With the odds of a Ben Simmons trade seemingly increasing, Jason Dumas of Bleacher Report (Twitter link) hears from a source that there’s a “high chance” fellow Sixers guard Tyrese Maxey will be included in any deal involving Simmons.
As Dumas explains, both Simmons and Maxey are represented by Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group. Dumas suggests that Paul would prefer to have both of his clients out of Philadelphia.

In a separate tweet, Dumas says that some Philadelphia-based organizations were interested in partnering with Maxey on community events, but were told to cancel those plans, since Paul doesn’t want the 2020 first-round pick to establish substantial roots in a city he may soon leave.
The 21st overall pick in the 2020 draft, Maxey showed promise in his rookie year, averaging 8.0 PPG and 2.0 APG on 46.2% shooting in 61 games (15.3 MPG) for the 76ers. He’s on an affordable rookie contract for three more years and Philadelphia was reportedly reluctant to include him in packages for James Harden in January and Kyle Lowry in March, so he certainly wouldn’t be treated as a throw-in in any Simmons trade.
While Simmons appears likely to be moved at some point in the coming days, weeks, or months, I’m not quite as convinced that Maxey will join him. Philadelphia’s point guard depth already figures to take a hit if Simmons is dealt, so the team won’t give away another of its top options at the position just to appease Paul. The 76ers may consider trading Maxey, but the decision will ultimately come down to the quality of the return and the club’s ability to avoid creating a hole on its depth chart.

I’m an agent in the entertainment field. Please trust me that we do what the client directs us to do. If Paul is making a nickle then Simmons is enjoying 95 cents as he should. You make it seem as if they dictate to the client. We don’t.

Unless the trade is for Lillard, Maxey (or Thybulle for that matter) will not be included in any deal. In fact, all the deals that have been rumored wouldn’t be deserving of any other players than BS.

If he feels like his player is going to be traded he’s actually being considerate to the charity organization and giving them time to set up contingency plans. Yeezus. I understand your not familiar with how it works. Local charities don’t have money to pay for travel expense so im sure they are planned during the season when teams are in their hometown. Paul is giving them a heads up that his client is likely to be traded and if it’s in season, won’t be able to fly into town and honor his commitments If he is traded he can’t leave his team to honor those charitable commitments.
Why does Paul illicit so much hate? He’s doing what his client instructs him to do. If either Simmons or Maxey are traded he doesn’t earn a dollar more. Instead he’s burning energy and relationship with the Sixers to satisfy Simmons requests. He still has to deal with Morey down the road. I promise you. He’s not happy about this situation. Does not add to his bottom line but consumes a lot of his time, energy and potentially damages relationships.

Well,I guess it’s time for a redo on the process.I was hoping he’d come back,get 20 games in,and get that Atlanta series out of people’s minds.
But if they’re gonna have to trade him without rebuilding his value a little bit first,I think they should try to get Tobias included in any deal.Embiid has proven to be a legit stud.Harris is a decent 3rd option,and his play fits with or without Simmons,but they still need a 1a or 1b to really compete for titles.They can’t wait to clear the books,since Embiids super max would kick in before Harris is off the books.
Criticize Simmons lack of development on his shot all ya want,it’s legit criticism,but it’s still the 6ers that failed the process.Part of the reasoning for this process was to convince stars to come to Philly.The star that we needed and traded for was Butler,and he wasn’t convinced to stay.And now 1 of the 2 stars we drafted wants out.And our roster construction was constantly being constructed,it never really reached a point to where we had a legit strong top 8 or 9.
It’s time to find out if Morey was worth the hype.

Not a good look to try and tell a contender what to do with their players. Don’t like him don’t like Morey. They were meant for each other. Maxey is not prime time to me. He ca be a solid rotation guy. Even a sixth man.
Philly did make an obvious effort to accumulate guard depth, and they drafted a guy somewhat similar to Maxey, so I could see this happening, but I still find it hard to believe they’re going to really trade Simmons at all. They have him for 4 years. There is no real reason to move him. I dont believe his stance, and if he really has a problem, I bet it would be resolved by firing Doc Rivers, who should have never been hired in the first place, should have been fired after the playoffs, and especially if ots between him and Simmons, should be fired
The problem in today’s NBA is player/agent entitlement. If Morey sits him out for any length of time, the players union would be in a up roar and the return in his asset would decrease substantially. Unfortunately by Doc and Morey throwing Ben under the bus after a terrible series
A playoff team will be very hesitant to bring in a player that could upset their chemistry so the best options are teams like the Cavs, Kings, Wolves…
