Grizzlies To Acquire No. 30 Pick, Draft Desmond Bane

UPDATE: This trade was folded into a larger three-team deal and is now official.

The Grizzlies have agreed to acquire the No. 30 pick from the Celtics, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski (Twitter links). Memphis will use the selection to draft TCU shooting guard Desmond Bane, Woj adds.

In exchange for that No. 30 pick, Boston will receive two future second-round picks from the Grizzlies, tweets Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe.

The Celtics had three first-round selections but didn’t want to add that many rookies to a team with championship aspirations. They will apparently retain their first two picks — Vanderbilt’s Aaron Nesmith (No. 14) and Oregon’s Payton Pritchard (No. 26).

Bane, 22, is viewed as one of the draft’s best shooters and could compete for a rotation spot as a rookie. He improved his draft stock with strong workouts and interviews, according to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony.

A four-year college player, Bane averaged 16.6 PPG, 6.4 RPG and 3.9 APG as a senior.

Bostons a joke right now they need to fire Danny before Tatum decide or realizes he won’t win a title with idiots running this team

They have already won an NBA-best 17 titles, so it’s not like they haven’t won their share over the years. Give someone else a chance.

That has to be the dumbest thing anyone could say ya the franchise has won 17 but these players haven’t won a thing so try again

Boston has won 18 and I would have liked to seen Oturu at 30 too.

LAL & also BOS are top with 17, difference is LAL have been to 10 more finals than BOS, but still both at 17, although soon enough the LAL will get to those 18 with LBJ & AD there!

Perhaps you weren’t paying attention in 2008, when a Danny Ainge lead front office put up another banner in the garden.

You want the Celtics to fire Danny Ainge, over trading away a PG, when we drafted two others in the same draft. Why? I understand that you think Tatum should leave because you think he won’t win a championship in Boston. With the right pieces we could. Just to remind you, Ainge has brought in pieces like Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward (pre-injury), Kemba Walker. And he’s drafted some amazing players: Tatum, Smart, and Brown. Not to burst your idiotic thought bubble, but you should never fire a GM over a trade revolving a late first round drafted PG, when we drafted two other guards in the same draft.
