Former lottery pick Gradey Dick would be amenable to a trade this offseason, according to Michael Grange of Sportsnet.ca, who suggests that moving off the 22-year-old is something the Raptors will likely consider as they look to manage a tricky cap situation.
Dick was drafted 13th overall in 2023 and showed some promise during his first two NBA seasons, knocking down 36.5% of his three-pointers as a rookie and then averaging 14.4 points per game as a sophomore. But his playing time (14.0 MPG), scoring average (6.0 PPG), and three-point rate (30.1%) all dropped off in 2025/26, casting doubt on his future in Toronto as he enters the final year of his rookie scale contract.
Dick’s $7.13MM salary for 2026/27 is fully guaranteed. He’ll be eligible for a rookie scale extension beginning in July and would be on track for potential restricted free agent during the 2027 offseason if he doesn’t sign a new deal this year.
We have more on the Raptors:
- Confirming a prior report indicating that the Raptors inquired on Jaren Jackson Jr. at the deadline before the Grizzlies traded him to Utah, Grange says Toronto was actually “working hard” to try to acquire Jackson at that time, but Jakob Poeltl‘s contract was a sticking point, since no team was willing to take it on without being heavily incentivized to do so.
- Poeltl was still dealing with a back injury around the trade deadline, but the big man said his back didn’t bother him after the All-Star break or during the playoffs, per Grange. Still, that doesn’t mean Poeltl will have significantly more trade value this summer, since teams will remain reluctant to take on a deal that still features at least $81MM in guaranteed money.
- The Raptors appeared very willing to move RJ Barrett at the trade deadline, while Brandon Ingram earned an All-Star nod and led the team in scoring, but it was Barrett, not Ingram, who was more valuable in the postseason, Grange writes, wondering if the team might explore moving Ingram this offseason. Barrett will be entering the final year of his current contract, and while he’s an extension candidate, Toronto may be hesitant to lock him up long-term, as Grange and Eric Koreen of The Athletic point out, since he’s the only Raptor who will be on a big expiring deal that could be appealing in a trade. For his part, Barrett said on Monday that he hopes to stick with his hometown team.
- Sandro Mamukelashvili, who holds a minimum-salary player option for 2026/27, said on Monday that he “really wants” to return and that he loved the city and the organization, per Grange. However, if Mamukelashvili declines his option, the Raptors will only hold his Non-Bird rights and may have to use another exception to make a competitive contract offer.
- Exploring what the Raptors learned as a result of this season and their first-round playoff series loss to Cleveland, Koreen writes that Scottie Barnes is a bona fide star and that rookie Collin Murray-Boyles also looks like a long-term cornerstone, while head coach Darko Rajakovic deserves a contract extension. However, Koreen also notes that Barnes may need a co-star that better complements him and adds that the team badly needs more shooting.

I feel like Gradey Dick can be a great player, I dont know why the Raptors stopped using him
They could have used his shooting, I believe if they trade him he will flourish on another team
He shoots 34 percent from 3 over his career, which is below league average.
Before this really weird 3rd season, he was shooting 36% for his career, which is not bad at all for a young player
36% is still only league average. When you can’t make plays, rebound or defend you have to have a higher 3pt shooting percentage than league average.
Again, he is like 21 years old, 36% is not bad for that age at all
Also he wont develop other parts of his game if he is always on the bench
34% is considered the mark they want. To be considered a good shooter. Gradey was a better shooter in college. Its his height and mechanics that make him an upside talent. He needs time. The NBA doesn’t slow down for everyone the same way. Plus Raptors have their own issues. Gradey will be a shooter imo.
What do you mean “34% is considered to be the mark they want”? It clearly isn’t because they’re not playing him. He was drafted as a floor spacer and can’t space the floor. His above-the-break 3 point % is for sh*t. Gradey is among the absolute worst defenders in the league. I guarantee you that if he was in the rotation, for this playoff series against the Cavs, that series ends in 5 games. They would hunt him mercilessly.
Yeah then just give him away or just cut him. The NBA uses 34% as the mark. It’s called analytics. Go search it and get informed.
My guy, I don’t give a damn what the NBA does. If you draft a player as a 3 point shooter and he shoots 34%, no one is going to be happy about that.
What an idiotic statement. Why you even talking about 34% when the article says that Grady shoots 30? Like, wtf are you even on about?
You wanna act like you know some sh*t? Let’s do it. Landry Shamet shot 39.2 percent this season. If he shoots 34, he is nowhere near your rotation. Yet the NBA uses 34% as their mark, right? Sybau
Jamal Murray’s a Toronto guy. Go get him. Perfect fit.
Ingram & Quickley for Murray & Cam Johnson?
Hmmm have to admit that’s an interesting suggestion. I don’t know if Denver would go for it, but it is interesting.
Quickly & CMB + 1st round pick for Murray, if salaries work
Raptors better not think they can get anything of big value for Gradey. maybe a 2nd round pick or a bench player. His value has drop to about nothing.
The Poeltl deal will never make sense to me. They seem pretty handcuffed to that money.
He was a solid centre until the back issues started.
Ingram and Quickley need to get traded for Toronto. Nobody will ever take Poeltl’s contract
I bet Bulls would take it for Patrick Williams
I’d take a bag of chips if it meant getting rid of that PWill contract
In this scenario, you would be getting stabbed to get rid of Williams, seeing that Poetl’s contract is not a positive
Ingram for Dillon Brooks & Grayson. Ingram,Quickley and Gradey with picks for Giannis & Portis. Leave Poetl unprotected so someone else can take on that contract. Sign Nurkic.
Raptors should see what they can get for Ingram. Makes no sense to me. You bring in a guy that plays the same position as your best player. How is that team building. They should chk out Maluach.
Ingram is a good value trade piece for them. And their pick is a solid pick this year. Imo those two moves can upgrade this team.
Where would Ingram be a good fit? Who is gonna take him? I like Ingram but his iso midrange game is not prized in the league.
Would be to a team that is desperate for offense and wanting to unload players they don’t need. Ingram problem has always been defense. He is a one way player.
No he’s not. Ingram is a perfectly average defender. He’s not a stopper but he’s not a liability.
Its why he was benched on the olympic team because of his poor defense.
The Kings (Kangz) love players like Ingram
He can work with Booker. He’s a better fit there than Green. Green and Maluach can work. Probably give Suns two 2nd rd picks. Only I move Green to a third team. Raptors can’t move Poeltl. So you have Maluach back him up and learn. You can get value for Green. You still have your pick this yr.
He’s a great fit in Toronto.
He didn’t play last three games. And only had two decent gms. gm1 – 17 pts they lost. Gm 4 – 23 pts they won by 4. They don’t need him. No team imo should bring in a player on max money. Who plays same position as your best player. What kind of team building is this.
TOR has many problems, but Ingram isn’t one of them. The guy has been, and remains, one of the most skilled wings in the league. He can do it all on that end of the floor. His issues have been defense, and, even more so, staying healthy. For most of this season, though, it looked like he put both behind him. The injury in the playoffs can’t be just written off because of his history. Still, he’s far and away their best offensive player, even being held back by the lack of a supporting cast on that end. He played 77 games of the regular season. He’s a HOLD, at least for the next season.
I always liked RJ from his days with the NYK. He really cares. Nobody worked harder on his game (even Quickley, which is saying a lot). I was really happy to see that last shot of his in Game 6 defy the odds and go through the hoop. But, despite his place of birth, TOR needs to move on from him. It’s not his fit with Ingram that’s the problem, it’s his fit with Barnes.
TOR, more generally, needs to lose (or kill and bury) the Masai ideal player profile. A roster full of position-less non-shooters is cutting edge, it’s just not effective. They need to reconsider the value of guys who are just plain old guards.
