December 2, 12:24 pm: Cryer’s two-way contract with the Warriors is now official, according to the team (Twitter link).
December 1, 5:12 pm: Rowe has been released, the Warriors announced (Twitter link).
December 1, 4:42 pm: The Warriors plan to waive second-year forward Jackson Rowe, who is signed to a two-way contract, reports Marc Stein of The Stein Line (via Twitter).
According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype (Twitter link), the Warriors will sign free agent guard LJ Cryer to fill Rowe’s two-way spot — the former Baylor and Houston standout spent training camp and the preseason with the Warriors prior to being released in October.
The 24-year-old also played with the Warriors’ Summer League club after going undrafted in June, averaging 9.2 points and 2.8 assists on .500/.421/.833 shooting in four appearances (18.1 minutes per game). He averaged 5.0 PPG in 9.6 MPG during the preseason.
Cryer, a 6’0″ point guard, had a decorated college career and has put up impressive statistics with Santa Cruz during the Tip-Off Tournament this fall, averaging 24.3 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.9 rebounds on .444/.414/.867 shooting in seven games (34.1 minutes per contest). He’s attempting 12.4 threes per game and making 5.1 of them — eye-popping numbers.
Rowe, 28, went undrafted in 2020 after four years at Cal State Fullerton. The Toronto native spent his first four post-college seasons playing in France, Sweden, Canada, Germany, and the NBA G League prior to signing an Exhibit 10 deal with Golden State in July 2024.
A 6’6″ forward, Rowe was initially waived by the Warriors before the 2024/25 season began, opening that campaign in the G League with their affiliate team in Santa Cruz. He signed a two-year two-way contract with Golden State in January, appearing in six NBA games last season while averaging 3.7 points and 1.8 rebounds in 8.7 minutes per night. He didn’t play in any NBA games this season for the Warriors.
Rowe has performed well for Santa Cruz the past few seasons, which is how he earned his promotion last season. In 36 games in ’24/25 (33.0 MPG), he averaged 16.3 PPG, 7.9 RPG, 2.8 APG and 1.3 SPG on .515/.391/.681 shooting. Through five games this fall, he’s averaging 13.4 PPG, 8.4 RPG, 2.0 APG and 1.4 SPG, though his three-point percentage dropped (23.8%) in a small sample size (5-for-21).

The warriors needed another 3 point shooter that handle the ball.
Not as much as they need a big man. I like Cryer, but this seems like a typical mistake.
Curry is literally out a week (or more). They need a ball handler to play spot minutes, not a Center who would be worse than James Wiseman.
I don’t think he will be seen with the big club until the end of the season.
I think he can and will play for the Warriors. He’s looked more than decent in Santa Cruz, 24 .3 ppg on 44%/41%/87% shooting with 4.9 rpg 6.1 apg and 3.1 TO pg.
And that 41% from three is on 12.4 3PAs/gm!
Not sure why people are complaining about him being a 2 way player. Warriors offense has been terrible for last 10 games
Actually, there offense has been terrible the past two seasons. The offense was ranked 17th and 16th in shooting 3s. If he continues to develop, with Melton, Seth, and Richard, Heild could be expandable.
Heild has been terrible all season but 2 games. The 2 players added are both good at 3 point shots. There are a few players that will be gone next season Heild, Santos, and TJD.
I had hopes for Santos this year. I wonder what happened?
Santos just inconsistent but not enough playing time
Find a big man that they can sign to a 2-way contract. All of them are already signed.
I dont understand how Kerr just doesnt say “Dray and Jimmy are my point players” and play them both with Moody, Podz and Post for 30+ mins each.
At 28, in NBA years, and no full contract in sight, time to go to Europe or consider coaching.
Are you…. just dumb?
Do you really think he is going to get a full contract anytime soon?
No? But he’s obviously good enough to be on a two way lmao. He’s not gonna quit at 28 and go coach because he has to play in the G-League
Rowe has 3 more years of Two-Way eligibility after this one.
Do note that Pat Spencer has shuffled back and forth from Two-Ways & Standards w/ the Warriors. Santa Cruz is a farm team. The player who’s spent the last 3 years w/ Santa Cruz isn’t going anywhere.
You should perhaps reevaluate your view on how the NBA minor leagues work in 2025. Fringe players aren’t taking the same path they did 10, 20, 30 years ago.
A player with 52 NBA minutes on his resume is also not exactly a huge draw for European teams. Bar is much higher out there too given 100 Two-Way players get token NBA minutes every year.
Umm…Rowe has already played in Europe. He also played in Canada. He didn’t get his first gleague contract until he was 26.
Spencer, on the other hand, played one year of college ball, a season in Europe, before he received a gleague contract.
I don’t think teams are going to looking at a guy, who is about turn 29, as a 2 way prospect. They probably want younger players to develop.
“I don’t think teams are going to looking at a guy, who is about turn 29, as a 2 way prospect.”
And that’s where you’re wrong. Teams are using Two-Ways to get around Cap & Apron restrictions. They are increasingly being given to players who are ready to play right away. The average age for a TW is around 24-25. These aren’t “Prospects”, they are players (usually 4-year college guys) that develop within the system. Like an AJ Green.
Your own team’s Pat Spencer is a prime example of this. He is 29 years old, in his 3rd season of TW eligibility, and has been hanging around the organization since 2022. He was signed for the playoffs at the end of the season. A scenario that could very well repeat itself.
Again, the G-League has changed now that everyone has their own Affiliate. Players are spending 3-5 years w/ one organization. Teams are regularly signing/waiving like 5-8 players per training camp to E10s so they can get a bonus for sticking with the team. Nobody is signing raw 19-year old “prospect” (like a Dink Pate) to Two-Ways. That guy won’t get a Two-Way until he’s actually ready to contribute.
Humm…I guess we see things differently. If you are on a 2-way contract, and playing in the GLeague, you are still a prospect. You are still developing.
Pat Spencer is different. He spent 4 years as a premier D-1 Lacrosse player. He didn’t play basketball until graduate school. So, he still has some room to grow.
Jackson Rowe played 4 years of college hoops. He has been around the world. They probably see his ceiling. He may get a 2-way contract. But, time isn’t on his side.
Just in time for Thunder game ….. 🤑😫🤑😂
Why would he be on the bench for the Thunder game? He’ll just continue on in Santa Cruz.
I don’t blame him. The whole team should go with him.
I don’t think he has a choice in the matter. That is kinda how these contracts work.
Going even smaller, awesome. Kerr is going to get a whole roster of under 6’3″ guys lmao
Buddy <<<<<>>>>>> Brook
Oh great. Another non-center
GET A CENTER!!!!
Arguing over a 6’6 big lmao
6’6 wing’
Clippers are not even using Lopez lols.
DNP coaches decision against Heat last night. With Al’s back issue. Warriors would be wise to check in with Clippers. A shooter like Buddy can work with Harden. Win win for both teams.
Brook Lopez is done. Bam had 28 last night, 10 more than his average, and they still didn’t play Brook Lopez.
He’s a statue on defense, except for around the rim he’s still getting blocked shots, which are nice.
But buddy looks done too lol. Not sure why the Clippers would want him lol. I think a trade would have to benefit both sides not just the Warriors so this is not a realistic suggestion.
1. Buddy might just need a change of scenery
2. Multi-team trade if you don’t like that fit
3. Kerr benches Post when he has a +5 and is cooking with the stars
4. Brook is worth less to the Clippers, but more to GSW
5. Brook is old and can ask to play on a contender
6. Fire Steve Kerr
7. Trade Brandin Podziemski for a bag of chips
Al’s ideas outside of the Knicks are often pretty non-sensical (…as are most of his Knicks ideas but that’s besides the point).
1. The Clippers are 11-games under 500. They will be pawning off veterans, not acquiring them.
2. Buddy isn’t giving them anything a healthy Bogdan Bogdanovic isn’t. Or a Bradley Beal. Which is relevant because….
3. Hield is PARTIALLY GUARANTEED FOR 6 MILLION. 3M next year, 3M the year after that (of the 10M he’d stand to make each year). Unlike other vets who will get moved (like Lopez, Bogdanovic, etc), he isn’t a true expiring contract. He is a cap hit. No team is taking Hield on to their books without getting draft compensation.
Massive meltdown incoming.
