Free Agent Notes: Nash, Watson, Dalembert

So far this morning, we've heard that Mo Williams could end up testing free agency and that Chauncey Billups is looking forward to hitting the open market. Let's check in on a few more potential free agents, including a Rocket, a Bull, and a two-time MVP….

  • Jared Dudley believes his Suns have a good shot at re-signing Steve Nash this summer, as he says to Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld: "If he wants to go try to win a championship, hey, more power to him. If he wants to stay and help this process, more power to him. I definitely think he’ll weigh his options and see what he can do. Steve wants to compete and he wants to play for an organization that wants to compete. If he feels that’s the Suns or another organization, he’ll definitely decide that, but I definitely think it’s 50/50. I think the Suns have a huge, real shot at bringing him back."
  • Although we heard earlier this month that the Bulls aren't likely to bring C.J. Watson back next season, the team hasn't informed Watson of its decision, which must be made by July 10th. Watson tells Kennedy that he's optimistic he'll return to Chicago: "I expect to come back. They have until July 10 so I’m just waiting to hear from them and see what happens. I want to be back. I love the team, I love the city, I love my teammates and I love my coaches. I think it’s a good fit."
  • Like Watson in Chicago, Samuel Dalembert is on a non-guaranteed contract with the Rockets for next season, and isn't sure whether he'll be retained. The Rockets have until July 8th to make a decision on Dalembert's $6.7MM deal, which is partially guaranteed for $1.5MM, and the big man tells Yannis Koutroupis of HoopsWorld he'd like the chance to play another season in Houston.
