Hornets To Part Ways With Hugh Weber

The Hornets will not retain president Hugh Weber, writes Jimmy Smith of The Times-Picayune.  New Orleans Saints president Dennis Lauschawill be now be president of both organizations and oversee the operations of both franchises.  Saints GM Mickey Loomis will also oversee the Hornets' basketball operations in addition to his current football responsibilities.

Weber helped guide the team through their period of ownership limbo and helped facilitate Tom Benson's purchase.  The exec, who has spent six years and change with the club, was also instrumental in working out a new lease agreement to keep the Hornets in New Orleans through 2024.

No other major changes are expected to be made in the front office and Benson confirmed that GM Dell Demps and Coach Monty Williams will retain their jobs.  In a bit of non-basketball news, a source with knowledge of the Hornets' thinking told Smith that the idea for a nickname change will be fast-tracked and there could be a new name in place for the 2013-14 campaign.
