The Clippers are in serious talks with the Knicks about acquiring Marcus Morris, tweets Shams Charania of The Athletic.
L.A. is offering Maurice Harkless, Mfiondu Kabengele, Terance Mann and its 2020 first-round pick, sources tell Jovan Buha of The Athletic (Twitter link). Harkless’ $11MM contract would be needed to help match Morris’ $15MM salary.
There has been progress in talks since this morning, according to Ian Begley of SNY.tv (Twitter link). However, it doesn’t appear the Clippers are willing to part with Landry Shamet, whom the Knicks would like to add.
The Lakers, who were also interested in Morris, have decided not to make Kyle Kuzma available, Charania reports (Twitter link). The Knicks aren’t willing to send Morris to the Lakers without Kuzma involved, according to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne (Twitter link).
Clippers will get him if a first is on the table. Doubt lakers trade kuzma unless they get dsj or knox as well as morris who is expiring.

Who does it make zero sense all thats been discussed has been morris for kuzma which is terrible for lakers. If the trade were expanded id involve kuzma for younger assets.
That’s an overpay just for Morris. I understand going all-in, but jeez.
Then again, the fit is good with the Clippers. I just feel like they could get away with just the pick, or the pick and one of Mann/Kabengele.
The pick is the trade. Mann and Kabengale are warm bodies.
Why do you think that? Harkless is on expiring contract, the other two guys are nobodies. The deal is essentially Morris for late first round pick.

Why do you think they are nobodies? I understand that their value is depressed due to being on the Clippers, but they aren’t “nobodies”.
Kabengele was a late first-round pick that had some nice momentum going into the draft and he has great bloodlines. Mann was only a second-round pick but has shown nice flashes for someone taken in that range.
If the Knicks get these two guys plus a late-first I think it’s more than a solid return.

Morris is only putting up those numbers on a bad team. On a contender like the Clippers he’s back to 10-12 at best. Still would be a good deal for both teams.

I’m not a big Kuzma guy and even I think he’s worth more than a half-year of Morris.

The Lakers approached the Knicks about exploring a Kuzma trade that would net them Morris. Figure it out; it’s not that difficult.
