Jonathan Kuminga‘s night was cut short by injuries on Thursday and he’s not interested in playing with the Warriors much longer, according to an NBA insider.
Kuminga twisted his left ankle and hyperextended his left knee during a second-quarter drive against the Mavericks, Anthony Slater of ESPN reports. The fifth-year forward didn’t play the remainder of the contest but neither injury is believed to be serious, Slater added.
While Marc Stein of The Stein Line tweets that Kuminga is expected to undergo an MRI, the former No. 7 overall pick told Slater that he’ll see how he feels on Friday morning before determining whether that’s necessary.
Kuminga, who has demanded a trade, played 21 minutes on Tuesday in the aftermath of Jimmy Butler‘s season-ending knee injury. Kuminga had 20 points and five rebounds against Toronto and was off to a strong start in Thursday’s contest vs. Dallas, supplying 10 points, two assists and two steals in nine minutes prior to his departure.
Coach Steve Kerr said prior to the contest that Kuminga would remain in the rotation, according to Nick Friedell of The Athletic (Twitter link). However, the 23-year-old hasn’t softened on his trade demand, Chris Haynes reported during an NBA on Prime segment (Twitter video link).
“Kuminga has no desire to remain a member of the Golden State Warriors. He is very much hoping that he will be dealt by the deadline,” Haynes said, adding, “His relationship with head coach Steve Kerr is fractured beyond repair. He’s felt that he hasn’t had any organizational support throughout this process, so he’s felt devalued with the organization.”
According to Haynes, some teams believe the Warriors might wait until the summer to trade the 23-year-old forward. Rival teams have also told him that Golden State refuses to take on additional salary for 2026/27 in an in-season Kuminga trade.
General manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. stated this week that the market for Kuminga is cool. “In terms of demands, when there’s a demand, there needs to be a demand on the market. So we’ll see how that unfolds,” Dunleavy said.

Could MDJ have handled this any worse? The Warriors soap opera rolls on… 🙄
There will be some big changes next year for the warriors. Kerr will retire. Green’s last year. Changing of the guards is coming soon.
Kuminga played his last game for them tonight.
The whole roster except Moody is not under contract after next season. So yeah, there will be some big changes.
What does Curry want to do? How much longer can he do it?
10 pts in 9:28 1 reb 2 ast 2 stl 0 TOs on 105% TS.
That’s impressive. My guess is he will continue to try to increase his market.
Jonathan Kuminga has played his last game for the Warriors.
Why do you believe that’s true?
Just coming to that conclusion based on everything I’ve seen to this point.
If you have a farm, take the title to Vegas and wager on the fact I stated above.
The biggest no-brainer in the history of mankind.
That would be like wagering the farm on one roulette spin choosing either red or black.
Based on the Warriors needing bodies combined with Kuminga’s need to increase demand for his services, my conclusion is that he’ll definitely get more PT before the deadline.
It’s my opinion that the more he plays the worse his demand will be because he will show his inability to provide any sort of efficiency for a winning team.
I’ve said this over and over and it’s the correct call. He will not play for the Warriors again.
The Warriors approach will be to sell the idea of his future potential rather than his effectiveness today.
I agree the Warriors had that approach the first two games after Jimmy.
The dubs needed him and called on him.
But JK ultimately said,
“screw that I’m going down and not playing. My knee hurts and I twisted my ankle. I’m not playing. Trade me now.”
No Gary. Warriors ONLY wanted him to play to increase his value. And he did it. It wasnt because they needed him. He still haa some value but Warriors are cornered amd they are to blame and not Kuminga. He signed the contract with the assurance he will be traded.
I agree with you Michol, and they’re wrong. It’s the wrong approach.
But they’re trying to win ball games. He’s the next man up when Jimmy goes down. They haven’t tanked the season yet so they’re playing him to win. Perhaps he can do some damage out there, but he’s definitely not helping his trade value. He’s still the same player. He was when he came into the league five years ago.
I know exactly what you are saying about his play. It’s frustrating at times, but players de develop differently. There have been many players that sont have natural feel for the gm but then all of a sudden they figure it out. Even guys like Lebron didnt learn to ahoot efficiently until 10 yrs. Even Giannis didnt have natural feel….
A blow out against Toronto at home and a fine 10 minute stretch didn’t improve his trade value man…
The entire league knows the Warriors have to play ball if they want to get rid of JK. The jig is up as they say.
“Same player he was when he came into L”
Did I miss something lol ……. did he avg 20 when he came in ???? Who is the same at 18 yrs old. When you are 23 yrs old ?????
@washington__onercats
There’s no reason that Kuminga scoring 1 point per minute of playing time on 77% shooting wouldn’t at least raise the level of interest in acquiring him from other teams.
@GaryRSW
You projecting that sort of negativity onto JK shows a significant bias.
I would think he’s helped his value by scoring an avg of 15 pts in 15 minutes on 77%/33%/75% splits with 3 rpg 2 apg/ 1 TO pg 1.5 stl and the +10.5, regardless of the losses.
Warriors won’t get value for Kuminga now. He isn’t motivated to heal and play. Best for both is to stay till end of year. He increases his value by filling in for Jimmy. That helps both for a trade before the draft ….
Warriors can even do a sign-n- trade I believe. Makes nore sense to me.
Golfclap to try hard only when it’s for yourself.
JBS, sorry I just repeated what you had already written.
I like the way you think !!
Curry will retire in GS. Has to ……. Best team they can get is. Young vets who fit with him. They can carry on. Jimmy injury really messed it up. Love Jimmy but this is business. They could move his expiring contract.
Yeah – you right. I’d say even some old vets. I keep banging on Norm Powell.
Agree on Jimmy as well. He has been a plus-plus on the warriors. Such a smart player. But we are in the “honeymoon” period with Butler. If he had stayed healthy and we reached this point next season would he start clamoring for an extension and getting pissy?
Go ahead and move him if you can – doesn’t seem likely. He comes back a year from now on an injury management schedule.
At odds with St. Kerr?
Kuminga looked amazing before that tweak of his knee, he was +18 in 9 minutes in a game they lost by 8. I wonder if he would want to stay if Kerr was fired…
Gary Payton II for some reason HAS to close out the 4Q and he did and the Mavs got unlimited buckets in the idiotic small ball lineups Kerr keeps running out there. GP2 -32 in 17 mins. Steve Kerr gotta go.
Heart muscle….I’m done with you lot.
There is so much parity in the league right now most GMs think they can advance by remaining conservative.

“Kuminga has no desire to remain a member of the Golden State Warriors. He is very much hoping that he will be dealt by the deadline,” Hayes said, adding that “his relationship with head coach Steve Kerr is fractured beyond repair. He’s felt that he hasn’t had any organizational support throughout this process, so he’s felt devalued with the organization.”
— You can’t blame JK for wanting out. He’s put up with this long enough. Imo his game will grow and develop better somewhere else. According to the article. It says there isn’t a big market right now for JK. And yes we can all understand that. But who is responsible for that.
Playing out the year imo helps both parties. JK builds his value. Therefore GS gets a better trade deal. Hopefully for the draft. JK gets a better opportunity on another team. And an extension on his contract.
Seems like there is too much animosity here. So Warriors might be forced to move him. JK doesn’t owe Warriors anything. Next couple of wks should be fun …..—-
JK has built up his value the last 2 games. He shows that his offense can give a team 20 points a game just needs to be on teh right team. Watch close to trade deadline a up and coming team will trade for him. I wouldn’t doubt on the right teamhe will be a productive player.
Wow you sound like me …….. like two YEARS ago lol.
I keep saying Kerr is the problem, Kerr is incompetent, Kerr directly caused the Poole/Green incident, Kerr refuses to change his philosophy after the rest of the league has it figured out, Kerr refuses to build an offense outside of Steph, Kerr refuses to stop playing Moody, GP2, Buddy, Richard and Podz as Forwards, Kerr refuses to properly develop his prospects, playing 2W scrubs over Kuminga and Moody when those two are building blocks and the 2W scrub is out of the league.
So, why is he still there? He has been easily the coach who has been the most destructive to his own teams chances since 2023. 4 straight years of small ball being countered by playing tall forwards who get unlimited buckets at the other end and Kerr left scratching his head how rotations of Curry, GP2, Melton, Buddy and Horford don’t play any defense. We all can see the problem, but he cannot. How is it possible he still has a job?
You keep getting upset about Kerr but GSW are letting him retire at end of the season. Have I been saying Green is causing many of teh loses and they play better without him? Yes I have. The team is about to start the rebuild. If Kuminga makes it past the trade deadline know they are saying goodbye to Kerr.
Yes, arc89, you definitely know ball!!! Glad you post here. You are correct on all points and I pray every day they pull the pin on Kerr sooner than later, but also, not re-signing him works too…
I definitely would rather they fire Kerr and keep Kuminga, but also trade Dray, Jimmy, GP2 and Buddy and go younger. Trey Murphy III would be perfect. I would even take Zion over Kuminga right now but also I like having Kuminga on my team, he brings a lot of joy on the court and is always smiling and positive and happy, he is never angry like Draymond. Joy is the future of the league imo, Wemby plays with a lot of it too. No more flopping like Bron, no more grifterball like the Thunder…if Ai comes to refereeing, we will see Steph rewarded and the frauds exposed.
He will be replaced at the AS break just like Nuggets Malone. Kerr has acted like Mark Jackson in the last 2 yrs unfortunately.
Fact is Davey you soon might get your wish. Kerr’s success gives him the right to fail. Seems he has overstayed as coach. Unfortunately it took an injury to expose it. JK would be a decent replacement for the year. He already messed up that relationship.
Not only is it a no-brainer that Kuminga will be traded at the deadline, but it looks like Greymond is trying to force his way out of town as well?
Those 3 fouls in a few minutes in the 4th were brutal, killed their momentum.
Also his constant whining to the refs was childish, especially as they were the correct calls. Can’t do that if you’re a rookie, definitely can’t do that if you’re a leader.
If frustrations continue to grow with losses, I can see him doing something real dumb and getting himself suspended again.
And with 2 games vs Gobert up next, it could happen by Tuesday.
Lol !!!! Yes !!
i used to support Green but his stupid plays just makes you want him to leave as soon as possible. The warrior announcers making excuses for him. Powell did flop to over exagerate the hit but you don’t elbow players like that so the flagrant 1 should be called. Green might be trying to get traded the way he has played the last few weeks.
This is a really good observation on Draymond. He can help many contenders and Warriors are collapsing. Kerr gone at the AS break. Kuminga for sure! Maybe Melton, Holford, Hield too.
$25 million player option for Draymond. That’s a tough sell. The old triples singles aren’t what they use to be without being surrounded by serious firepower.
He knows how to win. There will be at least 6 contenders interested if he’s available. $25m is peanut money. He might even opt out and sign 2-3 yr contract with the new team.
Yeah right….Steph, Klay, Durant must of been hard to win with. Those days are long gone. What contender is taking on this headache?
In all honesty, Nrg, I think a team could take a flyer on him because it’s just to close out this year plus one more year.
He has the defense, the knowledge and the energy to help a team get over the hump perhaps. I would think a team might take a chance on him.., that he might be that one guy.
Couple of teams did it with Rodman even though he was a major hassle. Take off for the weekend to go to Vegas without notice, etc., kicking cameraman, etc., but he was still worth the risk for a year or two.
Who though. Spurs? No. Denver, no. Okc, no. Houston, no. That’s the west contenders. East, Knicks, no. Boston, hell no. Pistons, no. Cavs, doubt it. I don’t think Rodman was getting paid on a similar scale post Bulls days as Draymond now. If the knicks flame out come playoffs they may get desperate. Steph and Draymond for whatever but, Draymond by himself is a hard sell. No way I’m giving up young talent for Green at this point.
It’s not that I’m blaming Kuminga for his situation, but he is by far the most selfish young player I’ve seen in a while. He’s entitled and not willing to do what’s necessary to play warriors ball. It’s not Kuminga fault the warriors drafted him, but it’s also not the warriors fault that Kuminga is immature and not interested in winning. It’s obvious to everyone that they are both done with each other, just as it’s obvious Kuminga could be a great player in a different system.
Trade Kerr, Kuminga, Draymond, Butler, STEPH! ANYTHING THAT ISNT BOLTED DOWN!!!
Unfortunately this day comes for every winning franchise …..
Yep and if they do it right they’ll be just fine.
Literally trading Jimmy, Dray, Kuminga, GP2 and Buddy and getting better fits for Steph who simply don’t turn the ball over and get 9 million techs and flagrants a year would turn GSW into a beast. The young core is there, they are too deep into that build, it’s just re-arranging the pieces at the top.
Which is why Giannis makes so much sense. No Kerr and then having Giannis+Steph+a strong bench = next 3 titles. Save Curry’s prime. Free Kuminga. Free Curry’s prime.
3 more titles? Curry’s prime? Dude it’s 2026. lol
They need to trade Steph!
You want to give Davey a heart attack ….
I don’t lol I like Davey. And I know losing Steph would hurt but the quicker they gather draft picks and have 2-3 bad years the better off they’ll be.
It’s just stupid because Steph is the face of the league. You do not trade the face of the league. He is the reason why the Warriors franchise is #1 most valuable in the NBA. He’s never being traded, but what GSW should be doing is building around him with players who mesh with him – namely 2-way wings, not more undersized guys, not GP2 or even Seth Curry. We need 6’8″+ guys who can score and defend.
You’re gonna need a lot more than that when Curry retires in 2 years. They should just hit the hard reset man.
Actually they might do it after this season regardless. With Kerr out they can go nuclear lol.
Curry retiring at age 39? LMAO! Nope! He himself says otherwise. Keep wishcasting, Steph is built different, he is gunning for the all-time points title and will get there in his 40s.
Would be cool of you if you stopped acting all cool to me but then you tell lies to try and clown me on the first post of a topic though, for clout. “Probably”. Why don’t you be better? Two faced backstabber much? Remains to be seen…
Curry has zero chance at becoming the all time points leader. He’d have to continue his current pace(which he won’t – he’s old) for SEVEN more seasons just to get close and that’s if LeBron retires this year.
I’m not clowning on you man just made like 1 joke about something you and I have been talking about on here for a while. You can make jokes towards me I don’t mind as long as you’re not insulting I’m cool with it.
Gotta be able to laugh at yourself man otherwise what fun is this??
He seems to be just a slightly above average player that held out to get paid like a star based on his ceiling…am I misremembering, but he lost his spot in the rotation and that’s the organizations fault?
He lost his spot in the rotation because he has no refined skills to contribute to a winning playoff bound basketball team.
According to many here, yes, it’s the organization’s fault.
Gary, but if that’s true, how do you magically find minutes for him to contribute when Butler goes down? And guarantee he would’ve had a role the remainder of the season, just to help GSW remain competitive. I’m not saying Kuminga is blameless, but the guy can clearly contribute SOMETHING. More than Will Richard, gui santos and podz imo
Gary hates everyone I support. He doesn’t actually believe these things, he is doing it for arguments’ sake. Kuminga was +18 in 9 minutes last night, he was literally ending the game for the Warriors, then he got hurt. Kuminga is awesome at NBA basketball and simply has the worst coach in the league to deal with. Give Kuminga a better, younger, more positive coach who wants his team to win, and Kuminga’s elite ceiling will be hit.
Yes, it’s really a big mess. But when Butler goes down for the year, all bets are off and you change your thinking immediately.
Here’s a kid who can hopefully do some damage.
“I don’t care what happened or even what I said yesterday or last week.., he’s playing !!”
Psst: the warriors are no longer a playoff bound team. Also they need bodies, and they need to show the league that Kuminga has some value.
Not without JK playing lol. Definitely not a playoff team.
He’s done. They’ll trade him for anything of value at this point. There is a team out there who is willing to roll the dice on his upside.
Wait – didn’t you previously say that he won’t play another game for GSW?
The Red Stocking Gary is confused lol …. He’s a true Wagoneer doesn’t have a clue about young talent. Thinks winning defines them. Doesn’t understand what building a basketball team takes. He just wants to watch a winner. And the winning days end for everyone…….
Did you read my comment above?
Butler goes down so All bets are off and I don’t care what I said.
That’s me talking, that’s Steve Kerr talking, that’s Dunleavy talking, that’s the Warriors talking.
Plus, I wrote it a day before you placed this comment so you should have easily seen it? So actually It’s true that you’re an antagonist and you’re not here to talk Hoops.
Essentially It’s a slight change in plan. Get it?
Yeah we can all change our minds. But not the things we say. Haters are not about the sport.
Kuminga has a sky high ceiling but Steve Kerr hates him and always has and Kerr only plays guys who are under 6’5″ and he is too tall for him. +18 in 9 minutes last night says it all. Kuminga is awesome and should have been starting every single game in this league if healthy. The benchings are just Kerr shoehorning smallball lineups that lose because Kerr seems to want to lose more than win.
Kerr is building a loser from a winner. A truly untalented guy who is totally washed up in this league and has destroyed Curry’s prime by creating nothing from something the last 3 years. DNP’ing a guy making $22.5M a year is complete insanity, the fans want to see Kuminga, Kuminga’s ceiling is elite on both sides, and he has flashed both in the sporadic playing time the 100%-incompetent-since-2023-Kerr has given him.
It really cannot be stated enough just how bad Kerr has been at his job since he singlehandedly caused the Poole/Green fight in 2023, and it’s been nonstop lunacy and losses that should have easily been wins since then. True underperformance yet he keeps job? Why? This is the NBA, coaches come and go like the wind but why does he stay there?
JK is a long 6’ 7” player. When he gets his shot down like SGA has. Nobody will stop that fadeaway J lol. Plus I still believe in his potential on defense. Players don’t go all out and play when teams dont believe in them. Just human nature. Imo he’s got 2Way potential.
I’m 100% in agreement with you there, Al. But I hope he never leaves GSW unless it’s for Giannis.
Not a snowballs chance in hell Davey. You could probably get Thanasis.
I like to see him finish the yr in GS. And remind everyone why he was a lottery pick. Then see what happens lol. Let the fanfare and arguing begin at end of year.
The fascination with plus minus on these threads always confuses me. Davey correctly pointed out that GP2 had a -32 but the next worst was Curry himself at -24. In fact the only starter with a positive was Podz with +10. Does this mean that in his eyes, Podz was better than Curry?
Plus minus might be the worst thing that happened to basketball since they stopped calling traveling lol
I was 10 in 94
I knew the warriors traded Webber but I didn’t know why
It seems to me like a similar situation?
Warriors ended up loosing the player and coach?
He didn’t get along with Don Nelson and had an opt out of his contract after the first year. Essentially he opted out because he didn’t like Nelson and could sign for more money, so the Warriors did a sign and trade.
Webber wanted out is why he left. The previous GM made a lot of bonehead trades and drafts.
Don Nelson wanted the 6-9 Webber to play center.
Being from Michigan, Chris’s favorite player growing up was Magic Johnson, a 6-8 point guard and that’s who Webber envisioned himself as an NBA player. Passing dribbling scoring from the wing position on dribble drives etc.
He was not about to pound down low against the guys like Shaq, even if the coaching staff thought it was the best way for the team to succeed.
Funny how history repeats itself in Kerr wants Green to be a center and he is too small to go against big players. Green even said he can’t play center.
Yet you pass on Raynaud. And you can’t admit it was a mistake …… Warrior fans.
he doesn’t impress me at all. we already have 2 players like him in TJD and Post. So you think a team of back up centers wins? SMH Will Richards is playing better.
Richards has nothing to do with taking him. You should have both. You are crying for a center. Yet can’t admit you passed on one. TJD isn’t a C. Post isn’t a true C yet. Horford at his age. Can’t play major mins at C. Stop asking for C ….. truly lost.
i am asking for a real starting center. Not another back up center. they guy can’t play defense. he is horrible on defense and wouldn’t take place of either Post or TJD. SMH raynaud is not good will be overseas playing in Europe very soon.
It’s a free pick. Why would you refuse a free player. Even worse you will give up assets for something that probably isn’t better. He is the best center in draft so far. Do you even bother to research him.
So what about the other 28 teams that passed on him? Why didn’t they pick him? Are you at their board and saying the same? No. Why did teh 76ers pass on him and pick Broome instead? What about the Hornets they picked a center before him? Its crazy how you think the only team that made a mistake not picking him is the warriors when the guy is not even in the top 50 rookies from the draft.
@KnickAl
Raynaud has been better than expected, with his career helped by Sabonis’ injury giving him playing time.
20-20 hindsight, so what?
Kuminga ruined his market, not the Warriors. I’ll
be the first to say Warrior GM is garbage, but this guy had so much ability but no drive and that’s the reason he’s on the bench. Offensive stats don’t matter and only players like Luka or Harden can get away with no defensive effort.
And if you don’t listen to coaches or defensive rotations on court how can you play a guy?
If he didn’t go down, he would be in this exact situation a year from now. How does a guy getting 16 consecutive DNPs suddenly find productive minutes you couldn’t find before butler’s injury? Kerr is very clearly jerking this guy around and Dunleavy is on board. Now you want to play him to save your season.
Warriors aren’t getting back a better on court replacement for Butler than Kuminga. Jk’s value is just too low. Therefore they were going to hold onto him all season if he kept producing. Not saying a guy should take an injury, but this has become a no win situation for all involved
It’s 90% Kerr’s fault and 5% MDJ and 5% Lacob’s fault.
Like, the very point of NBA coaching is “find ways to play your 5 best and most highly paid players the most minutes” instead Kerr creates some basketball role that doesn’t even exist called “connector guy” and that guy, even if he isn’t in the top 8 or so players, gets more minutes than everyone else. Really stupid coaching honestly. Just play your best players. Kuminga is way better than Santos, yet Santos started last night over Kuminga. Kerr is so bad at his job.
You may look at the box score, but these are not “productive” minutes. They lost.
And against Toronto, the road team, they got blown out even though JK had a wonderful statistical performance.
Put simply, JK is not part of a winning combination for the Warriors. He knows he doesn’t fit so he will sit out going forward.
my bigger warriors question is can they trade Green to the Lakers who are desperate for defense? sending over Green and Payton for Rui and Vanderbilt? Or Rui and Vincent straight across for Green?
I like your thinking. Getting younger with those two would be a plus. Draymond understands the warriors system but it is time to move on.
I want draft picks!
Sure – but what have the Warriors done with their recent draft picks? Not a great record. Also, I can’t see any of their assets aside from Curry (who is not getting traded) netting very high picks.
i would be just glad to get rid of Green’s contract for next year.help the warriors rebuild sooner. I am tired of this retire as a warriors push. Thompson left and it was better for him and the team.
I love Draymond Green. Curry and Green have great chemistry. But his athletic ability has diminished and his antics are so unpredictable and a constant distraction. Like last night, the flagrant 1 was questionable, but accept it and move on. Instead the team imploded around the incident and Draymond was driving the bus on that. This is not getting any better. He’s had a great Warrior career and if he retires as a Warrior fine, but maybe they can surround Curry next season with some other smart players and actually make a playoff push.
if they trade Green they can have more money to spend in the off season and bring back Melton.
I like the above Lakers trade proposal. Draft picks are fine, but the Warriors need pieces to surround Curry with for at least one more year. Also, I have little confidence in the FO regarding the draft. Will Richard notwithstanding.
They can use the rest of this season to plug in veterans obtained in trades and see how they fit around Curry.
@GaryRSW
Your claim that Kuminga’s minutes weren’t “productive” merely because the team lost is blatantly absurd.
Against Toronto, the 5 starters ranged from Post’s -10 in 18:29, Moody’s -20/ 17:37, Podz’s -24/ 21:59, Steph’s -24/ 24:41 to Dray’s -27/ 22:26.
Kerr played FOURTEEN other players besides Kuminga. Will Richard (ZERO pts ZERO rebs 1 ast 1 stl 1 TO was the only player of those that played over 20 minutes with a better +/- than JK at +7 (playing mainly vs the Raptors’ bench.
You should consider looking up what the word productive means and then trying again.
Simple question to you. Did they win?
At the end of the game, that’s what I’m looking at and if I don’t like the results at the end of the game, I need to change things.
Coincidentally the Warriors we’re starting to put together a nice little run while JK was in warm-ups the last month.
It’s just my opinion and if it’s absurd, so be it. It’s personally what I go by when I’m looking at realized productivity and results.
You have a different yardstick and that’s fine.
NBAisOK, You simply have a different way of looking at the game.
Perhaps you play fantasy basketball so players matter. I don’t play fantasy basketball or football.
I don’t give a rip if a guy averages 12 or 22 whether it’s points minutes or rebounds.
Again, when the player is on the floor, is he contributing to “team victories ?” That’s what matters to me.
Sounds like you don’t put a lot of thought into wins and losses, and you’re looking at JK’s “individual” production.
Fair enough. It’s not what I’m looking at, which happens to be this… does the player produce wins?
Right now, 5 years in, JK is not that guy.., yet.
They’re statistically “productive” minutes because he has the ball more often with Jimmy off the floor.
With Jimmy available and playing JK has no idea what to do, where to go as far as cutting or getting himself open.
Many may not realize this, but part of being a great basketball player is having the ability to get yourself open.
As I said yesterday, Gary Payton gets dunks and layups from Jimmy. JK waits on the perimeter for the ball.
I’m surprised they’re playing him (Butler injury or not). He’s not only not vested in the team’s performance vs his own, he may even be looking to show out individually at the expense of the team. All that is in addition to the obvious injury risk.
The only thing I can figure is that there is no market for him under his current contract while he’s in street clothes. Or maybe teams’ are questioning his health, physical or otherwise, and this is the way to address that concern.
Dude…
The Warriors crew seems to think that 10 minutes of good basketball suddenly increased Kuminga’s value… these people are so far gone
They trash him for two yrs. Now two gms wakes them up. Like I been saying all along. They expect him to save the franchise.
100% !!
“As I said yesterday, Gary Payton gets dunks and layups from Jimmy. JK waits on the perimeter for the ball.”
Patently untrue. Last night proved it. GP2 does 1 good play then 10 horrific ones. He isn’t an NBA talent anymore but Kerr acts like he is a HOFer.
Payton is a career -15 – min a gm player. He is playing
—13 — mins this yr. Yet Warriors fans like Gary compare the two. A 22 ye player with talent who has had his career smhindered by a coach who doesn’t believe in him.
Payton — (33 yrs old), 13 mins, 5 pts, 54% FG, 1.6 ast, 3.2 reb, 57% FT
Kuminga — (23 yrs old), 24 mins, 12 pts, 46% FG,
2.5 ast, 6 reb, 74% FT
We can all agree he should be playing better. Yet he leads Warriors in rebounds. Posters here all lie about Kuminga. Just to act like they know something.
Butler — 31 mins, 20 pts, 52% FG, 5 ast, 5.6 Reb,
86% FT.
JK is outperforming Payton not playing his best. And he played 31 mins consistently like Jimmy. He could outperform him too. Yet all the Haters just don’t have the vision to understand that. Just a bad situation lol.
Payton plays in all of Kerr’s late and close lineups. He is the 14th most talented guy on the team.
Payton was big in their last Title run. Kerr will always remember that.
Kerr refuses to move on from 2022 even though he personally caused the Poole incident, which destroyed that 2022 forever.
The reason the NBA has bigs ……. Real Bigs.
Is cause most of them do 60% of the dirty work. Rim protection is dirty work. They take most of the banging and physicality of the game. There is an art to dealing with this. Guys like Draymond are genius at it. Unfortunately undersized bigs like Green. Even today where there is less PT for true bigs. Gets more wear and tear at their position. These players pay a price.
Warriors just don’t understand that. Wagonneers don’t have that vision. Real centers even playing 20 mins a game. Help prolong careers of 4s and 3s. Protects them from injuries. By taking more banging. By rim protection. Keeping players out the paint. This is why passing on a free pick like Raynaud. For a team that needs a true center. Is a real problem. A true center is an asset to any 15 man roster. Why are the Pacers looking at Missi. Wagonneers don’t learn till it’s too late. Just like you blew it with Wiseman and Kuminga. You passed on a free pick Center Maxime Raynaud …..
The Warriors should be vying for Missi too
I agree 100% on Raynaud, and your take on the importance of quality bigs on a roster. I couldn’t believe he was available at 41, and was shocked, shocked I tell you, that they traded down. I like Will Richard, but it just highlights the Warriors aversion to actual bigs on the roster. They don’t place enough value on those positions, at least as they are traditionally rostered. Only want players who can hoist that three ball.
I believe it’s more Kerr. But passing on him was a mistake. He was a first rd pick late imo. Richard is decent. Not the value of a true center. Makes it worse now they are looking for one. Richard wasn’t a big need with their roster.
All Raynaud deniers should look him up yourselves. Take you an hour total. To know most of what you need to really judge him. This is the same expertise you use on Kuminga …. sad reality 😱
Post is still finding his way to play as a Center. Raynaud only knows how to play Center. They aren’t alike at this point……🤫
He graduated from Stanford University with a double major in Mathematics and Computer Science in 2025 before joining the Sacramento Kings. He was recognized as a top scholar-athlete in the ACC/Pac-12 region.
You really should do searches lols…….he is what Basketball experts call a “Big IQ player”
Isn’t Raynaud a clone of Post? Why have two 22 year-old Quentin Posts on the roster? One is enough?
By the way against the Cavaliers tonight, who have two excellent big men, Maxine is having such a wonderful game.
Yep a quality big man lol.
Whoever labeled him as that, I can only guess from conversations of two months ago.
Evidence states otherwise.
It’s ridiculous the amount of garbage spewed by commenters on this site who have no clue.
“Warriors need a big man” they cry.
“Here’s a guy who was great in college” they bemoan.
Yup, simply displaying zero NBA basketball acumen.
Wow a rookie with growing pains …. who knew.
He is right NOW the best center talent in 2025 draft.
And plays more mins than Post and better stats than Post. No one cares you are uninformed lol. Stop embarrassing yourself. Just say you don’t like him.
