Hornets Sign Terrel Harris For Rest Of Season
THURSDAY, 12:21pm: The Hornets have officially signed Harris for the remainder of the season, the team announced today in a press release.
WEDNESDAY, 8:00pm: The Hornets are expected to re-sign guard Terrel Harris for the rest of the season when his second 10-day contract with the team expires tonight, reports John Reid of The Times Picayune. Harris will take up the final roster spot for New Orleans when the move becomes official, meaning the team would have to waive someone on a guaranteed contract to sign anyone else this season.
Harris saw significantly more action on his second 10-day deal with the team than he did on his first, including more than 28 minutes of run on March 18th against the Warriors, when he had four points and five rebounds. Still, those are the only points he's scored in 79 total minutes over six games with the club. Harris began the season with the Heat, who kept him on their roster all of last season on their march to the NBA championship. The 6'5" Oklahoma State product has averaged 2.7 points and 2.1 rebounds in 12.2 minutes per game in his two NBA seasons.
Harris will become the 11th player this year to sign two 10-day contracts followed by a rest-of-the-season deal with a team, as our 10-day tracker shows. That's more such deals than in any season since 2007/08.
Nets Recall Shengelia, Taylor From D-League
Here are today's D-League assignments and recalls, with any additional moves added to the top of the page throughout the day:
- The Nets have recalled Tornike Shengelia and Tyshawn Taylor from the D-League, the team announced today in a press release. The two rookies played well in their most recent stint with the Springfield Armor — in three D-League contests, Shengelia averaged 22.3 PPG and 7.3 RPG, while Taylor recorded 23.3 PPG and 7.3 APG. The duo will rejoin the Nets tomorrow.
Jazz Sign Jerel McNeal To 10-Day Contract
The Jazz have signed Jerel McNeal to a 10-day contract, the team announced today in a press release. Because Utah released Raja Bell earlier this month to sign Travis Leslie, then didn't renew Leslie's first 10-day deal, the club had an open roster spot, so a corresponding move isn't necessary.
McNeal, 25, had been playing for the Bakersfield Jam, the D-League affiliate of the Hawks, Raptors, Clippers, and Suns. The former Marquette standout was named a D-League All-Star this season for the second time. He has averaged 18.1 PPG and 5.5 APG in 44 games while helping lead the Jam to a D-League-best 32-13 record.
The Raptors brought McNeal to camp this past fall, but didn't include him on their regular-season roster, cutting him about a week before the season got underway. As our 10-day contract tracker shows, this isn't the first time McNeal has been signed to a 10-day deal, though he has yet to appear in an NBA regular-season contest.
D-League Moves: Acy, Liggins, Orton

- Quincy Acy has been recalled from the Bakersfield Jam by the Raptors, the club announced today in a press release. In 13 D-League games this season, Acy has averaged 13.0 PPG and 7.7 RPG.
- The Thunder have once again assigned DeAndre Liggins and Daniel Orton to the D-League, the team announced today in a press release. When I looked at D-League assignment trends last week, Orton and Liggins ranked among the most-assigned players of the season, and this is the second time both players have been sent to the Tulsa 66ers since then. The 66ers will play the Rio Grande Valley Vipers tonight and tomorrow as they look to lock up a D-League playoff spot.
Hawks Re-Sign Shelvin Mack For Season
Following the expiration of his second 10-day contract, the Hawks have re-signed Shelvin Mack for the remainder of the season, according to Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (via Twitter). Vivlamore had reported yesterday that the two sides were in talks about a rest-of-season deal for Mack.
Mack, 23, had his best game with the Hawks in last night's loss to the Pacers, recording 10 points, four assists, and a pair of rebounds to go along with two three-pointers. Since joining the Hawks following stints with the Wizards and Sixers, Mack has appeared in nine of the club's 12 games.
With Mack now under contract for the rest of 2012/13, the Hawks are at the maximum 15 guaranteed contracts, meaning we likely won't see any more roster moves from the club before season's end.
As our 10-day contract tracker shows, Mack is the ninth player this season to be signed for the season following two 10-day deals with a club.
Clippers Re-Sign DaJuan Summers
The Clippers have re-signed DaJuan Summers to a second 10-day contract, the team announced today in a press release. Summers' initial 10-day deal with the Clips expired last night.
Summers, 25, has only briefly appeared in two games for Los Angeles so far, scoring a single basket in seven total minutes of action. In his three previous NBA seasons, the former second-round pick played in a total of 81 games for the Pistons and Hornets.
With Summers locked up for another 10 days, the Clippers will soon be facing decisions on him and Maalik Wayns, who is also on his second 10-day deal. Both players will have to either be re-signed for the season or released when their current contracts expire.
Mavericks Sign Justin Dentmon
MONDAY, 11:06am: The Mavericks have officially signed Dentmon to a 10-day deal, the team announced today in a press release.
SATURDAY, 11:45am: The Mavericks are set to sign Justin Dentmon to a 10-day contract, according to ESPN.com's Marc Stein (on Twitter). Dentmon will fill the spot left by Chris Wright since the Mavs are not going to re-sign him to a second 10-day deal.
The Mavs are quite familiar with Dentmon, who plays for their D-League affiliate Texas Legends. The 27-year-old has been strong in 2012/13, averaging 22.3 PPG, 4.0 RPG, and 3.7 APG this season for the Legends and the Austin Toros. Last year, Dentmon received 10-day contracts with the Spurs and Raptors and was named the MVP of the D-League.
Dallas is apparently looking to audition multiple guards between now and the end of the season. After Dentmon they'll likely test out one more backcourt option before making a final determination.

The Australian native has appeared in 11 games for the Spurs this season, averaging 2.2 points and 1.4 rebounds in 6.6 minutes.
Bobcats To Re-Sign Jannero Pargo
SATURDAY, 11:36am: The Bobcats have re-signed Pargo to a second 10-day contract, according to Bonnell (via Twitter).
FRIDAY, 6:02pm: Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports that the Bobcats will re-sign Jannero Pargo to a second 10-day contract, and whether or not they decide to keep him further than that will depend on the health status of Ramon Sessions (Twitter links). Sessions has been recovering from a sprained MCL he suffered earlier this month, and faced a timetable of two to four weeks.
In four games for Charlotte, Pargo has averaged 10 PPG and 3.3 APG while shooting 44.8% from the field and a remarkable 55.6% from long range on 4.5 attempts per game. He's also scored in double figures in three consecutive contests for the Bobcats.
Thunder Assign Jones, Liggins, Orton To D-League
The Thunder announced that they have assigned forward Perry Jones, guard DeAndre Liggins, and center Daniel Orton to the Tulsa 66ers. Jones has appeared in 34 games this season with the Thunder while recording averages of 2.2 points and 1.5 rebounds in 6.9 minutes per game.
In 20 games with the Thunder, Liggins is averaging 2.2 points in 4.4 minutes per game. Orton has seen time in just eight NBA games this season with Oklahoma City and recorded a total of 16 points. All three players are expected to be in uniform tonight when the 66ers take on the Iowa Energy.
