1:33 pm: Bassey’s deal is official, per the Warriors (Twitter link).
8:10 am: The Warriors plan to sign Charles Bassey, reports Michael Scotto of HoopsHype (via Twitter).
The 53rd overall pick in the 2021 draft, Bassey spent his first four NBA seasons with the 76ers and Spurs, appearing in 113 games and averaging 4.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in 11.1 minutes per contest from 2021-25. However, despite a strong Summer League showing last July in Las Vegas, he was unable to secure a regular roster spot at the NBA level this season and has bounced around among several teams in between G League stints.
Bassey signed a 10-day hardship contract with the Grizzlies in October, inked a pair of 10-day deals with Philadelphia in January and February, and recently nearly three weeks with the Celtics on two more 10-day contracts. He became a free agent on Saturday when his second 10-day deal with Boston expired on Friday night.
A 6’10” center from Nigeria, Bassey has averaged 2.9 points and 2.6 rebounds in 6.6 minutes per game across eight appearances with Memphis, Philadelphia and Boston in 2025/26.
He had a much larger role in the G League, averaging 20.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in 20 games (29.9 MPG), with a shooting slash line of .606/.426/.654. The majority of those appearances (17) came with the Warriors’ affiliate team in Santa Cruz.
Bassey will essentially replace Turkish big man Omer Yurtseven, whose second 10-day contract with Golden State expired on Friday night.
If Bassey’s deal is completed on Sunday, he would be eligible to appear in five games over the last eight days of the regular season. He’ll likely earn the veteran’s minimum due to the Warriors’ cap situation.

Somebody on here is going to be happy and claim they should’ve done this three months ago. Giant maybe?
That might be an exaggeration. He’s played really well in the GLeague. He’s gotten 5 ten day contracts this season. So, what not see what he can do. Looks like he has the chance to be a solid depth piece next season. When is the last time you could say that the Warriors.
Honestly I heard the same thing about Yurtski last month. Personally, I’m not that excited about Charles Bassey for next season.
Is it too early to get super excited about Mara?
Would Mara be ready for next season? If Bassey worked out, they could get him on a non-guaranteed contract. They could sign Mara to a 2 way contract. If Mara became ready, and Bassey wasn’t working out, they could cut Bassey and sign Mara to a full contract.
Mara is expected to go in the back half of the draft. So, they would probably have to trade back to get him. But, the trade might yield them some assets.
Another Center why ????
Every time I recommend one. You tell me how much you don’t need one. I know you know less than Kerr.
We both know you are a hater. Yet you fawn for this guy. Figures, he isn’t a fit for Warriors. He’s and old school center. Who doesn’t fit Kerrs offense in anyway. Just a big body I guess ….
Just imagine Kerr had me on his staff. He would have Máxime right now doing this LOL.
29 mins, 28 pts, 11/14 FG, 6/7 FT, 9 reb, 4 ast.
Gotta love it lol, Maxime a true big man.
Just remember. When Warriors draft Lendeborg. I want ALL the WAGONEERS to write e-mails to Warriors to cut me a CHECK. I’m watching 👀👀
You are a little confused. The Warriors traded for Bassey last December. Kerr doesn’t make the trades. Dunleavy traded for him. What fawning? He was putting up great numbers. Might as well see what he can do.
If the Warriors had drafted Raynaud, he would have spent the year at Santa Cruz. Bassey is only on a 10 day contract.
Why do you care so much about Raynaud getting drafted by the Warriors? It does make any sense. It has obviously been better for Raynaud to have been taken by the Kings.
Why should they send you a check. What have you done for the Warriors.
Why would I care what Warriors or you think or do. I just think it was dumb to pass on him. Like I think it was dumb for Bulls to pass on Queen. Like I think it was dumb for Knicks to pass on Duren. Just a basketball observation from a knowledgeable guy. Not like the hating and disrespect you show Raynaud just cause I like him. I told you after draft I will remind you of the mistake Warriors made. And your disrespectful and hating ways of a player. You know nothing about. I’m just a man of my word.
It’s “interesting” that you didn’t rush to post his stats from the game before that one, where he produced 6 pts 8 reb 0 ast 1 TO in 23 minutes, nor last night’s 11 pts on 5-12 in the home loss to the Clippers.
It’s also interesting that’s you’ve never proven that you said GSW should draft him BEFORE the draft happened.
Why cause they weren’t that great. Whole point of posting his stats. Is to show his ascension as a rookie. What rookie isn’t going to have bad days. Its so immature to even bring that up. What does the 42nd pick in draft playing like best big in draft TELL YOUR DA. Yet you think a game is worth something. . WAGONEER learn what a Rookie is suppose to do ……. You actually have to think for this nonsense lmao.
Against Clippers — 33 mins, 11 pts, 15 rebounds, 2 ast, 1 stl, 1 blk. Only a NON thinks this is selective.
Another “swing-n-a-miss” 🤡clown themselves
It was a mistake not taking Raynaud at #42. Thats all I said on draft night. You were there clown so take your lies elsewhere. I got lucky, I guess.

I have been wanting them to replace Draymond with a better centre for years… ;)
His grandmother knocked it out of the park with those old James Bond songs.
That was Shirley Bassey, and she was a better rebounder. People forget that her best song was, Kiss Me, Honey Honey, Kiss Me. I’ll bet 2.o recalls that.
His fourth team this season
To good for the GLeague. CBA has kinda blocked him from getting a full contract.
Warriors just need bodies to make it through last 5 games of the season.
This is rock bottom
How so?
Switching between 10 day centers that will actually have to play heavy minutes (maybe even start) sounds like rock bottom to me
Bassey has been in their system about a month or more. So, not really an act of desperation.
No contract details – so we don’t know if it’s a 10 day
He sucks …..that so
I wouldn’t say this is rock bottom, the guy’s not a bad player in short spurts. I’m actually surprised that he hasn’t found a consistent job as a 3rd liner that gives a team 8-10 minutes a game.
Now Skal and Fultz, that’s bottom of the barrel.
That is kinda my thinking. He could give them the depth they haven’t had at the 5. He would be pretty cheap. It would give them time to find and develop someone through the draft.
Fultz is a good player and far better than Bassey and I wasnt even talking about Bassey specifically
Fair, I read your comment again in the way you explained above and I can see it.
As for Fultz, was a good player, not much left in the tank.
Maybe I’m just still attached to that Washington Markelle Fultz and just cant let go hopimg that maybe he can still pan out
Brabo, of course it’s rock bottom. They’re trying to lose and stay in the 10th position and hold onto that 11th pick. That’s really the only thing the Warriors need to accomplish…, Lose the play in game.
Brabo, I have a question though. Now that Yurtski 10 day deal has expired, Who else would you suggest that the Warriors acquire at this point in the year that would not qualify as desperation, but would actually be a great pick up in your eyes?
My point is that there’s no one available. Everything is desperation if you’re looking at the quality of player to choose from at this date in the season.
I agree, I think everything is desperation at this point
They have been at rock bottom for a while now sadly. Hopefully they can get a nice young guy with that lottery pick, this year’s draft is very deep
Hawks waived Caleb Houstan. he barely played but looks like he can shoot, and he’s 6’8″.
40% on 3s last season, 64-160. This season, he was 11-21 (54%) on 3s. The guy is only 23 y.o. (January birthday), might be just about to become a knock down shooter. He improved every year (this is his 4th in the NBA). Here is his TS% in consecutive years: 51, 58, 61 and 77%.
@NBAisOk, Houstan may be long but he’s a 205 lb wing, and we needed a true big for the next few games with Horford and Post both out/questionable through the play-in. Bassey is a legit 230 lb that will bang.
Houston always goes “jumbo” against us, with 2 true centers at once. Portland and the Clippers also look to get match-up advantages against us with their bigs.
> This is rock bottom
Nothing new, though. This is what you get when you refuse for the last 8 years to carry a back-up C in the 13th-15th spot. Every year, it’s cost us 2-4 losses.
@Rory/Luke: are the warriors able to sign their 15th player to a two-year deal (non-guaranteed ‘26-27), or are they limited to end-of-season deals?
Plenty of room below the hard cap for a multiyear deal if they want to.
Travelling the country, staying and eating in style.
Bassey is just in need of a good fit…
He plays hard and has a feel for his game…
Playing next to Curry he could look a lot better than in his other stops…
6-8, can’t shoot?
Well reluctant to… is more of a Vanderbilt type energy player… good for 20 mins off the bench…
He looked good in his debut last night – 5 pts on 2-2 and 1-1 from the ft line
Nothing beyond a foot and a half from the basket, though. When I referred to shooting, I mean mid range jumpshot, and further out.
