For the first time in 53 years, New York has an NBA title to celebrate. The Knicks finished off a thrilling NBA Finals with a 94-90 win Saturday night in San Antonio.
Jalen Brunson was named Finals MVP, wrapping up the series with 45 points in Game 5. He was overwhelmed by the moment in a post-game interview on ABC, taking a long time to compose himself before calling it “everything I ever dreamed of.” (Twitter video link)
With a huge contingent of Knicks fans cheering them on after making the trip to San Antonio, Brunson called the championship “the reason I came to New York” as he accepted the MVP trophy.
Coach Mike Brown thanked owner James Dolan and team president Leon Rose before giving a shoutout to New York fans for their support. Sources tell NBA insider Chris Haynes that the Knicks plan to fly back to New York City tonight to continue their celebration (Twitter link).

1. The Spurs might be letting the wrong coach leave. This one doesn’t know who to play or when. He doesn’t know when to rest guys. If he gets fired, I wouldn’t put this series on my resume’.
2. Congrats to the Knicks who played with a lot of heart.
3. Adam Silver better be a lot more worried about the gambling and the officiating in Basketball than the tanking. It’s a way bigger issue.
4. Dylan Harper is the future of the Spurs and they need to move on from Fox. Harper is a way better player.
5. The officiating still blows. See 3.
6. Hockey is still more exciting in the Playoffs than Basketball.

2. Very True. Their roster lacks a true super elite guy, but it gets long when you start seeing “JB, OG, MB, KAT, JH, MR” those are 6 very good players. Not many teams have 6 Very Good players.

Landry Shamet playing on minimum contracts much of his career and now shining brightly as he is a huge reason New York is where they are tonight.
