Warriors won the finals with a player like Cam (Jordan Poole). The Warriors biggest need is wing defense and this trade fills it.
problem is Mann contract is an over pay for the production he gives you is why the deal would never happen. rather have Meton than Mann.
I actually think this could make some sense depending on health of 3 of those guys coming back from th3 Nets…
The main question would be 3 years remaining for Terance Mann, and what GS could get out of Zaire Williams at the 4/3, likely playing him as a 3/4. If he can knock down shots more consistently, it works, again assuming health of Highsmith especially
Warriors would not want Mann since he is a bad contract. Highsmith is just an add on. Zaire and Thomas has value. Melton has more value to the warriors than 3 of the 4 guys coming to the warriors.
Mann and Highsmith are great defenders, and make up for some of the loss of Melton, who you also have other options for on the roster already, like GP2. Its not bad, except for the 3 years on Mann; if it was 2 years, or like $4-5 million per less, it would be a much easier choice
The need for Melton is great when the other players on the warriors can’t handle the ball is why they lost 3 of their games. Mann contract is not good especially on a top heavy payroll team like the warriors with no wiggle room.
They would have several playmakers in this case, but again, its not important b/c this deal wouldn’t be happening; I’m just saying its not bad theoretically, if Zaire Williams can knock down shots, and Highsmith can be healthy, but also, I specifically mentioned the 3 years being an issue, so I dont get why this is such a sticking point. Nobody said Amazing trade, just that it could work theoretically/isnt bad
Williams does fit what the warriors need. i just don’t see the nets wanting Kuminga that badly to take on Heild contract.
First time I’ve seen Portland on these rumors. They must be shopping Jerami Grant and Robert Williams. They seem to fit what GSW needs. Portland gets Kuminga and Moody who both get another opportunity on a young developing team. Portland can try all manner of schemes to see what works best -> which is a good excuse to keep them out of the play-offs this year, which in turn gives them one more bite at the lottery before they become a perennial play-off team and conveys that 1st to CHI.
The warriors did nothing to try and increase his value. Really odd move if you ask me.
Horrible asset management by the Warriors. They sure know how to tank the value of young assets. They’re gonna be in BIG trouble once Curry has gone downhill
Kuminga will be a key player on a championship contender in 2-3 years and the Warriors will regret this lunacy. Dude plays well, gets benched, and then everyone expects him to just… ignore the stupidity?
I don’t think I’ve ever seen worse player development from any team in sports, and I am a Mets fan so that’s a high bar to clear.
Its not the team but Kerr. He doesn’t like rookies and perfers old vets. He doesn’t allow rookies to make mistakes and learn during the season so they are afraid to shoot and make decisions. Once Kerr is gone after this year you will see the team go after younger players.
In addition to Sacramento and Washington like I mentioned earlier, other options could be Dallas and Detroit.
Kuminga, Santos, Seth Curry with picks going back and forth probably for Klay Thompson, Naji Marshall, and picks (2nds)
Kuminga, Hield, Santos, GP2, Seth Curry for Khris Middleton
I actually cant figure out the salary matching with Sacramento b/c both teams are hardcapped, and Keegan Murray has a poison pill contract
Detroit makes sense in a couple of different iterations…
…Didnt edit in time, but I also would low key add Boston, Indiana, and even OKC in there as possible
Kuminga, Santos, Hield for Minott, Scheierman, Simons
Kuminga, TJD for Jarace Walker, Obi Toppin, Jay Huff
Kuminga for Aaron Wiggins, Kenrich Williams, and AJay Mitchell
Kuminga, Heild and Horford for Draymond Green’s best friend Rudy Gobert and Joe Ingles
Nikola Vučević and picks for Kuminga
Heild, Horford and a 2nd for Klay Thompson
Promote Spencer and sign Wiseman
