The Warriors had internal discussions about the possibility of pursuing Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. but received indications that the asking price would be higher than they’re comfortable with, according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints. The Lakers also aren’t expected to pursue Porter, Siegel writes, since they’re not looking to take on that sort of a big-money contract at this time (Porter is owed $40.8MM in 2026/27).
The Nets have conveyed to potential trade partners that they’re comfortable keeping Porter beyond this season, per Siegel, so if their asking price isn’t met, there’s a good chance he’ll remain in Brooklyn through the trade deadline.
While a Porter deal doesn’t seem likely, Siegel says the Warriors remain on the lookout for wings and have been linked to veterans like DeMar DeRozan of the Kings and old friend Andrew Wiggins, who was sent to the Heat in last season’s Jimmy Butler trade. It remains to be seen whether Miami will look to move Wiggins, but there’s still “a lot of mutual love” between the former No. 1 overall pick and the Warriors, who won a title together in 2022, Siegel notes.
Of course, the Warriors’ interest in Pelicans wing Trey Murphy III has been an open secret for months, and they’ve made him multiple calls about him this season, sources tell ClutchPoints.
Rivals believe New Orleans’ asking price for Murphy would be multiple first-round picks and a young player or two, says Siegel, but it’s unclear if the Pelicans would move him even if that price is met — they’ve reportedly told teams they don’t intend to. The Raptors are another team that has inquired on Murphy, Siegel reports.
Here are a few more highlights from Siegel’s latest league-wide rumor roundup:
- Although Giannis Antetokounmpo has said on the record that he has no intention of ever asking the Bucks to trade him, many people around the NBA still believe it’s only a matter of time until the two sides split, Siegel writes. There’s a sense it could happen in the offseason, which is one reason why several clubs want to hang onto their top trade assets. “It really seems like he’s made up his mind already,” an Eastern Conference executive told ClutchPoints. “But this is Giannis we are talking about, and he’s very careful with the words he picks when talking to the media because he doesn’t want to be painted as the villain in Milwaukee. And if we are being honest, he shouldn’t be, no matter if he requests a trade or not. He may not have directly requested a trade, but everyone knows what’s going on there. It’s basically just who will break the silence and actually say it is time to move on. Giannis doesn’t want to be that guy, and that’s understandable.”
- The Timberwolves are widely expected to address their backcourt in a deadline deal, with Magic guard Tyus Jones, Kings guard Malik Monk, and Hornets guard Collin Sexton among the players they’ve been connected to, per Siegel. Charlotte has conveyed that it would want at least one asset of value (ie. a draft pick or young player) in a Sexton deal, Siegel adds.
- There’s a belief that the Magic are open to moving Jones, forward Jonathan Isaac, and/or center Goga Bitadze, according to Siegel, who suggests Orlando could acquire second-round capital and 2026/27 cap relief in a deal involving Bitadze. The Magic are operating about $5.6MM above the luxury tax line, so they could look to duck the tax altogether by trading one or more of those players, whose salaries range from $7MM (for Jones) to $15MM (for Isaac).

It’s cool to use the Lakers and Warriors in trade discussions. It gets the hits. Neither are getting Giannis. DeRozen sounds more realistic with the kings possibly interested in Kuminga.
Murphy is also unattainable with Kuminga being the main piece.
Pelican asking price is 3 1st round picks plus young players. They made the asking price so high nobody can afford him. They do not want to trade Murphy.
If Giannis was as careful with his words as the “Easter Conference Exec” claims would he include the phrase, “at the end of the day” in every answer he gives.
Im kidding, just trying to find some humor in a dismal season.
Nets should trade MPJ because next year his value will b not be a as high. His stats been going down.
Nets will be trying to win next season and that means they’ll be keeping MPJ.
looks like they are going that way. They are asking very high prices for their players.
Trying to win what, 20 games? Buy low sell high.
The Nets aren’t competing next year, and I highly doubt they’ll try.
False. They don’t own their pick next year. They will be trying to win and will make a push to get to 500.
maybe that is why they are asking for draft picks for their players. cam Thomas is the player to watch if they keep him they are pushing for .500 if they trade him they are still rebuilding.
Wut? No. Cam Thomas is not the lynchpin of their future.
What they get for him at trade deadline is.
Wut? That makes no sense, adr. They just want a break up. He’s just a rental and the Nets know he won’t return much.
His value will be more at the end of the season to use the contract he gets in a trade with the team he signs with.
?
he can do a sign and trade. How you think D’lo got his contract leaving the Nets.
Thomas will be an unrestricted FA.
still be used in a trade. Team A wants him but it puts them over the cap. So team A trades a bench player and a draft pick ina sign and trade so now they are not over the cap.
Clearing cap space to sign an ufa is not the same as a sign&trade.
Teams with no cap space is now out of the running to sign Thomas. So half the teams will not sign him.
Half the teams have no cap space to sign anyone.
The Nets are clearly in full development mode. They’ve got 5 first-rounders that they’re trying to develop. There is absolutely no way they’re going to make a push next year. I thought that was pretty obvious to anyone who follows the league.
I guess you don’t follow it too closely. The Nets don’t own their pick next year and so they will be trying to win after getting a top 5 pick and having more money to spend in free agency than anyone else. That’s how they will turn their fate around.
I’m well aware they don’t own their pick next year – this doesn’t get in the way of their pretty obvious plan to develop the young players they have. Sean Marks is on record talking about not speeding up the timeline by making FA moves just to be a “6 or 7 seed”.
But you know better than him, of course.
I don’t know “better than him” but you’re talking as if the plan is to go from 15th in the conference to 1st. It doesn’t work that way and tanking for another year is not going to serve their interests.. it’ll help the Rockets maybe but not the Nets. They plan to be competitive next szn.. not my words, theirs. That means they will take a run at 500 and from there they still have more draft capital than anyone else and a solid cap structure so they will be able to go after stars that become available. But part of that is becoming a desirable destination.
If they’re stuck as a bottom feeder for years, no one will want to play there. They know they have to push chips into the pot and show progress.
Dude, I’m literally quoting their GM, he’s openly said they’re not going to push just to be a middling team yet.
Tanking isn’t all just about drafts or next years first rounder. They’re trying to develop a LOT of young players. That takes time. Next year isn’t their timeline to compete.

Scotto talks about it here.
Do Warriors haters actually watch Warriors games? If you do, do you watch Kerr’s moves and laugh your butt off? You should. Do any of you actually think Kerr is doing a good job? I never see anyone aside from people who are stuck in 2015-2022 stick up for Kerr. Because what he does makes absolutely no sense at all. It’s not even really the fact he’s playing 3 guards at once for 75% of the game, its the fact that all 3 guards are wildly undersized and combined play zero defense vs bigs. If these guards were all like, over 6’9″ or even all no shorter than 6’5″, it would make more sense. If I followed a team playing GSW I would be arrogantly bragging about how stupid Kerr’s 3 guards will allow my team to score unlimited points at the rim.
GSW is the gift that keeps on giving, to its fans and enemies, the best and only show in town, the team you have to care about = ethical hoops 101
No one wants that trash can Isaac. He’s totally washed up since his injury.

Imo you ride JK. Even if you decide to trade him. He will worth more at end of year.
Murphy is a real talent. Without Jimmy you can’t go after him. Let Kuminga play …..
Again….ain’t nothing wrong with Naji Marshall for the Warriors. Plays hard both ends and makes the right plays, dudes a baller on a awesome contract. Be very gettable I’d imagine seeing how he’s playing his dollars up and mavs are treading water. I was hoping Boston sign him off season just gone. Naji just absolutely tore the Warriors a new one. What else do you want to see?
One of Mavs few bright spots this szn.. have no reason to trade him. Ppl think the Dubs can just sprinkle pixie dust on their role players and they’re magically super valuable in a package. Like the Mavs want Moses Moody and Buddy Hield… or Kuminga who the Dubs have trying to trade for 3 years… Just stop.
If the bucks had any clue they would extract value from Giannis while they can, but the worst gm just doesn’t want to pull a Luka on the bucks fan base.
However, the return on the Luka trade was terrible. If they can get three first rounders – they should take it, before Giannis demands a trade and decreases their leverage, or gets injured and loses all value, as he has nothing to offer except for his athleticism.
Too bad the Timberpuppies didn’t have Tyus Jones back when he was 22 years old and was only making a couple of million a year. OH !!
