The Warriors rejected a trade proposal from the Sixers that would’ve sent Ben Simmons to Golden State for Andrew Wiggins, James Wiseman, the No. 7 and No. 14 picks in the draft, plus two future first-round picks, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer writes.
Golden State, who Pompey notes “basically assumed the Sixers’ offer as a joke,” is known to be open to discussing trades ahead of Thursday’s draft, but likely not for the price detailed above.
Pompey also confirmed a report from The Ringer that mentioned Philadelphia asked for four first-round picks, three first-round pick swaps, and a young player from the Spurs in exchange for Simmons. A league executive was cited in Pompey’s report calling the Sixers’ offers “totally outlandish” to this point.
Simmons, 25, is known for being one of the league’s top defenders and passers, but his shooting and half-court creation inconsistencies are well-documented. As of now, he and his camp remain “in step” with a potential trade during the offseason, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski (Twitter link).

Well stated, sir. (Big Gargamel….) I work in sales, and the foundation of any deal is a sense of being reasonable and of relatively painless negotiating. If one gets a reputation for smooth and fair deals, the offers come to you. I think Morey is off the path on this one. It is as if he is trying to create a bidding war that simply does not exist.
Yeah but you don’t ask for a fleet of Lincolns when you are trading in a Toyota. Simmons is good, but he is not elite, and more importantly he ended the year very badly so it kind of killed his rep. 4 1st rounders, last year’s #2 pick plus another solid, albeit overpaid, NBA player is not high, it’s not even on the same planet.

I like the precedence it sets. GSW are aiming as high as they can if teams are coming for that package. Reality: remove Wiseman from it, and I think its one where they hold the line on a whole lot more players, including Simmons.
I do think from the response, Wiseman is almost completely off the table. I can’t think of anyone out there they’d actually move him for, outside of Cade.
Isn’t this just the same package that was reportedly offered for Siakam a couple weeks ago??? How can it be a joke for a multiple AS with undeniable defensive skills who would fit GSW much better. I remember hearing towards the end of the season that Simmons created more open 3pt shots than any other player in the league. Sounds like a much better fit IMO.

I think you’re right because he’s asking for way too much so teams are moving on and making deals elsewhere. Morey will be left out in the cold with nothing to show for today. Everyone will have moved on and made other trades.
Think of it like this…the warriors are stretching the truth so other teams stay away from the sixers “laughable ask” and when the time comes down to the last minute, the warriors offer their final offer and the sixers have little choice but to either take it or leave it. Simmons fits better there than Wiggins if Klay comes back healthy. And Simmons is not elite? Maybe not shooting the ball, but don’t let this one playoff flop fool you. Elite defense. Elite athleticism. Elite passing. He can score 30 without shooting. He needs a good system and to be better without the ball in his hands. Lakers or GSW are perfect for him.

As with the Raps and Spurs, I’d like to know who initiated the discussions. I really doubt Morey initiated a discussion in order to make that offer. I doubt he’s at the point of initiating any Simmons discussions. But I can’t say for sure. But if GSW got such a call, and they want to tell everyone about how outrageous the Philly offer was, then why not mention that they called you. Certainly makes Philly seem more obnoxious than the details of the offer alone. But of course it would have to be true.
