Tyrese Maxey has been diagnosed with a tendon injury in his right pinkie and will be reevaluated in three weeks, Shams Charania reports for ESPN (Twitter link).
Maxey sustained the injury during a Sixers game against the Hawks on Saturday and consequently underwent imaging and consultations with specialists, Charania notes.
The Sixers are currently without Maxey’s co-stars, Joel Embiid and Paul George, and have struggled of late, losing nine of their last 14 games and falling to eighth in the East heading into Tuesday’s action.
Maxey has been having a career year, making his second All-Star game while averaging 29.0 points and 6.7 assists, both his personal bests. He is set to miss at least 11 games, which could put his end-of-year awards eligibility in danger.

Season over…FIRE MOREY
Was waiting for your comment lol. Unbelievable man. Been high on Maxey since rookie year. Absolute shame.
They could have torn this thing down a few years back and done a proper rebuild, instead Morey doubled down on his “Big 3” philosophy and handed out a massive extension to Embiid and gave a Max to Paul George lolol. They also got Maxey thinking he’s an actual Point Guard and a legit “franchise” player, when really he’s a #3 at best and is the only decent trade piece they have. Nick Nurse has proven his ‘ring’ is strictly due to the roster he had and some unfortunate injuries to GSW.
The McCain trade should prove to ownership that Morey doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing with this team moving forward. The entire “Embiid era” has been failure after failure and the only option left aside from Harris selling the team, is to completely clean house…but Morey has done so much damage over the last few seasons they can’t even tear the house down because of the Embiid and PG deals
