The Suns are “very close” to trading Kevin Durant, reports John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 (via Twitter).
Phoenix’s front office is in discussions with “multiple teams” to find a trade it likes, according to Gambadoro, who expects the deal to be completed on Sunday or Monday.
Trade talks involving Durant first started prior to the February deadline, with the 36-year-old star reportedly caught off guard at the time. The Suns have been working with two-time Finals MVP to find a deal this offseason, but are said to be underwhelmed by the offers they’ve received to this point, in part because Durant is reportedly only willing to sign an extension — he’s on an expiring $54.7MM contract — with three teams.
The Spurs, Rockets and Heat are on Durant’s list of preferred destinations, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the sharpshooting forward will end up on one of those teams, with Phoenix insisting it will find take the best offer for Durant. The Timberwolves, Raptors and Clippers are among the other teams said to be interested in the 15-time All-Star.
Durant appeared in 62 games during the 2024/25 season, averaging 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.2 blocks on .527/.430/.839 shooting in 36.5 minutes per contest. Despite having the highest payroll in NBA, the Suns went just 36-46, failing to even make the play-in tournament in the West.
If it doesn’t happen, John Gambadoro should be fired.
If they fired every sportswriter who got something wrong, there would be no more sportswriters.
If it does happen, you should stop posting here, but alas neither one of those will come to fruition.
This non stop talk about this nonsense has made me like the NBA a lot less. Hopefully its over today and KD has a new team to bring to the doorsteps of possibly making the play in and into the s**t show that comes with him.
If only all the NBA media got fired for reporting false stories or just making up rumors out of thin air!
Why why why are you so mad? Did you bet on a rumor and lose your life savings? Calm down Davey.
@Never Remember – are you going to go down this thread and reply this same thing to the dozens of other posters who posted the exact same type of comment I made? Or are you just singling me out because you are stalking and harassing?
You know you can stop looking at all the articles about it. That is a choice you can make.
For F***s sake how many of these repetitive nothingburger updates are we gonna get.
Seventeen I believe but you don’t actually have to read any of them if you get this mad. Sad.
The more your click on them and comment, the more likely they are written. It’s fairly straightforward. They get attention so they get written. Welcome to the algorithmic world of today.
My best Educational guess
Durant to Rockets
Waiting for 3rd and 4th teams to facilitate
Nets are likely to be 3rd team
4th team?
Just my speculation
Rockets apparently don’t want him and have no available salary to move to match. All their big salaries are attached to critical pieces.
So Miami or timberwolves?
It’s nba silly season. Gambino is a mouth piece the suns are using to drive speculation and I’m sure the suns are hoping that causes at least one team to panic and increase their offer
100%
So he has no details but says its close to happening. If it doesn’t happen does he make up some excuse? The local sport radio show in my area always pretend to know something but when a trade happens they act surprised.
I still think it’s a dark horse team, i.e. a GM who may be on the hot seat OR team that is ready to go into win-now mode with assets: i.e. Atlanta, Portland, or Chicago are teams that are more likely to overpay for him.
I am a Wolves fan, but I hope we don’t overpay for him. It’s possible that he left Minnesota out of his preferred destination list as “positioning” so Minnesota doesn’t give up too many assets to land him.
None of those teams are winning with Durant. Even if they got him for free.
He’s about to be 37 and has only played 70 plus games once in the past 6 seasons.
Unless a team is a top 4 in their league there is 0 reason for them to trade for Durant. Durant would not make a non-playoff team a contender over night.
I thought he would be a good fit for OKC since his salary would match with Hartenstein and Isaiah Joe and the thunder of course have draft capital
OKC is not trading Hatenstein he is too big of a playoff piece to trade him.
There’s less than zero percent chance that Portland trades FOR Durant. If they are involved then they’d be a 3rd or 4th team to help facilitate the trade.
Gambo has been wrong at every new story. Can’t believe this guy is highly thought of at all
Cant wait for KD not to be traded to the Warriors for Jimmy Butler!
Don’t feed the trolls.
Which trolls? Davey J and aristotle? LMAO
DJ of course
Wherever he ends up he’ll be there for a year and be traded again.
According to Mr. Webster, rumor:a widely held opinion having no known source…So, why are people getting upset about Durant rumors? This is after all a rumors site. You being here keeps it going.
Its like believing anything that is said on 95.7 teh game.
Well neither one of these posts aged well.
Same Gambo that said a few days ago Rockets were out of trade talks.
He probably still has no interest in going there, but you have to look at a team like Golden State being able to offer Kuminga, Moody, Post draft picks as a top offer
Kuminga wouldn’t be much to offer because his top amount is $12 million going out no matter how much Kuminga signs for. draymond Green would need to be added. So they do not get better but worse. There is no trade scenerio to make KD going to warriors that can happen.
Does it really matter where KD goes, because the people will say the Suns got hosed or the team getting KD got hosed. Just trade him already does it really matter where he goes, KD championship window is closed, unless he wants to be a hanger on to a team just to get a ring. KD is one dimensional offense only, not a great rebounder and definitely a slug on defense now.
Gambo was right!! Haha nice trade for both teams, I’d be happy if I was either fan base.
Guess he was right with ‘very close’.
Guess he was right!
