Appearing on SportsCenter (YouTube link), ESPN’s Shams Charania said Suns star Kevin Durant has no interest in joining the team that is rumored to be the most aggressive in pursuit of him.
“I’m told Durant has no desire to be in Minnesota with the Timberwolves,” Charania said. “So how does that shape how the Minnesota Timberwolves and other teams that could have interest, that are outside of his preferred list, decide how to move forward with these Durant discussions?”
In an NBA Today appearance that included Charania, Brian Windhorst and Marc J. Spears (YouTube link), Charania indicated the Suns have some interest in Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert. Windhorst anticipated that the Timberwolves’ trade offer for Durant could drop if they’re unsure about their ability to sign him to an extension. According to Spears, Durant had the Knicks at the top of his wish list but the Knicks weren’t interested in pursuing him, so the Rockets, Heat and Spurs became his fallback options.
The Suns obviously don’t need Durant’s permission to trade him to the Timberwolves, but mutual respect between Phoenix’s front office and the longtime All-Star could play a role in where he winds up. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald (Twitter link) speculates that Durant and his rep may need to strongly discourage a team such as Minnesota from trading for him in order for him to land at a preferred destination.
Windhorst also previously identified the Raptors and Clippers as teams that are “lurking” in the Durant trade saga.
As for the Spurs, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype names Jeremy Sochan, as well as Harrison Barnes and Keldon Johnson, as players who could be obtained on the trade market. Sochan, who averaged 11.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists this season, is eligible for a rookie scale extension this offseason. Throwing a 22-year-old player into the mix could sweeten the offer for Durant from San Antonio’s perspective.
I mean I can’t blame him for not wanting to live in Minnesota half the season or more.
Yeah the answer to two simple questions is somehow missed in all this, lol.
Does KD want to live in minny?
Would KD resign in minny?
Don’t bother trying to match salaries.
Not trading for him unless he resigns …… no team
He is not going to command so much of a return that teams will be turned off by him not signing an extension. A team like Minn will take a chance, they have no chance of signing a star in FA
Such a winning franchise too, so many titles hanging in their rafters…smh
There’s a ton of Lynx banners hanging from them.
Makes my point even more, good call, hahaha
Steve Kerr is the best coach in the league and got you all those banners.
Sorry that Curry and Draymond got thumped by such a winless team like the Wolves.
As many banners as Durant hung up in OKC.
I just went back and looked at all the rosters OKC had with KD and yeeesh, talk about a huge falloff after guy 4-5 almost every year. Surprising he got that far with Russ and scrubs tbh.
It’s a testament to how good prime KD was. Even Russell’s sheen came off after the Durant years.
“Sure” nothing says “sheen came off” quite like RW’s MVP season, right?
(In case it’s not obvious, “/s”)
You forgot Harden.
Or Brooklyn. Or Phoenix. Great shooter. Most overrated player of my lifetime
Yeah KD dont do below zero…
Suns still hopeful Kevin Durant might warm to Timberwolves possibility

Minny, warm, and KD? What could go wrong. KD going to the Wolves is one step closer to Edwards departing Minneapolis himself. Reports are like….you know, starts with A ends with holes. They’re everywhere, especially this time of year. Say reports are true, or atleast close. What do the wolves think will happen giving up Randle and Rudy for old KD when Ant and KD can’t get it done? Trade me please.
Randle is a negative asset and Gobert is the laughingstock of the NBA despite having his moments controlling one end of the floor. KD isn’t much worse.
Try all the want, the whole world knows the Wolves are sub-par franchise who will likely never win a title in this league, as they are cursed for having 2 chances to draft Curry and passed with both.
The Red Sox had the “Ruth curse”, the Wolves have the Steph curse. This is fact. You would be insane to want to play on that team if you were interested in winning.
“This is fact.” lol
Let the little kid dream that he coined a “Steph Curse”
Yeah thats why Minny won seies 4–1 …..
Marty had two accounts on HR ….
What kinda drugs you on Davey J??? We are concerned.
Don’t be, he just wants attention.
Curry in Minnesota would have never won a playoff series.
It’s Curry. He is bringing any team to an NBA title. The Warriors were dogcrud for almost like 40 years in a row before him. The Wolves are as irrelevant as the Dubs were before he graced us with his greatness. Stop trolling.
Curry didn’t win anything without Kerr.
They got a-rod, should counteract all curses.
Honestly this is good news. I really hope we don’t trade for him. I’d much rather we go after Tyus Jones from the Suns. We’d have to give up way too much for KD. I don’t want to give up our young guys, they have some serious potential. Go gut another franchise!
His dwindling list of teams is eventually going to cost the suns value in return if it comes down to 2 teams unless they get into a bidding war.
I think it’s going to come down to SA and TOR as the teams who can put together the best packages for KD. And it will come down to which team actually wants him more.
You wonder if KD will change his mind on a GSW trade if his other option is TOR/MIN?
Doubtful,he wants a chance at a ring .
No chance of that happening.
Foo might be correct for the very first time.
The fact you tally up foo’s responses says more about you than him. Do you keep a chart bro?
@GhostofThomasHamilton: Jackson Rubbit is another poster of the Davey J cloth who gets personal and insulting but will immediately mute you if you respond. He’s a clown. Can dish it but can’t take it.
Jackson offends Lil rct he go home to mommy?
Bro ? Foo and I go back. You on the other hand, remind me.
SA probably wants Giannis more and can get him.
Memphis now can offer JJJ and all those picks.
If my original trade idea of Jimmy for KD 1-1 that I have been saying for weeks on here happens I am going to be so annoying to you all, hahah
Still doubtful, Davey J. What do you think about Dubs pivoting to JJJ now?
Sign Kuminga – then him, Moody, Post (unfortunately), and two 1sts
for
JJJ, Scottie Pippen Jr, and two 2nds
Then sign JJJ to an extension (~40M per first couple of years, then incremental increases beginning in the post Steph/Dray/Jimmy year)
JJJ is not bad, I think Bam is an easier trade, but I’m starting to think GSW might flip Draymond because they are sick of his antics.
I don’t think where he wants to go is as relevant as it has been in other situations.
For one the team trading for him has his bird rights which means they can pay him more than anyone on the open market.
Two because of the limited amounts of teams with cap room unless KD takes a mid level extension the team trading for him will have the opportunity to do a sign and trade to direct him to his preferred team next year if he’s not willing to resign.
Three it’s an opportunity to get off a contract a team doesn’t want. The suns want a center and maybe Min says hey we’ve seen up close 3 years in a row Rudy limits us in the playoffs offensively but he’s great defensively for the regular season. Get off 3 years of an expensive Gobert deal that takes him into his mid 33,34, and 35 years of old seasons.
Four if any team that trades for him wins the Chip then it doesn’t matter if he’s willing to stay or not who cares at that point. If KD got Min over the hump to a Ring then nobody even remembers what they gave up.
Maybe I’m crazy and know it’s all just rumored but Toronto is reported to have offered Barrett, Quickly, and that they may be willing to give Poeltl. That’s a lot better than some of the other stuff being reported.
I believe the report from Jake Fischer was Barrett *or* Quickly and potentially Poeltl as a 2nd piece. This matches what I said at the beginning- RJB, Poeltl and I believe Agbaji as the 3rd player makes the $ work.
I would prefer that to any of the Spurs proposals I’ve heard.
Honestly, I would be fine with just one season of KD as long as the price is right. MN could possibly turn around next off season and trade KD in another sign and trade deal.
I feel bad for the team that gives KD 2-3 years extended on to his current contract.
It’s interesting that so many players think they are entitled to be able to dictate where they will play, when they are not a free agent!
That’s probably because many are able to dictate where they will play.
My guess is KD to the rockets with vanvleet and/or brooks heading back to phoenix because Houston has been pursuing him for over a year with the suns picks
Giannis goes to San Antonio and the heat make a surprising trade for trae young but lose Tyler herro
I hope KD goes to the mariners for Tellez Solano and Masterboni
I would install tellez as center because he would be burlier than that sengun over there
Maybe swap miles for Jp because that guy would be a better point guard than vanvleet and Jalen green
KD can’t hit curveballs balls
@sad
Giannis won’t be traded. Suns are finding out that KD’s market isn’t the haul they thought it would be, but the Rockets still make the most sense.
Trae Young a spo guy?
If Miami gets KD, the Suns need to make sure to get Bam and Herro. No Bam, no KD
You can’t be serious..
Who are you pairing the 37 yo KD with? Jaime Jaquez and Herro? Bam’s not going anywhere if the Heat have any brain cells
Send him to Utah or Washington.
I’d take Kevin Durant on the Celtics! He’d fit in fine. He’d fit anywhere. I don’t know why the Suns want to trade him. One of the all time greatest still going fine.
KD can refuse to resign …..
So Suns have to send him to a team he’s good with.
Although Minny can put together a good package for KD. They have the talent and picks. It’s going to be interesting which way Minny goes. Seems they still aren’t satisfied with Randle. Minny has solid picks this year. They can really add depth and talent. To a West Ginals team ….
Shame, I was hoping Suns would take trash can Randle.
> Minny can put together a good package for
> KD. They have the talent and picks.
Not so sure. Phoenix says they want “multiple” firsts and young players. That’s why Phoenix prefers Houston and San Antonio. Rudy and Randle are on the older side.

Spoken like a true genius.
You want to go left when I go right. And right when I go left. Yet you steal my ideas and think you can hide behind a mute ……
I have forgotten more ball than you will ever know.
Stop being a coward. Grow TFU .
Minny has two very nice picks this year. Plus they have future picks they can add. Randle has a expiring contract. Something Suns are craving. Although I foubt you understand Randles importance. KD at 37 is not bringing in a haul. From anyone. But Minny cause of AE who loves KD. Would probably overpay some. So they can make a serious offer …. But like I said and the article says. For a trade to work he’d have to agree to resigning.
And I agree with that. So let me end your whining ignorance .
KD is a 4. And can play next to Rudy …. You do get that right …..
Dillingham is a nice young talent, Donte has two years on his contract. Can even sign n trade Reid. Conley has an expiring contract. You obviously don’t know what this draft is about. So don’t come back here an act like a draft expert. Since you probably be stealing all my ideas …
How is that for you. Learning yet ?????
If you want I can tell you who Suns would draft. But expiring money is something that is big for Suns.
@KnickerbockerAl
What can you expect from aristotle. That kid is as worse as Davey J with his copium takes. aristotle like Davey J, does not know ball.
Hes mad at me cause I called him out on lying on Knicks. Now he trolls me
Only worse one is @chandlerbing. I’m convinced that dude likes his own comments and switches to an alt to like his comment a second time. Nothing but Knicks-hating nonsense and always immediately 2 upvotes.
Rct stand for ridiculous comments today?
But bing’s posts tend to reflect his ongoing battle with the English language, which at times can be humorous.
“Spears noted that Durant had the Knicks at the top of his wish list but the Knicks had no interest in him,”
I am being petty but this made me laugh. Maybe you can go to Brooklyn, KD.
KD would love the attention in NY now lol. It can’t get done unless a third team takes Towns. To be honest I don’t know what Knicks are thinking now with no coach. Need a coach first before any major move. I read Grizz were interested in OG before the Magic trade. I just Malone as coach ….
There are lots of rumors out there on KD — aristotle — but a knowledgeable fan looks at best offers and the reality of the situation. KD has to resign with the team. Its only way a trade gets done…. A chip should be best selling point right…
Knicks.
“K.D. wanted the New York Knicks. He wanted to go there. The Knicks have no interest in bringing him in, which probably makes Knicks nation probably quite interested in why not,” Spears said. “I think these three choices (the Heat, Rockets and Timberwolves) are by default. He definitely doesn’t want to go to Minnesota.”
So again if KD believes he has a legitimate chance at ring or two. Then even Minnesota would be ok imo. Shhh happens lol.

In fairness, KD was being courted by a NYK team that was 17-65, constructed by Mills/Perry and coached by Fizdale. Had he agreed to come, I, of course, would have been happy, but can’t say I would have admired his judgement.
Although, in fairness to the NYK now, KD is now a fossil. Nothing personal either way.
KD will end up running it up in Phoenix with Beal, Booker (and the next to be fired headcoach) to fight for a 2026 play in spot..
Celtics recieve: F Grant Williams, C Jock Landale, and G Josh Okogie
Rockets recieve: F Kevin Durant
Hornets receive: G Jalen Green and G Aaron Holiday
Suns receive: C Kristaps Porzingis, G Josh Green, F Tari Eason, and F Cam Whitmore
LMAO
In terms of basketball only, Gobert could work in Phoenix. I’ve always though of Rudy as being at his most useful in a team that is completely lacking defensive resistance, the team that is the easiest to score on. The team where the other 4 players just watch the game happen when opposition has the ball, or if they just have very little defensive talent and capacity, Austin Reaves types and such. Put Rudy in a team like that, and his protection around the rim and rebounding will make the team maybe slightly below average in defensive rating. Not great, but not awful either. And then let the other guys do their thing when they have the ball, shoot their jumpers etc.
When you start adding competent defenders and rebounders, Rudy becomes redundant. If you have a team full of physical gritty wings and guards whoa are pests and can rebound, Rudy should be the last player you want on your team. France already figured it out when he was almost unplayable for them. Minnesota figured it out when Rudy was mostly unplayable for them in the playoffs, apart from maybe 3 games. They had Jaden, Ant, Randle who could rebound and are useful in their own paint, which left very little place for Gobert to have any positive effect.
Now, do I think it’s a good idea to have a team like that, with Gobert and 4 poor defenders? Not really. But beggars can’t be choosers. Phoenix might as well try something like that. So I don’t hate it for Phoenix in terms of basketball fit, but it will probably not happen.
Funny how KD doesn’t want to go to the 2 teams that have expressed the most interest (Twolves and Raptors).
Next season starts in October…
David Stearn asked Shaquille if he wanted to play in a warmer place or a colder place.Shaq answered warmer and Orlando got the first pick.Durant seems to like warm weather and Texas and Florida have no state income taxes which is worth millions.
Copper Flagg would be in whitesville Utah if the draft were rigged :)
