Anthony Edwards scored just 16 points in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals on Monday. However, the Timberwolves superstar believes he played the game the way it’s supposed to be played.
“I don’t look at it like I struggled, or (Julius Randle) struggled,” Edwards said. “They just, they had a good game plan, making us get off the ball. Especially for me, man. They were super in the gaps, I made the right play all night.”
Edwards only attempted 13 shots and made just one three-pointer.
“It’s an urge that I want to get the ball in the rim, put it up there,” Edwards said, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN. “But you don’t want to take bad shots and get your team out of rhythm. So I was just playing the game the right way, man.”
We have more from the Northwest Division:
- Randle took just seven shots and made only one. He was disappointed in himself that he wasn’t more assertive, he told Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic. “I’ve got to figure out a way to get myself in position to be more aggressive, rather than just standing, spectating or trying to crash the glass,” he said. “Or I can just find other little things to do.”
- The Jazz possess the No. 5 and 21 picks in the first round and pair of second-rounders in next month’s draft. Multiple league sources indicated to the Deseret News’ Sarah Todd that the front office is willing to hear offers and make deals on any of those draft picks. However, considering it’s been over a decade since Utah had a top-five selection, Todd believes it’s likely that the Jazz will retain the No. 5 pick.
- Zach Hicks (Penn State), Chris Manon (Vanderbilt), Wade Taylor IV (Texas A&M), Caleb Love (Arizona), Zack Austin (Pittsburgh) and Money Williams (Montana) worked out for the Trail Blazers on Tuesday, Sean Highkin of the Rose Garden Report tweets. That group is comprised of players trying to earn second-round consideration.
It’s the right way if you are winning the game, otherwise as the leader you have to find a way to get shots and make shots and win.
The kick outs were making their shots, but OKC was just red hot. They scored enough to win. Just didn’t get stops.
Can’t really fault the Wolves much. OKC just better this particular game, tough tough team.
Randle was focused on the live interview with big Perk and the gang minutes before the game. It looked like he was having fun. Didn’t think his focus was all that much on the game itself as it showed.
Ant needs to grow up a little bit. There are tons of x players with tons of talent that never won. Imagine him having KG’s outlook he would be unstoppable.
Wolves need to have more of an offensive threat inside as we all know that isn’t Goberts game. Naz is more of an offensive threat outside.
Imagine someone like Derek Lively or similar who could play both some D and be a lob threat. If Wolves overpay for the same team they still have the will retain the same flaws as the have. Big decisions this off-season will determine if they ever really have a shot at winning it all.
Can’t just keep hoping that everyone has the game of there lives as a plan for winning. The illusion that the glimpses you see of Wolves having great game is just that. They can’t do that consistently enough as they have shown all year.
When the gaps are blocked you don’t go through them you go over them or you shoot over them. The wolves don’t have the nightly shooting to shoot over them and clearly don’t have the offensive power near the basket nor enough point guard help to feed that offensive threat inside. If they don’t change that (will Rob Dillingham be ready next year, will Rudy Gobert trade his hands of stone for some that can catch a pass) then they will have same issue next year.
“Right way Edwards” with another 1-4 WCF.
His regression from last season’s WCF if all about the OKC defense.
Wolves cannot go anywhere with Edwards and Randle as their top 2 scorers. One guy doesn’t want to score and the other guy can’t.
Nah… AE will learn to stop making excuses and develop a killer instinct. Gobert is the problem- he can’t catch a pass so there’s no inside threat and he’s not rebounding enough. Rudy is the plug for this team.
Zack Austin a 6’4 shot blocking specialist.
Money Williams might be something
Caleb Love should have declared last season
For all the haters here who just can’t get enough. Unless you are a Pacer fan. You are just trolling. Thats the true mark of a genius ….. try learning
Knicks 15 man roster has 11 FIRST year players.
With only Mitch, Brunson, McBride, Hart having more than 2 yrs here. And only Mitch with 5 yrs here. I doubt any of you geniuses has ever bothered to understand what that means ……..
Knowledge is power.
