Veteran guard Seth Curry will be active for Monday’s matchup at Utah, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr confirmed before the game (Twitter link via Nick Friedell of The Athletic).
Curry has been out for a little over three months due to sciatic nerve irritation (sciatica) on his left side. He has been upgraded to available on tonight’s injury report after previously being listed as probable.
A 12-year veteran, Curry has been limited to two games with Golden State since he re-signed with the club on December 1. The 35-year-old spent training camp and the preseason with the Warriors but was waived ahead of the 2025/26 regular season because his veteran’s minimum salary couldn’t fit under the team’s second-apron hard cap at the time.
Curry appeared in two games with the Warriors prior to the injury. The 35-year-old had 14 points (on 6-of-7 shooting), two rebounds, two assists and a steal in 18 minutes in his debut on December 2, then had zero points (on 0-of-2 shooting), two rebounds, one assist and one steal in 14 minutes on Dec. 4. He hasn’t played since.
The 6’1″ combo guard is the younger brother of Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, but the two have yet to play a game together this season, notes Kevin Borba of NBC Sports Bay Area. The elder Curry continues to be sidelined with a right knee injury.
Moses Moody (right wrist sprain) and Will Richard (right ankle sprain) remain out Monday for Golden State. Veteran big men Al Horford (left toe injury management) and Kristaps Porzingis (illness management) are out as well, but Kerr is optimistic they’ll both be available for Tuesday’s home game vs. Chicago, per Friedell.

Wrong one
Finally the Warriors bring in a shooting guard
It’ll be nice to have a consistent shooter on the floor without Steph
No need
All the Seth Curry detractors really don’t appreciate a guy with great offensive skills. Fantastic jump shooter plus can score in several other different ways.
On a team that needs shooting it doesn’t matter if he’s missed the first 2/3 of the season. That shot will come in handy as they make a playoff push with this young team.
I maybe reading to much into this. But, I think big bro is thinking about his legacy more. That is. The state of the team when he retires. Steph wants to come back for the playoffs. He sounds like he wants to get the younger a more positive playoff experience.
He also talked about finishing his career like Vince Carter, part-time player/mentor. Minimum salary Curry backing up his All-Star replacement…I wonder if Butler would do the same thing?
Minimum salary Steph lmfao. That’s not happening and your team only cares about revenue at this point of Steph’s career.
Vince Carter did it. That is how Steph says he wants to finish his career. So, why is it not possible.
Vince ain’t Steph.
Ok. So, what does Steph mean when he says he wants to end his career like Carter.
Play until he can’t walk, doesn’t mean he’s playing for the minimum. If he did, imagine the version you’re getting.
No need to imagine, we’ve been watching his brother for 10 years.
Steph not Seth man.
Nice Curry is back! That 1/5 will win them the game.
Yeah, a few points off the bench in a return ain’t gonna win a game.
I don’t want to admit it, but most you guys are right.., this is the Swan song.
Still hope for the playoffs and then look forward to the summer roster rebuild.
Losing to the jazz is not good though. Half the team is G guys with Leon and Spencer and Williams, etc.
He was good, but Podz was much, much worse and unfortunately led the team in minutes. Kerr has to stop making Podz his “connector guy” (fake term Kerr made up) aka “non star/white guy who leads the team in minutes”. This is one of Kerr’s horrible coaching policies that never works the way he thinks it does.
@DaveyJ, I agree with most your criticisms of Kerr and give you credit for sticking to them. But I don’t see the case for your criticism of Podz. You need to make a better case given what everybody sees and the numbers show.
Podz will probably never be a star, but he’s a tough, winning player. It’s his 3rd year, so expect steady improvement for the next few years.
It’s only his 3rd year, so he’ll continue to improve. IMO, Podz projects as:
– at worst, he’s a “complementary” player on a decent team — a 5th to 7th best player.
– at best, he develops into a 3rd to 5th best starter.
“Winning player” ummm no rings and GSW being blocked from the Finals the second he showed up proves he is the opposite of a winning player.
I believe Podz will be more useful and consistent if Curry moves back to the traditional PG role (ft. less running), with Podz moving off-ball on offense (ft. more running). The smartest move is to have Steph tudor Podz how to run those marathons to maximize his worth. In Podz’s case its not necessarily shooting 3’s like Steph did, but more closer to the rim.
