The Kings have been derailed with injuries, but the team has had some bright spots with the play of Rajon Rondo topping that list. Entering Saturday, no one in the league had more assists per game than the Kentucky product. The point guard also has four triple-doubles in just 13 games, which also leads the NBA.
Rondo signed a one-year, $9.5MM deal with Sacramento after it appeared interest in him was dwindling. His contract is being lauded as one of the best bargains in the NBA in the wake of his hot start, as 17 point guards have a higher salary this season than the 29-year-old Rondo. That includes Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight, who both play the point at times, but often share the backcourt as well.
Rondo needs to have a strong 2015/16 season in order to rehabilitate his value after a failing to live up to expectations upon arriving in Dallas via trade last season. He’s trending in the right direction and if he continues his level of production, he will likely see a hefty raise on his current salary.
That leads us to tonight’s topic: What kind of offers will Rondo receive when he hits the open market next summer and do you think he stays with Sacramento or signs a pact with another team?

I honestly don’t think he will get much. Maybe 3 years/$36 million b/c of the rise in the cap. I honestly don’t see anything that changes his place in the market in comparison to last offseason. Maybe the fact that there aren’t many PGs will help him, but I don’t think he gets much more than something like that. That being said, the market, and the way people have been paid, might say otherwise.
Three years/ $36MM might be a bit low. I can envision him getting a Three-year, $45MM-$50MM deal if he keeps up this level of play, but that’s no guarantee.
4 year/ 44-48 million. Based upon him maintaining this genre level of play. I’ve watched several of his games this year. Sometimes tries to do too much and gets turn over happy. Cant make a jumper outside of the free throw line (he even struggles from that distance too). But he can play heavy minutes and run a half court offense very well. I could see a team going for the 4/46 type deal. Now if they get Coach Kalipari in town, I believe Rondo will remain a King.
Four years at close to $50MM seems about right, although it could go higher if several teams really want him. The soaring salary cap means a lot of teams will have money to burn next summer.
he’ll get paid this offseason and next december try to get his coach fired…ijs
no matter what he does this season, unless there’s a huge hole at point guard, I do not give him more than a two-year deal. we all know a few teams will — and likely mistakenly — go to four years, though.
