There’s a growing belief in the Warriors‘ organization that Steve Kerr is seriously considering a new agreement to remain the team’s head coach, according to Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area.

No decision was reached as Kerr met with controlling owner Joe Lacob and general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. for two hours on Monday. However, Poole cites several signs that Kerr is leaning toward keeping his current job.
Multiple league sources tell Poole that Kerr discussed the future as well as the just-completed season when he met with players and staff members following the team’s elimination from the play-in tournament. Those discussions led to optimism that he’ll be back on the bench next season.
“From what I understand, (Kerr) in those meetings didn’t sound like someone who didn’t plan on coaching next season,” one of Poole’s sources said.
“I think it’s more like 50-50 that he comes back,” another league source told Poole on Wednesday. “When the season ended, I would have said it was at least 60-40 that he’d leave.”
Poole indicated last week that Kerr was leaning toward stepping down, but the situation appears to have changed since then. Poole points toward “increasing belief in recent days” that the longer negotiations continue without a resolution, the more likely Kerr is to stay.
Talks are still ongoing with Lacob and Dunleavy to figure out what a return might look like. Poole states that the factors that will determine Kerr’s final decision include roster construction, management’s plans for the offseason, and a compromise on Kerr’s outspokenness on social and political issues. Poole describes Kerr as “uneasy with suppression” of his public statements.
Poole adds that the front office wants Kerr to become more flexible with his coaching tactics, particularly involving younger players, while insisting on more accountability from everyone, including franchise legends Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
Poole states that money won’t be a major factor in whether Kerr returns, with sources telling him that this isn’t a negotiating tactic for a higher salary. Poole emphasizes that “professional and personal principles” will ultimately guide Kerr’s decision, and that all the parties involved will have to be aligned before an agreement is reached.

NOOoooooooooooo ……. Ooohhh reeeealllly

Draft Lendeborg or bust ……..😵💫😵💫
They better not trade away that draft pick with such a deep draft this year. Kerr comes back he better accept the fact they need athletic players not old injured players.
I been reading the Warriors are looking at guards. Brown and Burries might be there. Two good size guards that are playmakers and can score. Burries a good shooter. Both fit the system. But are 19 yrs old. Going to take yrs for them. Imo it’s a mistake passing on Lendeborg. If he’s gone. Well ??
They have a 2nd round pick so somebody falls and that is where they can find a project to work with.
Plenty of Bigs in 2nd rd. There will be a rim protector there. Or someone could fall like you said.
Thing about Kerr he only looks for playmakers and shooters.
Next year’s draft is more loaded than this one. I would keep next years pick but trade the rest for Giannis and Murphy III.
BOOOOOOOO
Just make a decision already…
$$
Ownership wants a one year deal for one more run. Kerr wants to be compensated for that kind of an arrangement.
Gotta get this roster fixed ! Asap. These projects and 2nd round youngsters ain’t gonna do it !
This is how the league wants to create parity.
If you have two or three guys on your roster making $40-$60 million each, you’ll be handicapped when making decisions to fill out the rest of your roster.
The goal of the league is 2 superstars per team, 2 really good players, plus a bunch of minimum wage guys with perhaps another good player or two sprinkled in if you are creative enough and can find a couple of guys who don’t mind being underpaid.
Accept Podz player option
Resign Post, Santos and Cryer
Draft a ready to play. 22 year old or older. Yaxel Lendeborg
Sign a veteran SG and C
McCollum, Vučević or Porzingus at a much cheaper price or Andre Drummond or Kelly Olynyk at C
Beg McCollum and a C to sign
Payton, Spencer, Nate Williams, Seth Curry, Leanons, idk
Sign Kerr for one year or give Curry a chance with a new coach for a year but who?
No waiving anyone next season
Luke207 I love reading your comments. You’re very informed and you know the game of basketball !!
Would you mind if I make some comments regarding your assertions here?
Accept Podz player option *** Ok
Resign Post, Santos and Cryer *** 1) yes, 2) already did, and 3) no, Cryer is not a rotation player on a playoff team.
Draft a ready to play. 22 year old or older. Yaxel Lendeborg *** NOOOOO !!!! Warriors don’t need a small “power” forward who plays on the wing, but is too slow to guard anyone out there in the NBA. Even though he’s a better shooter by a longshot, he’s too redundant with Graymond but without the defense.
Sign a veteran SG and C *** YES !!
McCollum, Vučević or Porzingus at a much cheaper price *** 1) no, too much $$, 2) NOOO !!!, 3) and KP will be overpaid by another team.
or Andre Drummond or Kelly Olynyk at C *** no and NO.
Beg McCollum and a C to sign *** ok
Payton, Spencer, Nate Williams, Seth Curry, Leanons, idk *** all gone except possibly keep Payton for minimum.
Sign Kerr for one year *** YES !!!
or give Curry a chance with a new coach for a year but who? *** good question
No waiving anyone next season *** ?
I appreciate you. Thank you for replying to all my suggested to improve a team.
I would have Cryer at the end of the bench as a scoring punch but yeah there are much better options out there.
You are right about Yaxel, and I’m always talking about undersized players lol. Yeah not a good choice. Maybe a PG or the best available player. Best available PG. Who would you draft? Philon? Mara? Stirtz?
Cj McCollum would be perfect next to Curry if McCollum signed a mid level contract. CJ might do it. A veteran C would be good but the lack of good C’s is a problem. The options I gave for C’s are the only ones unless you can think of a good C option. Vučević and a shot blocking backup C would be perfect.
I was thinking Nash would be a good choice if not Kerr. A good redemption story for him.
I think waiving Toohey was a dirty move. Draft the guy, he pleads he wants to come to the USA, tries hard, makes the team on a two contract, never plays one nba minute and is waived at the beginning of the year for no reason. Just a pointless situation
Excellent !!!
Steve Nash or Steve Kerr?
Steve Nash quit after 2 years.
Steve Kerr has 4 championships in just over a decade.
I WANT IGUODALA!!!
The NBA is most likely going to give them the first pick in draft so they can keep pushing every drop out of Curry since they might not be able to do the LeBron dance much longer.
Nope. Warriors had their run. Time for someone else to get a shot.
Perhaps things would be different if Curry was 33 and the league could see a 5 year ratings bonanza. But he’s 38 going on 39.
As far as the league is concerned, this ship is out to sea after this coming season. No lotto help coming anytime soon.
Also – that’s just not how it works.
These are the exact problems with Kerr as a coach the last 7 years. So if he actually corrects these things he could be a tremendous coach.
The real questions are whether he is capable of changing these things, and whether anyone should believe he will. Certainly this is not the first time these criticisms have been brought to his attention. And yet he hasn’t changed so far…
Umm…I don’t think he had a whole lot of say in the personell before. This would be a change.
I think its the opposite. BM did whatever Kerr wanted but now MDJ is in charge. So we will see. MDJ said he doesn’t want to trade draft picks. So if they do trade picks its because of Kerr.
BM was working under Jerry West. Signing Durant wasn’t Kerr’s idea.
that is all you got. Durant was a no brainer signing every GM in the NBA would have signed him.
Kerr has a system his own really. Why would you think he’s not involved in the talent search. How long have you been a basketball fan. There isn’t a team sport in the WORLD. Where the coach isn’t involved in the talent search for team. Most times they are the last word really. You need an update or reboot lol.
You are confused again Winnebago boy. I never said wasn’t involved. Kerr hasn’t been the final word. History shows that. There are lots of examples of it. Why do you think that is one of the things they are discussing about his possible return?
Kerr has a lot to say in personel. If they wanted to rebuild do you think he would want to come back? Not likely. its why i don’t mind Kerr leaving because they should rebuild now through teh draft or trade away draft picks and cause a 5 years of a bad warrior team.
Nobody knows how Kerr feels about a rebuild.
You have been saying he isn’t responsible for draft picks for years. For years littlegiant.
We all know who you are by now. You exposed yourself long ago with your posts. Changing it up whenever convenient. We understand littlegiant.
“Don’t get bitter, just get better.”
I said. He doesn’t make the final decisions on personell. It burned him out in Phoenix. Jerry did that when came to GS. Myers pursued Durant. In fact, he went around Kerr. Dunleavy pursued George, Markkanen and Butler. Kerr didn’t know Santos was going to sign an extension. None of that sounds like someone who is in charge of things.
He definitely had a lot of say in using the personnel stupidly though. Like wasting years of Kuminga just for him to immediately be good somewhere else.
Kuminga is playing like he did at GS.
Yes but without a bunch of days where the box score says DNP-Steve Kerr
At GS, he wanted to start. He has accepted coming off the bench in Atlanta.
He hasn’t accepted anything. He is getting consistent mins. Cause Hawks want a good look. He came in banged up. He’s looking good right now. Keep watching like rest of Warriors.
If Curry returns, so will Steve Kerr. It all makes sense.
Curry is still under contract, Kerr is not.
It probably just dawned on him that he’d have to spend his days at home with his wife… the whole day… week by week… month by month… year by year.
Maybe, hanging out with the boys at the club instead ain’t such a bad idea after all.
I just don’t want to see the warriors get older and throw away draft picks to bring in old injured players. Time for the warriors to get athletic and younger or its another year like last year hoping the medical staff can get the team to the playoffs.
Not yet arc. We’re running it back one more season and then the next year after that is the rebuild.
But I agree with you. I don’t think the Warriors will be dumb and trade 4 draft picks for a guy or two. But I do think they’ll offer up this year plus another one.
they should trade no draft picks. they have a little wiggle room and can sign a player with a back end rising cost since after this year the payroll will open up a huge amount.
GaryRedSoxxWarriors — Doesn’t bother to research players. Or even watch their videos. This Wagoneer prefers lying to help his take. Lendeborg is 6’10” in shoes. His long wingspan helps him play bigger. He is one of best rebounders when he got to Michigan. And is a 2way player. Who played on the wing so Johnson could start. Do played out of position. Yes how you know that right. His offense is just coming around now. He was always a defender and rebounder.
You are so far off it’s shameful. Plenty of talent professionals expect the Warriors to select him. I just happen to be ahead of the curve. This isn’t about me. It’s about him. He can really help next yr. Try reading his history and scouting reports. Takes like 20 mins.
———————————/-
Elite Versatility: At 6’9″ with a 7’4″ wingspan, he can guard multiple positions, rebound effectively, and facilitate from the high post.
Basketball IQ: Known for his “point-forward” vision and ability to impact the game withoutneeding to be the primary scorer.
Proven Production: A consistent performer who averaged roughly 14.6–17.7 points and 7 rebounds per game while shooting around 35% from three-point range.
Winning Mentality: His ability to scale his game from mid-major (UAB) to high-major (Michigan) and perform in the NCAA tournament has silenced many skeptics.
Its so easy to get informed about a draft pick. Why would you post LIES.

Something we agree on Al. He is the best option if the warriors want to go for it next year in teh draft. He is NBA ready. His injury in the finals would have benched most players but he went out there and still played well. i would be happy if the warriors drafted him.
He’s high IQ. And definitely a PF with size. Dra would be a good mentor. You know his offense is still getting better. He was a late bloomer. You should read up on him. I know Warriors are about right now. There isn’t a better pick out there. Except Boozer. He is as big as Al and more athletic. Strong enough to adjust to NBA right away. I am thinking of what Warriors need most.
Thats not a player who will be good in 3-5 yrs. Go see Kuminga saga.
There are a few good prospects that should be available at their pick up he is the only one that is close to NBA ready. It just depends on what teh warriors want a NBA ready PF or a project PF with more upside. Why i would not trade the draft pick for any reason.
But thats the point arc. Either you are all in on Curyy and next yr. Or you are not. They whiffed on Raynaud. Burries is a shooter who fits their system. And is a solid prospect. But he can’t win next yr or two. And trying to make him might damage him. Like they did JK. There are good prospects out there. NONE are ready like Yaxel is. This is only reason why I pick him.
If Warriors were looking for best talent and not worried about next yr. Then Brown, Ament, Burries could be pick. Or even trade back for two players. Lendeborg could go to Mavs or Bucks. He’s not getting by OKC.
That is my point if they take back Kerr next year they must go for lendeborg with the pick. If they don’t have kerr back they will go with somebody else
Al coming with real analysis, love to see it. Gary? Never does this.
Gary is a hater. Not a true fan.
I told you long ago Kerr would go for a guard right. Imo he wants one. Why I say sign Simons. Draft Lendeborg.
I think Kerr won’t shut up. He’s proven to be a courageous man with a platform who knows it’s incumbent on him at this unique time in history to shine a light on the evil happening in America.
