NOVEMBER 11, 9:15pm: Sixers wing Kelly Oubre is receiving treatment at a Philadelphia-area hospital after being struck by a vehicle tonight while walking near his residence in the Center City area, tweets ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Oubre is listed in stable condition.
Oubre is expected to miss “significant time” because of his injuries, but they aren’t believed to be season-ending, sources tell Wojnarowski (Twitter link). President of basketball operations Daryl Morey and other team officials are at the hospital with Oubre, he adds.
The 27-year-old signed with Philadelphia in late September after exploring his options in free agency all summer. It’s a one-year-deal worth $2.89MM, so he’ll become a free agent again in July.
Oubre has been a huge bargain so far, averaging 16.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while shooting 50% from the field and 37.8% from three-point range.
He moved into the starting lineup after James Harden and P.J. Tucker were traded and has been a starter for the past five games.
That’s horrible. Hopefully he’s feeling better soon.

Damn. Well at least they released him quickly, he has been playing well. He was pretty much left in FA so he needs this season to continue. The dumbass driver either meant to or on phone distracted. A lot of bad drivers out there.

Really tough break for Oubre. The pitfalls of being on a veteran minimum deal to re-establish your value.
Oubre was not only playing well, but was doing it on both ends. He was also doing it for a team that believes it is a title contender. I still think Philly takes care of him. He was looking like an excellent fit with Embiid, and definitely upgraded Philly over Harden.
Taurean Prince, Gabe Vincent and Cam Reddish, the heart of Lakers free agent class of 2023. They could offer all three to Philly for Kelly Oubre on his vet minimum deal, but would get hung up on.
He has been terrific and lucky he only has broken ribs
Broken ribs are no fun, my uncle broke a few years ago in a Charity Bicycle Ride and he had to sleep in a recliner for like a full month, maybe longer, until he healed up

K9 has been balling pretty good to start the year. Hope he recovers quickly and is able to hit his stride. He was on his way to building a good contract signing next year. Hopefully this does not set him back too much.
