The NBA and NBPA announced today in a press release that out of the 264 players tested for COVID-19 since June 2, none returned a new positive confirmed test.
This marks the third straight week that the league’s testing protocols have found no positive tests. Only two players have tested positive since May 5, a welcome development as the NBA attempts to conduct its post-season with as few COVID-related interruptions as possible.
The league has been extremely careful in its attempts to limit the spread of COVID from players and coaches, and with the draft process ramping up and MGM Resort Summer League establishing its schedule, their success so far in the playoffs is an encouraging sign for this off-season and the 2021/2022 season to come.
Seeing as how anyone who wants to be vaccinated can be, there is no reason to keep testing. If you get the virus at this point, it’s your own fault.
The vaccine doesn’t keep you from getting COVID. The vaccine companies don’t make that claim. Yes, I am vaccinated.
I’m aware, as I too am vaccinated, along with everyone else in this country who wants to be. It does however greatly reduce your chances of getting it, and if you do your chances of getting sick are almost nonexistent. There is zero reason to keep testing. Anyone who gets sick at this point has nobody to blame but themselves. If a player happens to get a break through case, so be it. Hopefully the rest of the locker room was also responsible enough to get vaccinated and the infected player stays asymptomatic and everyone goes on with their lives. Time to stop jumping through hoops over a virus that over 99% of unvaccinated people survive, that we have a vaccine for that is free and available to everyone in the United States.
Next year new rules presumably.
Nobody ever really improved the basic hospital mask. This despite that most hospital workers do not usually wear them outside of surgery, but many millions have had to wear them all day.
Seems like a great market to move into with something better. I have a feeling masks are going to be with us for longer… I suspect some like the disguizing effect…
