Amico On Cavs, Bobcats, Lakers, Rockets, Gasol

It was SI.com's Sam Amick, not Sam Amico of FOX Sports Ohio, that first reported yesterday that the Cavaliers and Bobcats could explore a trade involving the second and fourth picks in the draft. But the FOX scribe confirmed Amick's rumor last night, tweeting that the Cavs are trying to pry away the No. 2 pick from the Bobcats. He added (Twitter link) that it appears Cleveland is targeting Bradley Beal, which makes sense. Although I think the Cavs would do well to land Beal, Harrison Barnes, or Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, if the team truly covets Beal, trading up may be necessary — I don't think the Florida product gets past the Wizards at No. 3.

Robert Pera’s Bid For Grizzlies Not In Danger

WEDNESDAY, 8:20am: According to Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley, the Forbes report suggesting another bidder is in play is not accurate, writes Ronald Tillery of the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

"There is no other deal on the table," Heisley said. "We’re working with Pera and we have no reason to believe he won’t perform."

TUESDAY, 2:24pm: If Pera's worth slips further and he's eventually forced to drop his bid for the Grizzlies, a second buyer is in position to step in, reports Mike Ozanian of Forbes. According to the Forbes report, a group of local businessmen has prepared an offer of "a little less than $350MM" for the franchise in case Pera's bid falls through.

Heisley Explains Decision To Sell Grizzlies

Another NBA franchise is expected to change hands soon, as Michael Heisley has reached an agreement to sell the Memphis Grizzlies to 34-year-old billionaire Robert Pera. Heisley spoke to Chris Tomasson of FOX Sports Florida at length about why he decided to sell the team and the long-term future of the franchise. He noted that it would probably be a month or two before the NBA officially approved the sale, and said he'd make decisions on the team this summer in consultation with new ownership (Twitter links). Heisley Reaches Agreement To Sell Grizzlies

3:40pm: Heisley confirmed to Chris Tomasson of FOX Sports Florida (Twitter link) that he has signed a contract agreeing to sell the Grizzlies. However, he stressed that it could take a month or two for the NBA to approve the sale (Twitter link).

2:15pm: Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley has found a buyer for the franchise, reports ESPN.com's Marc Stein. According to Stein, Heisley has reached an agreement in principle to sell the Grizzlies to Robert Pera, a 34-year-old communications technology magnate, and the deal is pending league approval.
