As had been widely anticipated, combo guard Patrick Beverley has been waived by the Magic, the team announced in a press release (Twitter link).
The 6’1″ Beverley will become a free agent once he clears waivers. He was sent to the Magic by the Lakers as part of a four-team trade that netted Los Angeles two second-round draft picks, along with 3-and-D reserve big man Mo Bamba.
In 45 games for the Lakers, all starts, the 34-year-old posted averages of 6.4 PPG on .402/.348/.780, plus 3.1 RPG, 2.6 APG and 0.9 SPG.
Beverley has emerged as a rumored buyout market target of the Clippers, after the team traded veteran point guards Reggie Jackson and John Wall at the deadline. That would mark his second go-round with L.A., He spent four seasons with the Clippers, from 2017-21, and was named to the league’s All-Defensive Second Team in 2020.
Wonder where he will end up. Timberwolves you would hope but they are one lost organization.

It will be interesting to see if Dlo and Bamba can stay on the court in the playoffs… Neither have proved they belong in the NBA playoffs yet…
If bamba doesn’t flourish this year, his ceiling might have been reached and going to the Lakers doesn’t help, I have to disagree about d lo though, he did his thing while he was on the nets …became an all star, like literally

Connelly has been awful so far for the Wolves… Trading Beverly last summer hurt the team culture and it’s a shame Connelly probably won’t bring him back… will the Wolves even be in the play-in tourney!

But NBA Gm’s/Scouts/ Directors disagree on their value relative to fans especially with the salaries they (did) demand
Watching him with the Lakers this year he’s a net negative if your crusin him out more than 15 mins a game just to be a pest to an opposing player for awhile….and he was just traded for peanuts if you dont trust my untrained eye
He fits like a glove for the Clippers, he’s not ball dominant, will let Kawhi and PG do their thing… He’ll be asked to play defense and hit occasional threes
