Stephen Curry showed no effects from the quad injury that sidelined him for five games as he returned to the court Friday night, writes Anthony Slater of ESPN. Even though the Warriors lost to Minnesota, Curry gave the offense a much-needed lift with 39 points in 32 minutes while making 14 of his 28 shots from the field.
“Started to feel normal again,” he said. “So individually, it was a good first game back just to get my lungs back and feel like myself.”
Curry came out firing, taking six shots and scoring 10 points during his eight-minute stint in the first quarter. He also helped to erase a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter with 14 points, including a trio of three-pointers. He didn’t travel with the team on its three-game road trip, staying in San Francisco to get treatment on the injury and participate in a Wednesday night scrimmage.
“He looked great,” coach Steve Kerr said. “Just the movement, the flow. I asked him how he was feeling after the first eight-minute run in the first quarter, and he said, ‘I feel great.'”
There’s more on the Warriors:
- Curry responded to questions this week about Jonathan Kuminga, who hasn’t played in the past two games after being pulled from the rotation, relays Nick Friedell of The Athletic. Curry expressed support for the young forward, stating that he’ll likely get another chance to contribute before long. “We still have high hopes that he’ll impact our team this year,” Curry said. “But it’s just an idea you can’t lose your spirit when things aren’t going your way, because you’re a game or two away from it coming right back to you. And if you’ve checked out, or if you’re still not engaged in the learning process, then you might miss your moment on the back end. So it is a back-and-forth, and it’s the responsibility of both sides. As a team, it’s our job to support him because we know he’s a great dude, a very talented player, (and) we still have belief that he can help us.”
- Curry’s return creates a crowded situation in the Golden State backcourt, observes Sam Gordon of The San Francisco Chronicle (subscription required). The team has nine guards on its roster, and the availability of De’Anthony Melton, who made his season debut last Thursday, along with the emergence of Pat Spencer will lead to some difficult decisions regarding playing time. “We have a lot of guys now and it’s a great problem to have but it’s not an easy problem to solve, because I also would say there’s not a ton of separation between our players,” Kerr said. “… You always like to have a set rotation, but we’ll just have to see how it plays out.”
- Draymond Green will rejoin the team Sunday in Portland, but it hasn’t been determined if he’s going to play, according to Ali Thanawalla of NBC Sports Bay Area. Green has missed the past three games for personal reasons, and Kerr told reporters that the right mid-foot sprain he aggravated last week has healed. “It’s just a question of whether (director of sports medicine and performance) Rick (Celebrini) feels comfortable putting him out there,” Kerr said. “So, he’ll meet us in Portland and we’ll assess him there.”

Everyone jumping off the Kuminga Bandwagon lols .
Less you olay him. The less you will get back.
So, you believe that the 29 other teams in the NBA have not seen Kuminga play over the past 5 years? They know his strengths and weaknesses. He is not going to be very valuable until he overcomes he mental issues and can be consistent. Teams want reliable players. Not knowing what you are going to get makes it hard to give him playing time. Players have to be ready from the tip off to the final buzzer.
The day you know or understand what I believe. Your head will explode lmao
Any player looks better when they are playing better. Plus a young player you can see his progression. Not that you can. A talent evaluates can tell by the quickness in his decision making. They can tell how much the game has slowed down for them. Look up that term. Learn something. It’s different for all players. You see that when they play real competition. Again not that you can. At least you can learn what it means.
Again, how many seasons have they had to look at Kuminga? They can see where he was and project where he will go. Teams aren’t exactly excited by his progress.
Just tell him to pack and get ready for Jan 15. We’ll do it your way. Stay home till we call and tell you where you are going. Yeah sounds right. Enjoy what you get for him.
Funny. I remember last summer someone going on a daily screed, complete with music, how Kuminga was going to sign the QO and get traded by Oct 1st. How’d that workout? LOL.
That’s your comeback. I never said he would be traded. Cause someone taught me a QO means you go where you want. So what I said was he should be traded before Oct 1st. Which all you clowns wanted double his value. You didn’t want to pay him or trade him. I been saying for three yrs you should trade him. So how far ahead of the game am I. Keep trying Beaver …..

@KnickAl
2015, Warriors were #1 in Def Rtg and 2nd in Off Rtg 2017, 2nd in Def Rtg, 1st in Off Rtg
2018, 3rd in Off Rtg, 11th in Def Rtg
2022, 1st in Def Rtg, 17th in Off in Rtg
Looks like you’re wrong.

@NBA is OK
You are looking at wrong stats. You need to be looking at playoffs that year . And then head to head playoff series. To see how they did against that team. For instance in 2015 —-
Warriors were rated #1 in the playoffs. Out of 16 teams on offense.
And they were rated #1 in defensive rating.
They played the Cavs in Finals won 4-2.
Their rating for Finals series was ——
Warriors – Offense (105.5) and Defense (98.0)
Cavs — Offense (99.0) and Defense (102.5)
So as you can see. Warriors were good on both sides of the floor. But it was their offense that was the dominant factor. Warriors FG 43.6%. Cavs 38.4%. Like I said before the 3pt shot was a weapon. They brought into game. Thats offense a three pt shot is offense. Warriors made 42 threes Cavs 27 over six gm series. You understand now why it is offense. And you can look up the other yrs yourself.
Lazy Kuminga is a trash can. They should’ve just let him go for nothing.
Harsh words. I’m not sure if he’s inherently lazy, but he’s just one of those guys who has relied on his incredible other worldly athleticism to get him this far.
To succeed, though he needs to realize he has to work on his game.
I don’t know if that’s lazy or it’s just not the right mindset?
He needs to listen to Kerr. Kerr tiold him what he needs to work on but Kuminga is being stubborn and not following through on it.
There were some negative rumors regarding his work ethics as early as his 1st-2nd year. I remember Stephen A Smith talking about it amd I was upset who on the team would leak. Anyways what a waste of time for everyone involved, waste of 7th pick, and waste of amazing athleticism. I hope he can revititalize his career with chamge of scenery. There are few things I didnt like about him regardless of lack of suppprt from Kerr.
1. He gave up on the team on some gms last year and this year (He checked out)
2. His poor energy level on some gms. Old and rich men like Butler and Curry brought much more energy and motivation.
3. Lack of improvement in little things in his game – dribbling, moving without the ball, protecting the ball when driving to the hoop, blocking out defenders, etc.
Too many gms were just too painful to watch how his career got sidetracked. Yes, Kerr and FO are at fault for not able to develop and motivate these guys. But Kuminga and his advisors own 95% of fault. They have all become too entitled, too much money involved, and often it’s just business to them. They still need to play for the love of the game first, and then money and fame will follow. It’s too bad Kuminga didnt realize it is a privilege and blessing to be playing in nba with Curry and for Kerr at Chase.
I do feel he was wronged in some aspects but that’s how real world works. He needs to work through it, oversome, and not self-pity. There is no free lunch and it’s up to you to seize your opportunity.
Some people feel like they were born on third base.
@michol. I wont argue any your points other than questioning his work ethic and character.
It’s well-known his work ethic is exceptional. Google it.
As for thinking “he was born on 3rd base” he spent 14 years growing up in the middle of a genocide in the Congo. He has lost most people he grew up with. He is active year-round in advocating internationally to help the cause, including giving a significant share of his income to aid victims.

Not talking about his social background and standing at all. I’m talking about his athleticism and he thinks that will carry him to an NBA career. It won’t.., it will get him benched and that’s what we see here.
The only “character” issue I have with Kuminga is not giving his very best on the court each and every game he plays. I am his fan but I cringe when I aee him “checked out” on the court. There were several games last year and this year.
Although I emphasize with his situation with GS and Kerr, he still has to maintain professionalism and understand that fans are paying to watch him play. It’s for his own good and I will call my son out the same. I am not so sure Kerr would call out Nick though. :)
As for the work ethic, I was just pointing out that there were gossips and leaks early in his career. There’s gotta be some logical explanations regarding his fallout with the team and Kerr. How in the world you go from future of the franchise, $125m+ extension offer, to 1 yr guarantee only, dnps, and moping on the court after 5 long yrs?? I fault the coaches and the team but Kuminga and his advisors need to own it. It’s a major disaster for everybody.
Cavs just called …….. Ball an expiring contract, and a 2026 pick ……
Bulls just called …….. a pair of Jordan’s worn sneakers in first Finals …… Williams

Nets just called …………. Kuminga plus a #1 pick.
We will give you MPJ and a Dr J signed jersey
Knicks just. Called ………. we will give you Yabusele, Shamet,
The iffers keep coming lols ………
Remember when the Warriors fans were calling Poole the next splash brother ….,, the next Curry .
Then it was Podz the next one.
Same guys who drafted Wiseman. Moody, Kuminga.
The future ……….. Swoooooooosh !!
Well They just boarded up that window. The Window is shut ….. done. Trade Curry to Charlotte now.
Yawn coming from a knick’s fan that is just bitter today watching his Giants lose again.
I’m a Jets fan.
I only care about one sport. I only follow one sport. The Sport the Warriors can’t draft for. Where will all of you go now. .500 is best you can ever hope for now. Is it 50-50 Warriors fans abandon HoopsRumors ….. lmao
When will you be back lol ….
jets fan ? No wonder you are so bitter. Jets can’t draft. They get top draft picks every year for being so bad and still swing and miss. Warriors have their draft picks unlike Knicks who gambled and will have no championship to show for it. Life doesn’t look good for you having no draft picks and way over the cap unable to sign free agents. Going to be a long decade for you.
Don’t worry arc the schedule gets better for next month. If you don’t take advantage of it. It could be the end of…….
Warriors are showcasing a few players as trade bait right now.
