Jimmy Butler is in the Warriors’ starting lineup in Game 4 of their series against the Rockets on Monday, the team’s PR department tweets.
The Athletic reported on Sunday that Butler was expected to play tonight after missing Game 3 due to a deep gluteal muscle contusion. Golden State managed to take a 2-1 lead in the series without Butler on Saturday. The Warriors forward was injured in the first half of Game 2 when he took a hard fall.
Coach Steve Kerr said during his pregame press conference that he was hopeful Butler would play and take on a usual workload, The Athletic’s Anthony Slater tweets.
“He’s not on a minutes restriction. It’ll just depend how he’s feeling,” Kerr said.
Butler was outstanding in the team’s 121-116 play-in victory over Memphis, racking up 38 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals. He also starred in Game 1 of the first-round series with 25 points, seven rebounds, six assists and five steals.
LET’S GO !!!!!
Stop wearing and get rid of the red trimmed unis. They’re bad luck imo.
Finally starting Buddy Hield instead of Moses Moody !!!! Great move in my opinion.
Moody is too casual out there.., at least Buddie sprints from one place to another. No jogging crap.
Turned out to be a phenomenal move. Huge game from Hield.
Another defensive game. Funny how defense plays such a big part in playoffs. 2way sport …..,
Houston’s shooting can’t stay this hot. The Dubs can’t stay this cold.
Looks like a WWF game out there so far in this first half…
That’s all it is now
Houston can’t go down 3-1. This is a gm 7 for them. Unfortunately most of them don’t know what that is. Udoka has to make an impact here. Green needs a wake up call ……
Wasted VanVleet’s best game ever too.
How long have you been watching hoops? Best game he’s ever played??? That’s the most absurd statement I’ve ever read here.
@ Booga
I’ve been watching since the 1960s.
FYI, it was his PLAYOFF high scoring game, 25 pts with 8-12 threes. (I wasn’t referring to far less meaningful reg season games).
It sure seemed like Fred was on fire last night.
He shot well in a previous game from 3 earlier in the series too. Everything he threw up was bottom of the net. Looks like he’s earning his money in this series.
He has a 54 point game on his resume, a 42, a whole bunch of 39 point games. Just saying, everyone is so hyperbolic in here. Best ever this, best ever that. He had an amazing game. But enough with the overreactions.
Nastiest and feistiest NBA game I’ve seen in a while.
Playoff basketball to the max, for sure!
Fun to watch as a neutral that hates both teams, lol
Fantastic game. Ended 1 am here in the east, my day is shot tomorrow… but it was worth it.
Kerr coached a helluva game.
@ GaryRSW
Brooks’ dirty plays actually help the Warriors.
I think you’re right. It looks chaotic from both sides when you watch it, but the Warriors nastiness is channeled and purposeful.
The Rockets have it also, but are not sure yet what to do with it and when to use it.
Brooks is an expert and he’s a master at this kind of stuff, but his teammates aren’t quite there yet.
Pretty fascinating to watch the cat and mouse game and this definitely is not over.
Very well said, Gary. The Rockets at times feed of that intensity and commotion Brooks brings. But sometimes they don’t. However, every time this series has gotten mucked up by Brooks, they’ve seemed to channel it well. It’s when it’s time to lock in that you def see the Rockets haven’t been here. Also having their supposed best scorer unable to break double digits 3 out of 4 games.
Brooks is such a psycho, but I think it’s purposeful.
In the early pregame warm-ups he’ll stand in the Warriors shooting half of the court and be a statue for minutes on end like he’s in some kind of religious ritual or meditating or something.
But he’s making himself known and trying to disrupt the Warriors pregame, so I guess there’s that.
Draymond out there pretending he’s in the WWE again…
Whats up with Green ..
You mean when he locked down Alpie Sengun to close the game?
Jalen …..
Or you could mean Jalen Green?
I think the Warriors went after him hard defensively.
There weren’t going to let him go off. He’s their one dynamic scoring threat, and by that I mean a guard or wing who can shoot it from 3 and also go to the hole.., and has The ability to go off for 40 at any time.
Alpie will get his 25 or so, but you don’t want JG to go off and get confidence for the rest of the series.
You shut that down right now and hope his youth gets the best of him. The next year or two that’ll go away and he’ll be a dangerous cat but right now you can Affect him mentally and he’ll disappear.
Great game. Draymond making winning plays when it counts. He and Jimmy have great chemistry.
He’s got Adams instead of Green in last mins. That says a lot. Bitched up
Draymond won that game for the boys. Well played sir.
He sure did boyo!!!!!!
Waaaarrrriiioooorrrsss!!
Great game!!!
Woohoo!!!! Graymond!!!! Age before beauty!
The game was only close because FVV went 8-12 from 3 and Curry went 2-8 from 3.
GSW should be ashamed for losing G2. Even without Jimmy they are so much a better team than any team with Dillon Brooks on it, it’s ridiculous. This should have been an easy 4-0 sweep. Kerr once again getting complicated when he needs to simplify and just let his 5 who are cooking, push the lead to 30+ before switching them out, unlike 10-15 points like he does now, which throws off the entire energy of the game and allows the opps back in. GSW need to push that lead til it’s too far to come back from. Kerr never does this, he’s too busy trying to fit in what feels like 800 rotations a game.
I hate games that feel like they added years to my life, tonight was one of those.
“I hate games that feel like they took years off my life, tonight was one of those” I meant, oops
You have a life? Who knew.
How many championships have you won? I think Kerr is doing just fine. I’m sure he reads your takes though and takes the criticism to heart. Keep on keeping on buddy. Guy.
I’m in your head like I was Draymond Green!
Ok man, glad you enjoyed the game. That’s pretty funny though. In my head? It’s a comments section on a little read website. I think I’ll be ok… don’t take this so seriously, friend. It’s not that important/
Cope more lil bro lol
Both teams have played well enough to win each game. Kerr has coached fine. The Warriors have the players that have been in those moments where it’s time to lock in. The Rockets don’t. If the rockets shoot average at the FT line they could be up 3-1.
“Both teams have played well enough to win each game”
Except the Rockets.
I know you’re super biased but even the post game TNT they discussed this exact team. If the Rockets simply make FTs they could easily have won a couple more games. You don’t need to take it as a slight to your precious Warriors. They’ve made the winning plays.
But the Warriors are fouling the poor FT guys on purpose, so its not so simple as “shoot better” its guys who never have shot better from FT.
Rockets can’t even use the age excuse at this point. You just can not win a series when shooting a terrible from the FT line as they have. Ranking 30th all season, you could see it coming. Floors me how bad they are. Had a legit opportunity to win this series. That’s how close playoffs can be.
FVV had a good gm. Unfortunately he’s not a game manager. And when he was out. Rockets had no one running team. FVV had 1 FT attempt the whole gm. Rockets were 19/31 FTs. Tge youth and inexperience was obvious. Warriors have three HOFers who have been thru everything. And fear nothing. This is on Udoka. He has to help his young talent. I was watching and thinking. Is Jalen Green hurt. Was he even in the game.
You shoot 61.3% FT. Your opponent shoots 90.9% FT. On the Road. That pretty much explains it all imo. Especially in a 109–106 game loss for Rockets.
Still tooooooooo young.
JimmyB ——
40 mins, 27 pts, 5 reb, 6 ast, FG 58.3%, 12/12 FT
FT 100%. Warriors as a team made 20 FTs. Jimmy had 12 of them……. I remember all the cry babies here who didn’t want Jimmy …. Best 2Way player of his generation ….. now you believe me.
At first I didn’t like it. But, I changed my mind within a day. Not to sound like degrading Wiggins. But, the Warriors went as far as they could with him. Butler is an upgrade. So what if has a little bit of an attitude, fight in a player is good.
I think you touched on something that few people notice. The Warriors shot and made the least amount of free throws, before Jimmy. That number skyrocketed. He also caused teams not double Curry.
