The Warriors have fielded player-for-player offers for forward Andrew Wiggins, sources told Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
Though Wiggins is the Warriors player most likely to be moved before next month’s trade deadline, there hasn’t been an offer that has enticed them enough to make a deal. It’s key to note that they wouldn’t necessarily need to attach a draft pick to shed his contract, according to Slater. Wiggins is in the first season of a four-year, $109MM extension.
Golden State could go through the deadline without making a significant deal, despite its disappointing record. The internal expectations of making that kind of move have steadily decreased over the last month, Slater hears.
The Warriors remain in the buyers column, but they are reluctant to part with valuable pieces and don’t own their first-rounder this year. They are seeking a strong second option to pair with Stephen Curry but probably lack the assets to get that type of player.
They had exploratory conversations with the Raptors regarding Pascal Siakam before he was traded to Indiana. However, the Warriors’ most valued trade chip — Jonathan Kuminga — wouldn’t have been an ideal fit next to Raptors franchise player Scottie Barnes since their skill sets overlap.

Coach Tyronn Lue is an assistant on the USA coaching staff and he’d like to see at least one of them wind up on the 12-man roster. “Hopefully, it works out,” Lue said.
- Suns star Kevin Durant says he’s looking forward to returning to Brooklyn for the first time since last season’s trade. Phoenix visits the Nets on Wedneday. “I’m excited,” Durant said. “It’s always fun playing in Brooklyn, it’s always fun playing in New York. Might as well keep Wiggins if it means you must have to attach a draft pick or player to the trade. Wiggins might be easier to trade in the off season when teams are needing payroll to open up.
CP3, GP2, and Moody will definitely be a boost when they come back. Next few games will be critical and it will dictate whether Warriors will sell.
Too many people are blaming Wiggins when he is not the problem for the team.
What an absolutely hilarious take
People talk about how good of a coach Udoka is. But there is no excuse for losing to this/that Warriors team, C’s blew a golden opportunity. Wiggins cashed in big time and now Dubs are stuck with him, he has no positive trade value.
They’re not the same as they were two years ago. The better team at the time won.
He played very well that season, playofs AND Finals, effective and team oriented. Hey, he even was an (maybe too much, but at least, he Made merits to be a reserve) All-Star starter
I disagree with the Kuminga and Barnes take. They would be great next to one another (if Barnes is playing SF and Kuminga PF). Should of taken Paul and Kuminga for Siakam if I was Toronto. Just like Portland should of taken Lowry, Jovic, Jaimie J and picks for Lillard
I doubt GS offered that, I think that’s what TO wanted. It makes sense for GS to hold onto him as GS needs to flip the page with their core.
Yeah, really doubt Kuminga was ever on the table for Siakam. It would have been a decent move if they could guarantee he would re-sign, but since they couldn’t have, it’s not surprising they probably held back from the best deal they could offer.
Wiggins finally starting to look better – not sure if it’s enough to make a difference as far as either making a trade or keeping him.

Keep Wiggins, JK, CP3, etc., need Payton’s healthy return and run with this team as is this season other than perhaps adding a defensive big man for off the bench.
