Bradley Beal has officially signed with the Clippers, reports Law Murray of The Athletic (via Twitter). Beal cleared waivers at 4:00 pm Central time on Friday after having been officially waived by the Suns on Wednesday.
As previously reported, Beal’s deal with L.A. uses the remainder of the team’s mid-level exception. It’s worth $5,354,000 in year one, followed by a $5,621,700 player option for 2026/27.
“Players of this caliber are very rare, and they’re hard to come by,” Clippers coach Ty Lue said in a press release announcing the deal. “You can put him in so many different spots and he’ll find ways to score: out of pick-and-roll, coming off screens, catch-and-shoot. He can create his own or he can play off the ball. He’s a great cutter. He’s also a great playmaker who is going to make everybody else better. I’m excited he’s with us.”
In a conversation with Mark Medina of Sportskeeda, Beal’s agent Mark Bartelstein said, “The Clippers want the most aggressive and dynamic version of Brad. That’s music to his ears.”
Beal averaged 17.0 points and 3.7 assists per game last season for the Suns while splitting time between the starting lineup and a reserve role. The career 37.6% three-point shooter will join a Clippers team that has loaded up its bench with accomplished veterans like John Collins and Brook Lopez as they look to cement themselves as a contender around star Kawhi Leonard.
Anytime I think about Brad Beal the first thing that comes to mind is his incredible gm7 performance in Boston in 2017. Definitely 1 of the best gm7s from a guy who’s team lost the game. 38pts & just a dominant overall floor game from 1 of the most underrated players of his era. He’s borderline HOF but I’m guessing he gets in eventually, esp bc he seems destined to stay involved in the game after retirement, which def seems to help… link to m.youtube.com
Better than Jimmy and Paul George, very clearly
He will be an all star again this season and everybody will switch up and say they are “surprised”. Its pretty obvious…
He’s not better than Jimmy if you want to win come playoff time, but a better regular season player? Sure.
What did Jimmy win in the playoffs? People overrate losing in the finals a lot
Jimmy has won a lot of playoff games. A lot more than Beal ever has or will. There’s more to the playoffs than the finals. I don’t expect a wizards or clippers fan to understand that though.
I am a Warriors fan, thats why I only care about championships and not moral victories I guess
A warriors fan that thinks Beal is better than Jimmy Buckets? LOL cmon dude. Jimmy is a 5 time nba all defense and 5 time all nba. Beal has 1 all nba(3rd team). He’s never been on an all defense nba team. He’s been to less all star games by half.
AND
while his regular season ppg is higher, his playoff ppg is lower than jimmys.
There is no comparison. Beal doesn’t compare when you put him under a scope next to Butler.
Even though neither has ever won, if you value championships above all else I still have NO IDEA why you’d pick Beal over butler. I say that as a born in Massachusetts all things New England fan that knows history and appreciates championships as well.
I am not talking all time, obviously Jimmy and PG both rank ahead of Beal career wise but in the present day I fully believe Beal is a better player than both and can contribute more to a winning team.
I guess the PG comparison will be easy since he is going to his former team (LAC) to play with his former teammates (Kawhi, Harden, Zubac).
I’ll remember this Brado. Almost anything is possible though
I happier Beal and we will see
I like this call
The Clippers are the Statue of Liberty of basketball. “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
Beal has a chance to turn his career around. Clippers are a good team. And their expectations should be. To be better than last year’s team.
A team that won 50 gms.
PG — Harden , SG — Beal, SF — Kawhi, C — Zubac
PF — Collins ………. Talk about a redemption team.
Could be one of the best starting line ups next year. Plus the bench looks very strong. Old but good team.
Just stay healthy. And it should be fun ……
The best betting fun will be which games Kawhi sits out
The Clippers should offer Collins, Zubac, picks and cash to the Lakers for LeBron and LeBron Jr
LeBron stays in LA
Clippers can try to win it all for the 1st time and make Quincy McCall’s dad proud
That’ll put butts in the seats
BING!
shame how promising this will look till they hit the playoffs and the harden wall
