Thunder Offered Brooks Three-Year, $11MM Deal

Thunder General Manager Sam Presti has offered head coach Scott Brooks a three-year deal worth just under $11MM in the past, but he and his agent weren't willing to accept it, league sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.  The two sides have set aside talks for the playoffs and a guaranteed fourth year could make a new contract happen.

Regardless of what happens in the Finals, it seems likely that Oklahoma City will be open to tacking on a fourth year to their offer.  The Thunder needed to see Brooks take one more step with the club before committing for too many years and he did that with the team's six-game victory over the Spurs.

Wojnarowski writes that Brooks could conceivably use the Portland and Orlando jobs as leverage, but it's hard to imagine him walking away from the Thunder.  By the same token, it's hard to imagine Oklahoma City finding a better fit for their franchise.
