Latest On Magic Coaching Search

With the Nets, who had been the leading contenders for Dwight Howard, out of trade talks for now following the re-signing of Brook Lopez, the team has begun to focus on its head coaching search. Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel reports former Pistons coach and current Sixers assistant Michael Curry has been added to the list of candidates for the position.

Curry joins a list of candidates that includes assistant coaches Jeff Hornacek of the Jazz, Lindsey Hunter of the Suns, Michael Malone of the Warriors, Brian Shaw of the Pacers and Jacque Vaughn of the Spurs, Robbins says. GM Rob Hennigan told reporters, including John Denton of Magic.com, that a hire could be made as soon as next week.

"We’ve made what I consider to be some pretty good headway in that regard,’’ the GM said. "We’re still working through our research and buttoning up some things, but I can say that we’re making progress and coming up with some clarity in the very near future.’’
