April 1: The Warriors issued an update Wednesday on Curry’s condition (Twitter link), stating that he participated in in a five-on-five scrimmage on Tuesday and “continues to make progress in his return-to-play protocol.” He’s expected to take part in another scrimmage later this week before being reevaluated over the weekend.
March 31: Warriors star guard Stephen Curry is targeting Sunday’s game against the Rockets for his long-awaited return to action, The Athletic’s Sam Amick and Nick Friedell report.
Curry has been out since January 30 due to patellofemoral pain syndrome (runner’s knee) in his right knee. Curry, who went through his first full practice in two months on Tuesday, was scheduled to take part in five-on-five scrimmaging after practice. As long as he continues to progress, the tentative plan is for him to return against Houston.
“He went through a full practice, but it was very light,” coach Steve Kerr said. “We didn’t do anything live.”
A team source later told Amick and Friedell that Curry handled the scrimmage well, but his status will continue to be assessed daily. Curry has appeared in 39 games, averaging 27.2 points and 4.8 assists in 31.8 minutes per night.
Golden State has a back-to-back this Wednesday and Thursday. After Sunday’s contest, the team will have four regular season games remaining.
The Warriors are currently in 10th place in the Western Conference, holding the last play-in spot. They’re a game-and-a-half behind the No. 9 Trail Blazers and three games behind the No. 8 Clippers.
Warriors forward Gui Santos said the team was excited to have Curry participate in practice.
“It’s amazing, man,” Santos said. “Just to have him out there with us, it’s always great. We have a lot more confidence when we have a guy like Steph on the court. There’s no doubt about it.”

Little late
Might as well just shut him down rest the season
No sense and sending him out there to
A. Go thru runners knee again
B. Have it turn into something worse like damage to the cartilage behind the kneecap
C. Suffer a new injury
Is risking his 2026/2027 availability really that important this year with Butler Moody out and Porzingis not being a pillar of health himself
Makes more sense to rest him retool the roster during the off season around him and shoot for 26/27!
Actually, there is no danger of him damaging his cartlidge from the type of runners knee he has. His recovery had him doing squats.
Anyone who sits then comes back. At most competitive time of season. Runs the risk of injury. Just from playing not being in best game shape. Add to that banged up bodies. Just isn’t worth the risk. For any player especially a team’s top players.
His runners knee problem is not going to all of a sudden turn into cartlidge damage to the knee cap.
Of course not. And not being in game shape never hurt anyone either. I wouldn’t let him. I guess he knows his body.
It’s not runner’s knee they’re worried about. It’s the bone bruise.
The Warriors have one job. Finish behind the Blazers and Clippers.
The only reason I could see Curry coming back is to play 20 or 25 minutes each game and get some NBA run so there’s not such a long gap from January 30 to October 15.
Ride that 9% odds into a top 4 pick. Although even at 11-12 Its a good asset in a trade, and gives them an extra pick to deal, since they can trade it before the draft with 4 future picks, and do the deal after the league year once the new picks available to deal.
why would they trade any draft picks sinc ethey are close to a rebuild?
You would trade a draft pick to acquire a player who you thought would help the team in more ways than the draft pick would.
C’mon Davey don’t leave us hanging. Chip incoming.
YES YES YES YES YES
RING #5…LOADING….
GRAB THE POPCORN, YALL! LETS SEE SOMETHING…
DRAYMOND FINALS MVP AND RIDES OFF INTO THE SUNSET A CHAMPION
That’s next year. No way he turns down $27M to play terribly next year.
You can’t seriously think that Steph coming back in the 78th game of the season (if it even happens) means “RING #5…LOADING….”
It’s one thing to be a fan, but quite another to act like there’s any possible chance of that happening.
At Davey…Lucky the spread needs to be covered and the NBA is where big leads early go to die. But, did you just see that first qtr from Boston? Good lord. Oh, this is a Warriors thread, my bad oops 🤭😭
What for. Curry’s new house has 5 doors. 5 New Ring door bells.
lmaooo
So less playing time for Cryer, Spencer, GP2 and Melton + more Steph Curry = hmm, what do you all think is going to happen? lol
I hope for the Warriors’ sake that he avoids a setback or worse. His wanting to compete is admirable, but the goal should be a loss in the play-in.
Breaking up is hard to do 🎼
What’s the big deal of getting ready for next year. And one last run. Got some cap space and a good pick coming. Concentrate on that. This year is over.
It’s not over until they are eliminated, Al!
Think like a winner!
I am lol. I’m thinking about coming back stronger and with everyone next year.
League execs worried Warriors will “load up like crazy” next offseason:

Must be anonymous execs, lol.
This article about Warrrors “loading up” is click-bait.
Curry, Butler, Green and Moody cost $160M.
That leaves $30M for 11 players.
There won’t be enough cap space to retain De’Anthony Melton, much less “load up”.
Which makes sense. More than the Kawhi/Lebron signing rumors do
I’m not a KP guy. Cause you can’t trust him lol
“DNKP”. He’s built for Kerr s offense.
Our glorious ethical hooping GOAT is merely days away from his long-awaited return!
