Trey Burke‘s first year in Philadelphia isn’t going as well as his father had hoped. Burke has played in just 10 games for the Sixers this season and Alfonso Clarke Burke II took to Instagram to express his concerns.
“Man get my dude off this team. Killing him. They will not get out the East without bench scoring. Free TB23 please,” the elder Burke said (h/t Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer).
The point guard, who’s on a one-year deal with Philadelphia, said he doesn’t share his father’s view on the issue, as he explained in a statement provided by the team.
“Earlier today, I was made aware of my dad’s social media post,” the statement read. “While I appreciate the support he’s shown throughout my career, his comments don’t reflect how I feel and we’ve addressed that. My focus is doing whatever I can to help this team win a championship. I appreciate the support this organization, the fans and city of Philadelphia have shown me.”
Teammate Kyle O’Quinn was one of the many people to “like” the post before it was taken down. The Sixers didn’t comment about O’Quinn, though they told Pompey they believe the social media post is a non-issue.

Rule has been playing well off the bench but he doesnt lead a second unit and doesn’t play D. He’s a scoring reserve PG. easily replaceable but also everyone team usually needs one
To be fair to Trey’s dad. Neto is not good and his minutes should go to a more productive player like Trey. Their defense is essentially average. I would trade Neto before the deadline to free up a roster spot for the buyout market. Portland has a lot of injuries. Not too many West playoff contenders in need of a back up to back up to the back up PG. Probably get cash or a pick for him.

Lot of odd things happen in the NBA. Guys get traded that have never touched foot on an NBA court.
Neto was hot. I agree they aren’t rotating those two like they should. Instead they just keep hoping Neto gets it going when they should be giving them both more chances. Trey can shoot, but his dad is saying their bench will keep them from getting out of the east? Your son is still on that bench man. This is why you don’t do the talking. Leave it to your sons agent to take care of this.

The guard situaion for PHL as a whole is messy, but all offer something. Burke is getting the fewest minutes among Richardson & Simmons backed up by Neto, Thybulle, Korkmaz & Burke. Dad is worried about son getting his best year. Neto is the new OConnell and room must be made for Thybulle but Burke has not gotten that consideration.
Scoring PGs are NOT the best but someone should offer for Burke. Unless, the limited PT is forcing him to be more efficent than normal.
I meant, Burke is getting his apparent best year ruined by low PT.
Randle needs a wide open style. The change in PGs and HCs should benefit him, maybe enough for confidence.
